Normally a huge fan of Aveda salons, I am wildly unimpressed by this one. $235 was my total today. Fine. Im used to that. And, I dont get highlights often. Ordinarily I have long, curly hair. With the bridge out, I wanted to avoid traveling to Buckhead to see my usual stylist. Huge mistake. Highlights and a cut. I even provided a picture. A picture of a girl with the cut. Same textured hair. Same type of curls. Highlights. Multiple times I said, "I dont like many highlights. I like it to look natural. I dont like anything stark. And, Id like some layers. Heres a picture showing the length and cut Im comfortable with." I already had highlights. Its not like it was a blank slate. And, the picture? Well, it was just a 4 inches or so shorter version of the same style I went in with. How did this prove to be so difficult? I was told I was given a Senior. I asked for a Master. I was assured the Senior was professional and experienced. $235. And, now I have to go to Buckhead anyway and pay my actual hair stylist to cut and color my hair. Why? I have a mushroom sitting on top of a mullet. A bleach blond mullet-mushroom at that!! Not since 1987 have I had such a terrible haircut! I basically have an anything but natural blonde bleach job rather than the subtle highlights I asked for. 4 inches turned into somewhere around 6. Its likely Ill lose another 2 in getting this fixed. Not to mention the additional money. In a pinch? Go to Great Clips. Dont waste your money here. As an aside, a gal came in while I had 8 pounds of foil in my head (I even made a comment that it was heavier than any other foil Id ever had.) and asked for bangs. She specifically told the gal doing my hair the type of long side bangs she wanted. The poor girl left in near tears. Instead of long side bangs, she left with blunt cut short bangs and there was no side sweeping happening with those bangs anytime soon. She was not too pleased. She argued with the stylist, Christine, and told her thats not what she asked for. Christine only argued back and then basically turned her back to this customer. Christine blew my hair out. It took her forever to do it. In fact, I sat longer waiting for her to get my hair straight than I did for the horrible highlights. And, she couldnt get it straight. She ended up having to use a flat iron and TONS of product. Ive NEVER had anyone else use anything but a brush and dryer (and minimal product). When I saw it, I was HOPING that the lighting in the shop made it look more blonde than it was really. When I saw the cut I initially thought it looked weird only because of the fact that it was straight. It was blunt and uneven. But, hey curl cutting is always evolving, right? This is an Aveda salon. Cant go wrong, right? Nope. Mushroom-mullet. A bleach blonde mushroom-mullet. It looks like two hairstyles got married and gave birth to some alien haircut which now rests atop my head! Im so annoyed. Christine should not be doing hair. Not without a LOT more training. Im a little humiliated to walk around like this for the next 5 days until I see my actual hair stylist. The one, you know, who didnt pull her license from the bottom of a Cracker Jack box. Seriously. Im adding to this review because I think its workth the mention. Something I didnt notice Saturday but did once I realized the only thing I can do with my crappy mullet-mushroom do is pull it or pin it back is that my bleach-blonde "highlights" dont even go to my scalp. I have chunky gap. And, now some of it has turned a bit orange. Good grief! As an added bonus, while I was at church yesterday, no fewer than 5 people I know commented on this hair. Im a bit embarrassed. When my daughter saw my hair for the first time, she commented, "Oh my gosh! What did they do to your hair?" She tried to help pin it back for me to no avail. Her friend said, "Oh, wow! Thats bad." My stylist commented, "Did you go to a school or a salon? Thats really sad." Still nothing personal from owner.

This review is long over due, but I see Charlie and have been for a while now. Im a hair stylist myself and to trust another person with my curly afro takes a lot. I was dying my hair with Pravana vivids locked in purple, regular Pravana vivids purple, ion magenta, ion fuchsia, ion deep purple, and basically anything that was purple and a dye. I grew sick of the sight of my fried purple curls and finally bit the bullet and contacted Charlie for a consult. I came in for my first appointment quite nervous, but she broke down the process , which by the way I knew already and hated knowing the work it would take but needed to hear it from her and to be firm about it, the process to going back to a bronde. Its taken a few visits and trims, however, Charlie nails it every time to where I dont have to fret or worry what my hair is doing. Being a hair stylist as well if she made a mistake I would know hands down. My then purple fro is now a highlighted curly Bob that I rock everyday and welcome the confidence it brings me. I highly recommend Charlie to everyone out there needing a change or just a subtle routine hair session.

Saw a man here a few months ago. Dont remember his name, but he was bald, white, somewhat tall. Anyway, he was horribly rude to me. I know he was trying to be realistic about my hair (which is fine textured), but didnt make any attempt at all to please me or make me feel better about the process. He cut my hair unevenly, leaving the left side a few inches longer than the right. The haircut was bland and he literally spent maybe ten minutes on it. I just hate feeling like he didnt care and wanted to go home (it was towards the end of the day). To this day it still bothers me. Id had good experiences at the salon before and thats the only reason that Id go back. But Id never get my hair done by him again.

Pretty shitty business model. I received a coupon for a free haircut a month or two ago and tried to use it a few weeks later. They would not honor it because its only good Monday-Thursday, even though it says this nowhere on the coupon. I was finally able to go today, and was told that since these coupons are only handed out for "new talent" stylists and they didnt have anyone in that category currently working, I could either pay for a haircut or come back again to a location that is 45 minutes from where I live. Again, the coupon does not say any sort of restrictions. My haircut is great but this experience made sure that I will never go back.

Horrible! If you have thick and/or curly hair look elsewhere!! I went for a wash and style (no cut, no color.) I was there for 2 hours, paid $72!??! And walked out looking like I did my hair myself. Absolutely ridiculous! Extremely overpriced..Ive never paid $72 for a wash and style..and it wasnt a formal style, all they did was blow dry my hair and put a few curls in (which I had to ask for a few curls or I wouldve walked out looking like a super hot frizzy mess!!!) I will never return and would not recommend to my worst enemy! If I could give 0 stars I would!
