I hoped to write a 5 star review, but Imma keep it all the way real. I think locs may be the only thing they excel at. Lois (which the Locmamas website says specializes in braided styles) did my Marley twists. Boy, do they look bad. I should have known what the deal was going to be as I heard her complain about how tired she was throughout the entire time I was there. I asked for mid-back Marley twists and here is my problem with what I received: not all of my twists were mid-back or even the same size. She cut a lot of the twists so short that it only came to my ears/neck. I did not ask for layers upon layers, I asked for mid-back! It is also not a full head of braids and looks like I didnt even add any extension hair, thats how skimpy it is. I guess when you get tired at work, you stop doing your best. I dont recommend Lois to braid your hair. Go somewhere else just in case she might be tired. This is the worst job done on my hair Ive ever received in my life. I feel disrespected, cheated, and not valued as a customer. As someone who works a service job as well, Ill be as tired as I want to be and still give my clients my very damn best. Never do I think I should slack just so I can be comfortable, leave early, whatever the case. You should always do right by people. I guess not everyone has the same work ethic and values. Find another braider.

I recently visited for my starter locs. I was greeted with warm smiles upon entering. The energy of the salon and the staff is very positive and soothing. Even the other clients were friendly and professional. Originally I was a bit nervous about making such a drastic change to loc my hair. However, I was immediately put at ease. I had an awesome experience! Michelle did an outstanding job on my hair! She is SUPER TALENTED. She also has such a sweet spirit and I love her energy. I must also shout out Tonya. She did an excellent job shampooing my hair and "scratching" my scalp. It was sooo relaxing. She also is a sweetheart! I cant say enough positive things about LocMamas. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Michelle and I am very picky btw. LOL! I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews before a friend referred me to Michelle. I know the importance of reviews, good or bad. Therefore, I had to take the time to share my experience. I hope this helps! :)

Love. Love. Love... This shop and my stylist... Michelle. I have been coming to this shop for almost 3 years. I normally have no idea how I want my hair. Michelles creativity is what I admire. When I dont know what route to take... She steers me in a good direction. My hair has grown a lot since I started coming. The shampoo assistant is great as well. She takes her time to shampoo and massage your scalp. The location is easy to get to with plentiful parking. I have referred a ton of people here. They all rave about their hair. People stop me on the street all the time and end up coming to Michelle. Try her out. You will be pleased. Shes quiet at first but its just because she is focused on her craft. I respect that.

I like my starter locs that were installed and the minimal use of products that were used in the process of creating them, however Im already starting to see that too much was applied due to unsightly flaking. In addition, I dislike how roughly my hair way handled. I dont believe in mishandling kinky hair, it should be handled with lots of care and finese. Also, the loctician wasnt very informative about locs. She didnt share much information about them. As a person new to locs I think she could have done a better job with me. Overall I am not 100% satisfied with my experience.

if i could give 0 stars i would. hair was done ok but customer service is everything to me. the shampoo lady was pretty nice but the owner with the bald head was not informative about my hair with it being my first time AT ALL. she just wanted to take my money and get me out of there. pretty rude
