Maria is the BEST!!! I have tried Yudi and even Gladys the owner, but Maria was better for my daughters hair. We have been going there for over a year now and I have even taken my friend’s girls and their hair was lovely after Maria worked her magic on it! Yes, they are a little bit slow and bad on scheduling, but it’s a hair salon and thats to be expected. I always drop my daughter off and find out directly from Maria how long it will take based on how many are in front and I just use that time, as mommy time, I go and get my nails done close by or get a drinks at Papaduex with some friends or go to the Park down the street and get my walk in or whatever errands I am running. I usually scheduled my appointment online and I always TIP Marie, because my daughters hair is always very nice and bouncy and well trimmed. The staff is nice enough and they are very accommodating to their clients, so I tip them because they are after all providing a service that would take me hours to do myself and probably burn my daughter hair in the end if I tried it myself! It’s a hair salon, you cannot expect to go in there on a weekend and get serviced right away. I LOVE them (Maria) and highly recommend. There is another lady there, that is kind of think, I don’t know her name, but have watched her work and she is very good too. I have seen her wash and condition sew in weaves and tighten it and straighten it, I would go to her to take care of my weave! They are trying to grow their salon so you cannot expect them to have (8) stylist in the shop on a Tuesday, it makes no sense to pay people to hang out. If they have appointments booked for that day, then they should come in or if it’s a busy day. I don’t understand some of the other comments by people who expect any salon to be fully staffed on slow days.

I set up a 12:30 SUNDAY appointment online for this salon, but I made it there early. The receptionist took my information, gave me what I would call a ticket with my service details on it, and shortly after I was heading to the shampoo bowl! So far, and contrary to what other reviewers are saying, I thought the appointment option was professional, not a negative of Dominican salons! They wash and condition thoroughly. After my hair was conditioned, they twisted my hair up in several sections-at this point I asked about roller setting. It was explained my hair was naturally too curly to be roller set, and the heat involved with that process would stress my hair. I had NEVER heard this before. In fact, at Lillys Hair Plus EVERYONE gets roller set, and placed under a dryer. I was questioning whether Yudi was correct, or not. But let me tell you...YUDI was absolutely correct! My scalp was not burning, and I sat under the dryer just enough to soak up the excess water for easier management! My hair never looked and felt better. I even had to get my ends clipped from all the excess heat prior. NOTE: Just because you have...ethnic hair does not mean your hair can handle excessive amounts of heat, or roller sets are right for your hair! I saw this with my own eyes this past weekend. Yes, they do use flat irons, but it was only to finish sealing my edges and to seal the moisture further. Honestly, I prefer that rather than the blow dry ONLY as my hair collects heat, that method is uncomfortable and leaves my scalp on fire! Shout out to the ladies who definitely helped to whip my hair back into shape: Yudi, the lady who shampooed me (I never got her name), the lovely receptionist, and Maria!! I would definitely recommend this salon to naturals...

First off, I normally never write reviews but this place is absolutely TERRIBLE! I have been here 4 times at all different times of the day and no matter what there is ALWAYS at least a 1 to 1.5 hour wait just to get your hair washed and set in the rollers. Then they make you wait another 45 mins after your hair is dry to get it blown out and styled.Im sorry but I dont have 5 hours to spend in a hair salon. There are only 2 women working and both of them are rude and unapologetic for the long wait times. They leave you sitting for 1-1.5 hours without even checking on you or saying"ill be with you shortly." Dont even bother making an appointment because that doesnt mean anything and you will still sit for at least an hour. They charge $60 for a wash and set which is too high. I just left and came down the street to Lillys dominican plus and wass taken care of right away and only paid $25.It helps that they have about 10 stylist working while Dominican Salon only has 2. Also there is no signal in there and no wifi or air conditioning or fans so its extremely smoky.Im never going there again and just for the poor customer service and long wait times theyve lost a loyal customer.

I used to live in Roswell, GA and would frequently visit this salon because these ladies were amazing! I currently live in Huntsville, AL and I STILL come to Gladys to have my hair done! I dont have a lot of faith in stylists because I have had a lot of nightmare situations. But I trust Gladys with my hair above anyone else! I would rather go 8 months without a trim than go to anyone else. If you havent been here... youre missing out. Just went up there this past weekend (Oct 11) and I have had women come up to me and tell me how gorgeous my hair looks for the last 3 days. Yesterday, I met a stylist walking her dog tell me how much she loved my hair. I dont care what these other reviews say.... their loss if they dont go back. More openings for me! Now, if only I could lure Gladys to Huntsville some way....

Would avoid at all costs. The owner is incredibly rude. Most Dominican salons take walk in appointments. I called before coming since it was close to the end of the day and they said I could come in. When I got there, instead of being greeted with a smile, I was chastised and reminded of the closing time. She said she would take me but mumbled under her breath. If you dont want the business, or needed me to come another time, she should have told me before I called and used the gas to travel across town to the salon. I reluctantly decided to stay and watched her as she made sarcastic remarks to her staff and treated them badly. It was such a bad experience. Would highly recommend visiting another salon.

They are okay. Dominicans dont flat iron! They roll, wrap, sit you back under the dryer and thats it. Making an appointment is a joke. They do it for their staffing so they know how many stylist they need to tell to show up for work. My salon was closed today and my kid needed to get her hair done for school. We made the appointment for 3.30 and we r still sitting here with the conditioner on. Only one girl is working! I wont give her a tip. Sorry but she needed to call her boss to send someone over! Never again!
