A shaking steering wheel and Goodyear’s nationwide warranty for tire balancing initially lead me to Paul’s shop which began a rollercoaster of events. With a 14 month old accompanying me at 8:00 on a Saturday morning I was given the bad news from Paul himself that he couldn’t honor services provided by another store without a receipt. Needless to say that this made me furious for several reasons but mainly because of the huge inconvenience and also because I was told a different story at the Goodyear I initially had the service performed. Because Paul shop isn’t actually a corporate store it wasn’t networked into Goodyear’s database of customers and therefore had no way to verify any previous warranty work. Cliffs: The Goodyear in Buckhead will not honor work performed from are locations without a receipt. Tip: Call ahead to avoid any headaches such as this, and keep all vehicle receipts for services rendered with the car. The next week I brought Paul the receipt for the work performed at our local Goodyear near our second home in South Carolina. Paul quickly looked it over and agreed to balance the wheels to cure the shaking steering wheel. I also asked to have the car aligned at the same time and he quoted me a price that was $30 less expensive than the other Goodyear we frequented some 300+ miles away. The work was done quickly and I was soon on my way and paid exactly what I was quoted, no surprises there. Cliffs: Paul agreed (very willingly mind you) to rebalance the wheels ( atno charge) and to perform an alignment. What did surprise me was that not only was the steering wheel shake at highway speeds was still present but the shop’s alignment tech has also scratched all four of my new wheels during the alignment. Now the scratches were only cosmetic and not easily seen from 4 feet away but I knew the damaged was done at Paul’s Goodyear. After a somewhat tense conversation Paul admitted that his shop did damage the wheels because they didn’t take a few precautionary measures needed for the aftermarket wheels. I didn’t feel that the damage was severe enough to warrant any large amount of compensation but I did appreciate them being upfront in the end (but they could have done so bit sooner). Paul also decided to remount each tire and to make sure that the problems would be greatly improved if not eliminated. After the work was performed Paul explained to me that if I had any other trouble that I could have the tire replaced under warranty and he would be happy to help me through the process. Keep in mind that I didn’t even buy the tires from Paul’s shop or from Goodyear for that matter (Tirerack for those wondering). Overall I was happy with my experience at Paul’s Goodyear. Being a minority in this area of Atlanta can be difficult at times; certain demographics have a sense of entitlement that some establishments are happy to oblige. Paul always treated me with the respect that all paying customers should receive. The other staff also treated other customers well and allowed them to make informed decisions without being pushy . Because I’m in the military, I needed to find a place that I trusted to service my wife’s vehicle while I’m stationed 300 miles away in South Carolina. I feel that Paul and his staff have met my expectations for integrity and service and I will continue to use them in the future.

I wish I could give 0 stars. Do NOT go here for anything besides an oil change. Took the Corolla in on a Saturday because the a/c wasnt working; I received a quote for $1300 and "probably 8.5 hours of work, were closed on Sunday so it will probably be completed end of day Monday, but definitely by Tuesday". Tuesday afternoon rolls around and I call the shop. "Sorry its actually going to be Wednesday but it will definitely be finished then." -->Frustrating, but ok fine. They mentioned the entire dash had to come out to get access. 4pm Wednesday I get a call "Im really sorry to say this, but it wont be done today either. If you can get here before we close though we can give you a rental car." -->So at this point Im very irritated with the run-around on when this will actually be completed and I ask to receive a discount instead of a rental. Im told hell speak to PAUL and get back to me. 5:30pm Wednesday I get a call saying "PAUL said there is a $50 coupon online that we can add on for you" -->Yes. I am very aware. I brought up that coupon when I dropped the car off AND its available to anyone. PAUL did nothing for me, PAUL suggested I get a discount I was already going to get anyway. I spent about 10 minutes discussing the value of creating repeat customers (I have a jeep that needs new tires too!) and how just offering me something more to make me feel better about them promising me 8 hours then taking 4 days can go a long way. He spoke to PAUL again. PAUL did not care. (The theme here is PAUL doesnt care about customers.) Thursday 5pm I get my car back. I run the a/c, its cold. Great! They didnt add on my coupon and I had to bring that up myself, but at least I got my car back. WRONG. When I put the car in reverse with the a/c on you can hear a very loud rattle. I call them up Friday morning and drop off the car AGAIN, and take their loaner car. Picked up the car again Friday night then was out of town all weekend. Sunday night I get in that car to grab dinner and guess what? RATTLE AGAIN. I take it back for the THIRD TIME on Monday and again take the loaner. FINALLY, end of day Monday my car is back and no longer rattles. All supposedly due to "A subjective amount of insulation you can add around the compressor". For those of you keeping score, I was promised 8.5hours, and it took 9 days, 3 trips, and 0 coupons. The entire time I dealt with Richard, HE was great. Richard truly understands the value of a customer and did a great job. The way he remembers names and interacts with the other customers was great. Unfortunately Richard does not own the shop. I am new to Atlanta and have no loyalties to any auto shop yet. This was my test run of "well if they fix the a/c in the corolla, Ill spend $1000 on tires for my jeep". NOPE. I hope you understand the value of repeat customers PAUL. If you had said "well the price of a rental is normally $30/day and we had your car 4 days too long, so let me knock $120 off" then youd be doing my tires as well and getting another grand out of me. Now, I will never go to your shop again and certainly will not recommend it. OH...and my car was covered in dust with soda can rings on trunk and the cup holders and mats were full of dirt. Worst experience possible.

Ive been coming to this Goodyear Tire & Service Center regularly since 2006 when I moved to Georgia and got our first car here. Paul Gimby is the owner, and he has turned out to be one of the very few auto repair professionals I have ever trusted. From my very first experience, he was honest, and even helped me to save more than a few bucks on some repairs. Since then, I have never missed an oil change, and every time my P.O.S. Volkswagen has an issue, Paul and his staff have surpassed my expectations. And my bill is always less than what they quote me (always a bonus!). They are very timely, my oil changes dont take very long, and I can usually bring a book or magazine while I wait. Before I get too comfortable, its already time to go.
