If you want to see what its like to have mail service in a third-world country, then use the Powder Springs post office (or live within its delivery area). There are no real words in the English language to describe the level of incompetence that comes out of this building. Sometimes you get mail... sometimes not. Packages are never scanned, and its the norm to see something say it was already delivered when you track it when in fact, its in a truck (maybe) waiting an extra day (or two or three) to be delivered to you. They leave their main phone line off the hook so as not to be bothered and their "back door" number many times is also taken off-hook for periods of time (this comes to me by an actual employee at that location - one of maybe 2 decent ones in that whole building). This person, who works there, tells me they NEVER use the USPS to mail anything or receive any packages. They said its nearly impossible to get fired and that most at this location are not qualified to even correctly slide a piece of mail into a box, much less sort correctly. The scanning issue they said, is just plain lazy down the line. If for whatever reason you have to move to this area, move North of the actual town of Powder Springs, and confirm that your mail will NOT be coming from this location. If you have to mail things out, go out of your way to go to the Dallas, GA or some other location to do it rather than Power Springs. Youll at least stand a small chance of having your stuff make it.

UPDATE: After driving all the way across town discovered the package the carrier marked "undeliverable" was clearly printed without any issues. It was perfectly readable. I asked why it was marked undeliverable and he gave himself a moment and said, "Probably on the wrong truck." More like the carrier wanted to get their day over with so marked it undeliverable. Outrageous this type service goes unchecked! From earlier: This post office, if you can call it that, is the worst Ive ever experienced! No sense of urgency, never answer the phone - and I mean EVER! I called USPS 800 number and explained I have a package out for delivery and came home to find my mail carrier exiting my lower driveway but my package was no where to be found. USPS customer service told me to call the post master out of my local post office and I laughed. I told her they take the phone off the hook first thing in the morning and dont put it back on until closing. She said shed file a report and I laughed again. I told her USPS doesnt give a crap or they would not be able to take the phone off the hook for the two years that Ive been here. She said the supervisor can tell where the package is according to the gps. I said, sure... after I drive all the way to the otherside of my zip code to the post office to speak with the supervisor. Absolutely the worst service.. there is NO SERVICE. Outrageous that we have no choice but to pay for lousy service!

If you want to know what its like to live in a third world country, then move to Powder Springs and use the Postal Service here. Im over 50 years old and have relatives in another state who work for the USPS, so Im very sympathetic to stuff they all have to go through, but this has got to be one of the worst post offices in all of metro Atlanta (and beyond). Residential deliveries are frequently late or in some cases, days are skipped. Its not uncommon for your neighbors to get your mail as we see many of the delivery people using their personal cell phones while making deliveries regularly, as well as ditching their USPS shirts and just wearing street clothes. Most in my neighborhood will actually drive 10 miles to the next towns post office to use them in order to avoid going to the one in Powder Springs. Packages to businesses are delivered after-hours many times, so taken back to the P.O. where you have to call to see if its there or out for delivery again - and regularly get a busy signal or hung up on. Well, I could go on but you get the idea. If you have to use the mail service... at all... move somewhere that isnt served by the Powder Springs branch of the Post Office!

Worst post office ever. My package was miss handled. First they didnt follow procedures. Carrier was given false information by neighbor saying we moved so he took his word and took all my mail without checking... Mind you, there wasnt a change of address form completed. He Scanned my package (important) delivered before they actually delivered it. I never received package and Im told, "once a package is scanned delivered it cant be re-scanned". So I went to the post office looking for package, the delivery supervisor, Mrs crum was very unprofessional, very rude, and somewhat sarcastic. She or no one knows where my package is. "Its either sent to there forwarding facility which is in another state or returned back to sender! They supposed to hold mail at least 10 days before doing anything. But I went there the day after and it somehow dissappeared. now Im being told by district, that there sorry for there miss handling and that theres nothing they could do. I just have to wait and see if it gets re delivered or if they sent it back to sender. But again, theres no way of knowing because it cant be re scanned! !! VERY BAD BUSINESS! !!!

I just had the worst experience of my life in a U.S. post office(Powder Springs GA). I dont know if Lawanna the person at the counter was incompetent, didnt care or in some weird way was trying to provoke some inappropriate response. During most of this 30 minute episode to mail two packages the manager Reginald stood right behind me and at the next counter postal employee Lynn Williams witnessed everything. I will give one example of what I went thru. According to Lawanna you cannot have the mailing address appear more than once on a box and she made me get out of line and remove it. Then later Reginald said that was optional. During my ordeal there was several circumstances like this that lead me to believe Lawanna just wanted to make the process as difficult as possible for me. I cannot believe a US citizen could be treated like this by Postal employees.

Waiting on a package supposed to be delivered today and received no mail at all today!!! Package tracking said it could not be delivered with no explanation!! In addition, i had mail on hold for vacation and chose to have it redelivered instead of pick it up. Worst mistake i couldve made. The mail for the week was lost! They couldnt find it and it had been marked as delivered. I had two packages in that mail and was very upset i didnt receive the stuff i paid for! Had called several times with no success for even the slightest help so i had to drive there in order to get helped. Nothing became of the help and never heard back. I called with no luck and ended up driving back there to see if they found it. They never found it. To top it off, my mailbox has been broken twice by mail carrier in past two years!!!! Literally pulled it down...
