Doesnt surprise me that this place has a majority of reviews at 1 star. Ownership is a joke. I dont typical have time to write reviews, but for this one Im going to spend some time.. Heres the story - Decided to look for a gym to get a membership, and I thought to myself, hey let me do some shopping around and see what I can find (Not committing to anything today) but ill weigh in my options. First stop, Fitness 19. From the name the monthly membership should be $19 dollars a month, right? I was a customer when they first opened up AT NINETEEN DOLLARS A MONTH. Sounds good? Nope. I was approached by a sales rep, named Shawn. Shawn showed me around, was very polite, understood my situation. Great guy. After the tour, we sat down and went over prices (because thats all that matters.) Two options, pay this cheap $7 monthly membership, annual fee, and a ridiculous start up fee. The other pay $33 a month and pay a small fee, plus annual fee. Great. I said thank you, and im going to think about it. Shawn than said, "Hey let me call the owner and see what I can do?" That should have been the first red flag. He comes back and says "Ill waive these fees if you sign up now and you have 30 days to decide for a full refund." Sweet. I did it. Did some shopping around and found a better price and cheap monthly fee, with more gyms than Fit19. Mind you, my sister has a membership for $19 a month and paid $0 to start up, at Fit19. I called back and said "hey, i found a better price somewhere else can you match it?" They said we cant do that the cheapest would be $30. I said ill come in and chat, or cancel. No big deal, not trying to argue with anyone. This is all the same day, mind you. I walk in and was approached by "the owner" whos voice got louder and louder and the hand motions got more vigorous after each sentence hahaha what a joke! I tell him, that im not looking to argue and if they can match it, great - if not, ill cancel and get my refund. Civilized. He said Ill do $25 a month. Awesome that they say we cant go lower but then go lower in price hahaha. Im not paying $30 a month for a gym that has no pool, locker rooms, and all the other perks i can get with another gym. He then continues to roll his eyes like a little girl after every response I gave him and says "how many time are you even going to come in? 3?" What a horrible response, FROM AN OWNER. He even then says "what does $5 a month really do for you?" First of all buddy, learn customer service 101. I should have said, yeah exactly WHAT DOES $5 A MONTH REALLY DO FOR YOU? But because I wasnt prepared for this "owner" to make that comment, I didnt think. Wish I said so much more and made a scene in there because he deserved it, not the employees. Can you match it or not? I didnt go back in there to get a tutoring lesson on how I should spend my money. Maybe if this guy stayed behind his glass window and did no communication with customers, they would have some better reviews. Now I know why and Im happy this happened because this guy doesnt deserve my money. If Shawn offered me the $25, I would have taken it. But because this guy decided to give me a "tutoring lesson" about why $5 dollars a month was no big deal, I said give me refund. Learn competition. Give those lessons to your employees not your customers. Thanks for the lesson buddy and best of luck to Fitness 33!

If youre interested in joining a fitness club with shady business practices, zero integrity, thats run by an unprofessional and unethical supervisor then Fitness 19 in Buffalo Grove is the club for you. Learn from my mistake, and dont join a club that has no corporate contact information on the website. If you have a complaint you have to deal with a supervisor, Alex E., who obviously knows nothing about customer service or fair business practices. They dont keep records of who they bill, only records of those that dont pay. So when they charge you when theyre not supposed to the only way for you to get refunded is to prove to them that theyre incompetent by faxing them or bringing in your bank statement. No apology for their mistake just an inconvenience so that theyll have a record for their accountant. Alex E. will even encourage you to visit their website to try and find someone to call to discuss his poor customer service practices, knowing full well that that information doesnt exist. I encourage you to research the multiple complaints about Fitness 19 online before you join this club. Save yourself the aggravation and spend a few more bucks to join a reputable facility. Im sure Im not the first person to be ripped off by Fitness 19 in Buffalo Grove.

Im not sure why all of the 1 star reviews of this gym. Ive been coming here for a little over 2 months now. I got a ridiculously good price to come here. Its so good I dont want to tell you because you might go in there asking for that. When signing up the woman working the desk was very up front with any charges and I received a full breakdown of the whole contract. She also let me know that once i cancel that it takes 2 or 3 months for it to take effect. So if i cancel, Ill work out in the meantime until its officially cancelled. For the price Im paying I really dont care. I knew exactly what i was getting with this gym. No it doesnt have a pool or a big locker room with showers, but duuuuuh for the price thats what this is. You gotta be realistic. If you want those things go pay $60 a month at the local health clubs. Plenty of treadmills/ellipticals/bikes, tons of newer machines, and free weights are more than adequate. Its also never crowded so i have plenty of space to do what i like which is awesome. They also have a spare studio that is usually used for people working abs or stretching and other things. Another plus is theres no half naked people dropping weights grunting and flexing in front of mirrors. Love this place

Fitness 19 is a GREAT place to work out! Everyone is so friendly and the owners and staff are accommodating and wonderful to be around! The new facility just opened and it is fabulous! It is very clean, spacious, there is brand new equipment, and there is a terrific area for the new classes they are starting (yoga, bootcamp, zumba, etc.). The personal trainers at the club give you incredible workouts catered to your needs. Fitness 19 is the perfect place to go where you can workout and feel good about yourself!

The staff at this location are inconsiderate and rude. It took them well over a month to cancel my membership and when I requested a refund for not only the December dues they charged me but also the annual maintenance fee that I was charged while waiting for my membership to be cancelled, I was refused. I was also told in a condescending voice from a sales manager that he "hoped I had learned a lesson and will send letters certified mail in the future." If you want to keep customers, you need to treat them better!
