About one month ago(around Feb. 6, 2013), I went to Salon Red Midtown to get my hair colored only, because just a few days(Feb. 11, 2013) later I had a cut and keratin treatment scheduled at a different salon. I was told it would be best to get my color done first. So I chose Salon Red, and especially because there was a ScoutMob for this salon! I go there for my 4:30 appointment, I arrive on time but still have to wait a few minutes. And that’s okay, I wasn’t going to let that little bit of time that Cartez was late to do my hair bother me. I show him a couple of pictures of what I might like. I had an ombre to start with. He went against both pictures, and told me he had something really great in mind that I will love. I was trusting him and went with it. After being there for 4 hours, it turned out not so well. Upon leaving, Cartez and the manager were both surprised when I wasn’t excited about my hair. I told Cartez, “just like the ombre, maybe it needs to grow on me, because it took me a while to get used to my ombre.” What went wrong with this color job, was that he changed my all over color(darkened it, and that’s okay) and gave me blonde highlights with 4 inch roots. That was the part that bothered me. My hair is really long, so 4 inch roots look bad on long hair. It also looks splotchy from the back, quite like leopard print. I got the courage up to call, about 5 days after this appointment, after having my keratin treatment. The stylist who did my keratin treatment at Paragon kind of embarrassed me and talked me into calling your salon back. He asked if I needed my roots touched up, and when I told him I had just had my hair done 5 days ago, he told me to call immediately after leaving his salon. I called, and talked to a nice female(not sure of her name) who offered me an adjustment color appointment. I told her that I had just gotten a keratin treatment that day, and that I cannot have any color put on my hair for 2 weeks because it could strip the keratin. I told her who did my hair, and asked if I needed to stop by to show her and she said “No, I trust what you are saying.” Yesterday, I arrive for my appointment. Moses greets me with a warm greeting, sits me down in the chair and asks what I would like done. We have a consult, and then he says “Adjustment colors are supposed to be done within one week of the initial color, we will have to call “the office” to see if they will still grant this.” I wait patiently, only to find out that my adjustment color will not be granted and was told by Moses if he did it, if I didn’t pay, he would have to pay for the service provided to me. I was disgusted at that point and told him I did not want them to fix the color. On the phone when scheduling the adjustment color appointment, I was not told it had to be within one week of the initial appointment. Needless to say, I left crying, with no apologies from the staff. I was also shocked that they didn’t push the March 50% hair services deal, to try to get me to pay for them to fix it. And even more shocked that they didn’t try to help me at all that that point.

I went to try out Salon Red because of a Scout Mob deal they were running. I made an appointment for their next opening, which was a bit over a week later but just in time for my trip out of town. When booking the appointment, I let them know Id be using their 50% off coupon which they took note of. The day of my appointment i went to cash in my Scout Mob deal and it wasnt functioning. I kept getting an error message. I had other people try to access the system on their phones...they got the same problem. I called the salon to let them know what was happening but they couldnt care less. I could keep my appointment but unless I could show them the coupon, they wouldnt give me the discount. I explained the story, how the discount was noted at my time I booked my appointment, that the app wasnt working correctly etc, they wouldnt budge. I just got off the phone with them. They said they had actual customers to see to and canceled my appointment. Now I have less than 24 hours to actually find someone to do my hair before I leave town. We all know thats not going to happen. They could have very easily told me to come in anyway. They still could have given me the discount and they would have had the hairdresser making money and receiving a good tip for the trouble! Now, they get a not so flattering review instead

I have been to many salons around Atlanta and have finally found a home at Salon Red with my favorite stylist, Miranda. I spent a great afternoon there yesterday and got a beautiful new haircut and color. I have already gotten so many compliments and feel like a new person with this great style. Despite the fact that I felt rather cryptic with my thoughts about what I wanted done ("Ummm... maybe fuller up top, take weight out at the bottom, maybe stacked up or layered or something in the back. I dont know... Do you know what I mean?"), Miranda gave me a style that looks incredible and suits my face. My blond hair has gotten way too light with not enough contrast over time with processing. Miranda successfully brought it back towards its natural base color while giving me the blond highlights that make my hair color unique and "eye-catching". I always get tons of compliments on the color. Miranda is easy to talk to, has a positive and upbeat disposition, and makes a salon trip a lot of fun. Kristine does my brows and always does a wonderful job. The Salon is very laid back, friendly, and I dont get the sense of a whole lot of "drama" and personality conflicts that I have witnessed in other environments. Its definitely a great experience and I highly recommend Miranda!

DO NOT GO!!!! The manager and owner are NOT GOOD PEOPLE!!! Trust me, I was a long time patron of Salon Red (out of convenience), but within the last year Ive watched my hair stylist (and one other), who was one of their best, quit in protest of the management. To top things off, the manager at Salon Red then tried to squeeze money out of the stylist, and then slapped her with a court order. Need more proof that this business is not run on the up and up? I once scheduled an appt with my usual stylist, but when I arrived, they said she was not working that day. I asked to reschedule and they proceeded to try and convince me to use another stylist who would charge me double what my usual price would be. No understanding, no compensation, they just tried to soak me. I am not a lawyer, so contract issues aside, Salon Red is NOT a good place to put your hard earned cash. In addition, their rates have gone WAYYYY up and the last time I went in without booking my normal stylist, I was charged $80 for a MENS cut!!! So the final verdict: DO NOT patronize this establishment because the manager and owner are NOT good to their employees, and you will likely walk out with an average cut and a very light wallet.
