Being a knowledgeable car guy, I brought my car in due to some engine sputtering. I told the representative/mechanic that I had already changed the spark plugs, spark wires and I simply thought it was the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor that was dirty. I even gave him the engine codes from a scan I personally performed that pointed to this. He insisted that I still needed to pay the 65$ diagnostic fee. He assured me that what I offered where merely codes and guesses and that he couldnt fix the car until I agree to this diagnostic. I was in a hurry to get back to work (I was on lunch); so I agreed. I waited an hour, only to hear some bullshit about that my valves where out of sync with the motor, and that a special tool needed to be used to put them back in sync. I asked him, are you saying my timing belt jumped a tooth?, he looked puzzled and back tracked and said, not just some spacing is needed in the valves. I just wanted to laugh as I know this isnt possible. He then quoted me for 900$ to fix the problem. I then informed him why it was so expensive and he starts listing some parts I need to replace. He also stated my car was pretty new so he wanted to put OEM parts instead of aftermarket parts. This is my junker, its a 2002 honda civic 14 years old.. I paid 1,500 for it. There was no way I was about to pay $900. Heres the real kicker.. I told him that if he could let me look at the parts list, he wouldnt let me look at his notes.. I then stated what if I would buy the parts myself and bring them here to get them installed.. He then replied that if I did that, they couldnt guarantee the work.. I just smiled and had enough of them trying to take advantage of me.. I went back to my trusty mechanic that is unfortunately much further away (1 1/2 hours). And in the end I was right, it was simply a dirty MAF sensor that got fixed with a 10$ Can Cleaner. What a ripoff Avoid Davila Auto like the Plague. P.S.You should always use caution when the first word "Honest Auto Repair shop" is used by the owner to describe their business. Shops often try to use words to hide their actual motives. One last note, I spoke to them in Spanish which is the standard in this neighborhood. Usually speaking the lingo makes business realize they shouldnt try to scam you, as you may be a local. Nope I can only imagine if you are a girl or dont speak the language how badly they want to screw you. Sorry for long review but I hope it saves you the $$$ I lost with a useless diagnostic fee.

Disregard the fact that this place is a Triple A approved facility. This shop will hammer you almost twice the fee as any other auto shop...I suppose this is because you are entitled to 10% discount if you are with triple A. However, they will charge you exorbitantly for tests you have not authorized unless you agree to have your car fully serviced there. And triple A will hold you at ransom until you pay these people whatever amount, unknown to you at the time you call them to have your vehicle towed there, ask for; and triple a will not move your vehicle even if the price of your car is less than the price that they request to do a simple procedure (which costs half the price in many other shops). Even worse, even if you have been a loyal customer to Devila in the past, these people are still obstinate and stubborn in helping address your concerns. They will tell you one thing, and tell Triple A another. Be cautious of the other reviews. Some of them may have been written by biased individuals with an agenda.

I had problems with my ignition sticking. It came to a point where I could no longer take my key out of the ignition. I did a quick search for mechanics near my home and found this place. Noticed that it was rated A+ with the Better Business Bureau and saw these reviews. I took my car in at 1:30 for a quote. The mechanic was not only friendly but explained to me exactly what the problem could be. Gave me a rough quote of anywhere between $150 - $300. Told me that they would probably have it done by end of the day, if not, tomorrow. Got a call at 5pm the same day. The mechanic told me that it was going to be $229 and it was ready! Ignition replaced, two new keys, coded, and its starting smooth. I really couldnt have been more pleased with this place. Would definitely go back.

I went in for a low beam replacement. I asked the guy to check if it actually needed to be replaced or just reattached, as it was working correctly at the time. He said it would be $85, as he needed to remove 3 screws. I repeated his sentence, to make sure I heard that correctly and, yep, $85 for a 5 minute work. I flew out there, went to another shop 5 minutes away and paid $10. Huh, what do you know? Reviews coincide, thats what I know

Ive come here several times over the years with random car problems and they seem to get the repair done right the first time and at a reasonable price too; theyve been a good honest shop to me.
