I never write reviews. Ive actually never written one before but I feel the need to because I just cant help but feel absolutely annoyed by what happened. Dont get me wrong, Millie, the stylist who cut my hair was awesome! She was very attentive and would ask specific questions about my hair to get me just what I wanted. It was the receptionist who is honestly the only factor that may stop me from coming back. I had called to make an appointment and I made it very clear that I had never been there before and that I would like to use their $20 off coupon for first time guests. She told me okay and asked if I had a stylist in mind and I told her no because I didnt know who worked there. After telling me that using the $20 off coupon would be okay, she then assigned me to Millie. I go in and after my haircut, she tells me its $35. I know you have to spend a minimum of $40 in order to use the coupon, and she should have known that since she works there!! So, as shes telling me how much I owe, I said, so could I use the coupon for next time since I couldnt use it this time? She tells me no because its only for first time guests... Well, I couldnt use it because SHE assigned me to someone that wasnt $40 in the first place. I dont think its right that Im paying for her mistake. I just feel absolutely wronged by it. I loved Millies work and I would love to come back but for not getting an apology for the receptionist messing up or trying to compensate/make up for it, Im not sure now. Millie, the hair stylist was amazing but that experience really put me off.

I have been all over Tallahassee trying to find a home salon. I have had a few really good experiences, and I am learning that prices are just naturally high here for hair. Mary was great! She did a simple trim, which is what I wanted. What I liked most about her--she didnt try to sell me something I couldnt afford. I am trying to go back to my natural color, and obviously this process is possible with corrective treatments which probably cost hundreds of dollars. She told me to just leave it alone. She did not try to sell me something! Great service, and really friendly/relaxing atmosphere. I liked that it was small and not an overwhelming salon. I will be back! Thanks Mary! :)

Most stylists Ive gone to usually wash, cut then dry my hair. The stylist I had wash, dried then cut my hair, which I found weird. I didnt like the style at all and it is the same kinda style Ive been getting for the past 5 years. Also the stylist was somewhat condescending when she was questioning me about the products and giving me a lecture on how the hair products I used were bad just so I would buy their products. In the end, the overall cut was cheap but I was not satisfied with the way my hair came out or how they consistently tried to sucker me into buy products.

Millie has been cutting my hair for the last few years and Ive loved the way shes cut my hair. However, the last time I went in I got my hair hair colored. I wanted brown (my natural color) and purple balayage. Millie applied the purple die over all of my hair which turned my hair red. I expressed that I was unhappy and they wouldnt even fix it at a discounted price when in reality it should have been fixed free of charge since I paid $220 for that cut and color and it wasnt even what I wanted. Be aware that if they make a mistake youll pay to fix it.

I had my hair cut here. The stylist that cut it doesnt work here anymore. The salon was ok, but the owner was rude. It turned me off to where I didnt want to come back. I wouldnt recommend coming here or working here, I know some things and all I can say is its a shame for the people who have to quit and find another salon to work at bc the owner creates drama. Unfortunate situation... But on the bright side, there are tons of great salons here in our lovely community.

Heather did a wax for me and I was especially surprised to see the previous review of her! I felt I should counter it with a positive one. I have had nothing but great experiences with Heather. She is warm and friendly, and I have never had problems with my waxing. I am surprised a 10 minute brazilian is possible! I have never had a brazilian take less than 40 minutes, usually an hour. I think Heather is great and I would recommend her to anyone!! :)

I have had many Brazilian waxes in the past, but this was by far the worst experience Ive had. The girl took over 45 minutes to do it! Every other Brazilian Ive had took no more than 10 minutes. Not only did she take forever, but she did a horrible job. If Im paying $60 for a wax, I expect all the hair to be removed, but when she was "finished" I had patches of hair and globs of wax all over me! It was awful. Do not go here for a waxing!

I have gone to Athena Salon & Spa for more than 4 years for a variety of services and it is excellent. The staff is professional, friendly and knowledgeable (I love my stylist Cody) and the atmosphere at the salon is relaxed and calm. The new location on Mahan is beautiful and I have always appreciated that they are an Aveda salon. From massages and waxing to make-up and haircuts, you cant go wrong with Athena.

Athena is the only salon that I have gone to since moving to Tallahassee in 2004. They are always so sweet and accomodating. Cody is my stylist and I keep her business cards in my purse because so many people compliment me on my hair color and cut. I cannot fathom going anywhere or to anyone else! Check them out if you need any salon or spa service or any Aveda products.

Gave it a star only to be able to post this. Received a gift certificate for Christmas. The owner, Mary, refused to honor it. She said the certificate that I held in my hand had been used. Dishonest business. I had heard stories about her dishonesty, but this is totally convinced me to try other Aveda salons.

I am new in town and chose them due to the great reviews. When I called to make an appointment, I was greeted enthusiastically and she accomodate my requested the same day ! My stylist took time with me... Asked me what I wanted..my hair looks amazing!!! Aveda products are amazing too,

Its the first time someone actually did exactly what I wanted. I explained and they delivered. Youd think that would be the norm at any place, but its not. Kadi is amazing! And everyone seems like they genuinely want to be ther and make people happy. Love love love this place.

I cant say enough good things about this place. Ive been going there for about a year now after Haute Headzs prices went out of control. The staff is excellent no matter who you go to and they are always willing to accommodate their clients!
