As a tennis player and a person who loves to work out/stay in shape, there is simply not a better deal ANYWHERE!! They have 14 nice clay tennis courts, a basketball court, 4 racket ball courts, an upstairs dedicated solely to cardio equipment, a lap pool, and a nice downstairs filled with workout machines and free-weights. They also have a workout room with classes that are included. Boot camp with Tony simply cant be beat! Also, their spinning, yoga, Hot-yoga, and TRX classes are Great! I recommend Donna and Lance as trainers although I know the other trainers are great as well. As a member for the last 3 years I truly have no idea what these other reviews are talking about (Ive never had trouble parking either). My husband recently joined, and although not a tennis player, loves the gym, the trainers, and the classes (he went to boot camp). If you play tennis, some of the strongest players in the area play here, but theres tennis for all levels. To get all my gym and tennis club needs met for under $100 (I have a young professional membership) is TOTALLY INCREDIBLE, especially for the Tampa Bay area!

Awful Weight Room - Cons: There is too small of a selection of free weights and exercise machines, if there are more than 3 people in the weight room it seems crowded because its so small, there is only 1 flat bench so if someone is using the flat bench for dumbbells you cant use a flat bench for bench press, and Tennis costs $20/month extra. This is the only gym Ive ever been to that charges by age. If youre under 31 its $79/mo + $129 Enrollment fee and if you are 32-45 its $120/mo + $200 Enrollment fee. Also, they let little kids use the facilities too. Pros: Great amenities such as Treadmills with fans and tvs built in, Racquetball courts, Indoor Basketball Court, Sauna, Jacuzzi, Heated pool, Tennis courts (costs $20 extra). It really feels like a Country Club. If you are interested in working out hard and getting big, this isnt the gym for you. If you are interested in leisure sports, this may be the gym for you. Better Alternatives: Power House Gym off Kennedy, Lifestyles Gym off Swann

The HAIC is more than just a "gym" or "athletic facility"...Its a team of employees who truly seem to care about what they do for a living. Its a group of members who make you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in and are never to busy for a friendly hello. Everything from the machines and weights, to the courts and the pools is kept clean and in top condition, and you dont have to worry about those members that like to hog machines during their 20-minute rest sessions between sets or the ones that mistake workout time for social media photo shoot time. A huge thank you to Sue for getting signed up and making me feel at home from day one! I definitely recommend this "home" to anyone looking for more than just your average workout spot!

I have been a member of HIAC for over 10 years. I love the place. Some of the excellent facilities that I use regularly include a 27 meter heated lap pool, indoor basketball court, child care facilities, free weights and "machines" area, a ton of tread mills, a dedicated spinning room, playground for the kids. They also have 15 clay tennis courts that I do not use enough. Very family friendly as well! I also wanted to give kudos to Mike Ridder who runs an excellent Boot Camp class on Tuesdays at 6:15. The staff is extremely courteous and professional. There may be newer and possibly lower cost gyms but I think HIACs facilities are hard to beat and the location is perfect for anyone downtown or in the immediate surrounding area.

I have hated working out for 101% of my life for several reasons! Too name a few: 1) It sucks; 2) Its exhausting; 3) Its boring and the list continues Well, this place is conveniently located in a nice part of the city offering great views on the outside. Then, when you enter the building, its the Disney of gyms. It has indoor racquetball courts (my favs), indoor basketball courts, great classes, like Zumba (my second fav), clean showers, a steamy steam room, a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, towels on deck, weights, aaannnnnddddd the worlds friendliest staff! They actually remember you by name! I feel like a celebrity when i go over there. Well, that took care of the boring part for me. Now, I look forward to going to the gym :-)

I just renewed my membership after 3 years at HIAC, all new staff with a new modern interior look from locker room to weight room and group class space. I welcomed by Rachel Milhoan as member ship rep she is the most professional individual I have ever met, she knows her job and of course extremely friendly. She explained every detail about new updates from my last visit in 2012...very excited to start my work out agin in a top gym in Tampa Bay with excellent staff. -Faranak

Instructors do not show up to classes on time, or at all. Those working at the front desk are incompetent and rude. I received unprofessional emails addressed to the wrong person when I tried to address my complaints. It is entirely too expensive for what you get. Additionally, the weight room is very small. I would suggest any other gym but this one.

I have been a member for 25 years and I love the place!! btw the weight room is now HUGE with everything imaginable, and the personal trainers are excellent! I find the staff extremely friendly and responsive. The only thing I miss is food service..it would be nice to have a simple snack bar and place to sit with a coffee out on the deck!

Harbour Island Athletic Club is by far the best club in Tampa and has anything you could ever want in an athletic club. It also has the best people. Everyone is friendly and all of the trainers are great and extremely knowledgeable. I recommend this club to anyone and everyone.

Way overpriced for what you get. Dirtly locker rooms. They market it as an upscale facility which it totally is not.Trainers dont follow through. Agree with previous poster. total rip off. Go else where. Pros: Good location , OK equipment Cons: Service & Trainers Suck

Nice location, but the facility in chronically not well maintained. The place is taken over by the league basketball teams two nights per week which leaves members with no place to park. Overall, to much money for a below average facility.

There is nothing special about this gym. Way over priced to have to work out on machines that are rusting and falling apart.
Gym is not very big. It only looks big because of the basketball court and racquetball courts.

Good facility with all aspects - weights, machines, cardio, classes, pool, tennis, racquet ball, and basketball. Good front desk staff. Lots of trainers. Seems well managed. It is not inexpensive.

The HIAC is a great place! I enjoy the group fitness classes especially zumba and the dance fusion class. And if you have an opportunity, train with Nikki! She is the best!!!!
