After a few email and phone calls Barrett’s and I agreed to him doing a turbo project and fix an differential noise on my 2010 Camaro in February 2016. What was supposed to take six weeks took nearly a year and the car then had serious vibration issues, oil leaks, scratches in the paint, unpainted raw metal on fabricated parts, loose bolts, missing screws, broken parts, a noise starting out in first gear and an exhaust leak. I returned the car to Barrett’s in January 2017 for him to fix what I had not already fixed myself at home and got the car back May 13, 2017 when he tried to bill me again. When I refuse to pay any more Dave told me not to bring the car back and as I drove it home I noticed it was still smoking. When I checked out the car, I found it leaking from the turbo, the oil supply line and the oil return line. I also found the turbo compressor housing bolts were again hand tight. When I got it home and started going through the car, I found where they had not even bothered to vacuum up metal shavings before replacing the battery and they had not taped off anything before painting the fuel cell mount, getting overspray all over the well the battery sits in. Further, when Dave Barrett told me he was not confident he could fix my differential noise, I had a salvage differential shipped in for him to install and he agreed to check the differential for me to ensure it was in good shape and in fact a 3.73 gear ratio prior to installing it. He never checked it and It turned out the gear ratio was only a 3.23. He then told me the only way to check the gear ratio on a diff was to remove the rear cover and I had to explain to him how to check a gear ratio by just getting a car off the ground and simply counting the number of turns of the drive shaft required get the wheel to make one rotation. Had he checked the differential when he agreed to, I could have been returned for a refund or and gotten an actual 3.73 ratio unit, but now the unit is beyond its return time limit so Im stuck with that too. To add insult to injury he broke both ABS sensors while replacing the diff and tried to blame the ABS error on the tuner. Only when I purchased new sensors on my dime, did he replace them and the issues was corrected. This was a common theme throughout the build, whenever he could not get something right he tried to blame anything or anyone instead of just doing his homework and getting it right, and when he finally did get it right he wanted to bill for the hours to fix his screw up. I would tell anyone with a custom vehicle to avoid Barretts like the plague. They might be able to do simple parts replacement, but complicated work is way outside their skillset. They are certainly no speed shop and unless you want to pay dealership rates for Craigslist work, I would find another shop.

These guys are awesome. They repaired my timing chain in my Honda Pilot. I brought it in on a Friday at 4pm and by the next afternoon at 1pm Dave and Josh finished my car. This is the only reputable Mechanic repair shop that warranties there repairs if something goes wrong with the parts. Great shop and good Honest people. thanks guys.
