I went to Pep Boys in Longwood a few months ago for an oil change. I normally have my dad or my fiancé change my oil, but there is a special oil filter wrench that we needed in order to change it. (Its a new car to me.) We did not have it, so I figured Pep Boys would be my quick fix. I was wrong. As soon as I started driving, I could tell something was not right. I couldnt put my finger on it. Every time I accelerated, my car made very funny noises. I called my fiancé to tell him and see if maybe he would know just from hearing my descriptions. No go. He urged me to pull over and look under the hood ASAP. I was in a time crunch because I was on my way to babysit for an employee. After picking up the children, we went to the YMCA. (You might think this is useless information, but just keep reading.) At the Y, I finally took a look under the hood. I did not think I would readily see my problem since I am not particularly good with cars. However, to my surprise, it was very easy to see what the problem was. It looked like there had been an oil explosion in the hood of my car-- just oil EVERYWHERE! The oil cap was sitting on the top left part of my hood, OBVIOUSLY not where it was supposed to be. How do you forget to put something like that back on? That was their JOB! It was just before Pep Boys closed that I found this asinine mistake. Thankfully, I was able to speak with one of the employees and tell him what happened. He told me to check the oil and if it looked okay, to put the oil cap back on and I could continue driving. I had already driven well over 45 miles with the oil cap off and I did not feel comfortable driving another 35-40 miles to get home. I had two small children with me at this time... Not my kids, I was WORKING. I had to get my car TOWED. Thank goodness I had a family member (that did not live far from the area) that was available to pick us up. If I hadnt, what would I have done in this situation? Totally inconvenient. The next morning rolls around and my fiancé and I are at Pep Boys shop bright and early when they open. I was ready to get the ball rolling. I wanted a new oil change, everything under my hood cleaned, and my money back. This had already interfered with my night (while I was working!) and it was now interfering with my school schedule. I had an exam that same day and needed to be at UCF in just a couple hours. They (sort of) fixed the problem they made. My only complaint was there was still oil under my hood... It did not look like it did when I initially brought it in, by any means. I understand that people make mistakes, but to forget something like this-- it is irresponsible to say the least. You would think my story ends here, right? Wrong. Fast forward to today, December 10th, 2015. I am due for another oil change, but this time we have the wrench and plan to do it ourselves. However, my oil filter cap is screwed on so tight, it is almost impossible to get off (without potentially breaking it). My fiancé said it looks like someone grabbed it with pliers and ended up stripping it, making it impossible to grip it with a tool he bought specifically for it. It did not look like that before I took my car to Pep Boys when my fiancé tried to change my oil only to find out he couldnt do it and needed certain tools. This will not be the last of me you will be hearing. I would never in my life recommend anyone to use Pep Boys in Longwood-- not even someone I did not like.

Smell. Strong rubber smell that what you feel first when you come in. It was so strong that I couldnt stay in a waiting room and waited outside instead. Ive had an appointment for oil change online and price of $20 was confirmed for my vehicle. Turned out itll be $32 something because my oil filter has some different system. OK, but last time I changed oil in other car service it cost me exactly $20. I was promised to have a courtesy car check along with the oil change. Ive asked mechanic to check the front suspension. Turned out we have to wait for Miguel. But theyve shown me cabin air filter which needs to be changed. Regular price is $60 (I guess) but only today and only for my itll be $40! For the air filter which Ive ordered already online for $5 they want $40

Ill be honest. The pay is terribly lousy, customers complain to get free fixes (comes out of mechanics and familys pockets ) two people should (not) be there at all! Investors own and "run" the stores! We work way to hard to have to stop and do freebies all day long! (Tire pressure, oil, i put a part on and its not right" but can you fix it outside for $1"?, nope ) wawa now has automatic free tire pressure systems. We arnt allowed "tips" because were paid so much geting $8 an hour and spent many over $50,000-100,000 on tools (not bought by pepboys). Not a bad place to go but some people make it difficult. Like any job. Remember. Mechanics is not drive through fast food and done in seconds! Remember next time you see your mechanic. Thank you

went in for new tires and got just that, quick service had my tires mounted and ready to drive off in less than an hour. the sales rep was knowledgeable about the tires and answered all my questions. which tires were soft/hard, had good traction in wet/dry, which would be quiet/noisey, etc.. there was a slight mix-up with a mail in rebate form, but going back an explaining that i think i received the wrong mail in rebate form, and all was well. i also need brakes soon, and my girlfriends car needs tires soon, so Im sure we will be back. plus, its right down the street from me, i could walk there if i absolutely had to.

I dont know much about cars. I go here to get my tire changed and get told my break light is out. I get charged 180$ for all of this. A few hours later I get an angry text from my dad saying a light bulb is 3$ and a tire is 60$. I was completely taken advantage of. After I saw the receipt I was charged 45$ for a 2 minute break light change. The price was not even broken down to me, I just thought the tire was really expensive. I would have surely rejected a 45$ break light change. Even worse the tire arrives two hours late "due to traffic", I guess my tire came from out of state or something?? Never ever go here.

I still cant get over how I was so take advantage of after going here for a shaking proble in my car. I went here for a vibration and they said I needed tires for $770.. They installed them and I returned 5 minutes later and said it was still there, then they said I needed brakes for $600 and that would fix it. I reluctantly agreed and drove off with the vibration still there. I went to another shop down the street and the man said it needed an ignition coil on one of my cylinders and $166 my car was perfect. Pep boys is horrible!!
