Hi, I normally dont leave reviews but thought to give one here. I started using Davis to clean all my clothes about a few months ago. I went to their location then found out they have a van that can come and pick up so I started using the van pick up from my house. I live in the south loop so its more convenient to have the "Free" pickup and drop off. I must say that the van service is awesone. They call me when close to drop of on Saturday morning. The delivery guy is always the same and he is awesome and friendly As for the cleaning. So far theyve done a great job on my suits, sweaters, dress shirts, pants and combo leather items. They even stuff the arms with tissue paper. The packaging is great and the clothes are clean and fresh. They go so far as to remove the buttons on your garments and sew them back on after cleaning. No more smashed or cracked buttons. You can see ladies sewing buttons all day long at the store if you stop by. Its huge amount of work that obviously goes into this dry cleaning they do. Not many people know. Thus the price to clean items is a bit more but you get more service and detail for it at Davis. Im actually moving to a rural mountain area on the east coast in a few weeks and I found that Davis has a ship program so for my special items I need cleaned I can mail them my dry cleaning. Check it out its on their website. If you go to their shop its the best looking dry cleaner Ive seen in many years. Its clean and done in a 1950s modern look. Their website has a great family story about them and the location dating back to the 50s and 60s. Thanks, see you in the dry clean by mail :) David.

ABSOLUTELY INSANE OVERPRICE!!! Dropped off my 2 Notrhface long down jackets before the "The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year"... I admit i did not ask for a price only because its a pretty standard service - so Im thinking to myself - how much can this possibly be?? $30? $40? even $50 would be kind of steep but still reasonable price for dry cleaning... I almost had a heart attack when they gave me the total.. $67 for a black jacket and $97(!!!) for a cream jacket . I paid close to $170 (!!!!!!) to clean 2 jackets . I could have purchased a brand new jacket for that price. I understand they are on the expensive side but come on that is absolutely ridiculous! I was so shocked and upset after leaving - when I got to my car I called 5 different places in the area for price quotes and surprise surprise - they all gave me a range of $20-$35 at most per jacket. I felt I was taken advantage of and walked back to the cleaners. The supervisor basically told me it is what it is, this is the price and deal with it. She offered me a gift card for $25 which made me even angrier because im never planing to come back there - so she gave me $25 cash back and said its the best she can do. That was nice and I appreciate the effort but it still leaves me with a $140 total for dry cleaning both jackets.Even though they did a good job with the actual cleaning - I feel like I could have gotten the same job quality for LESS than half of what they charged me (even after the $25 refund) and I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone in their right mind and truly feel i got ripped off :(

I was a loyal customer of Davis for 3 years but it ended today. 18 months ago they lost the dress I wore (once) to my rehearsal dinner. It was an expensive Donna Karan dress. They had no record of receiving it. If I did not have the security footage from my doorman handing it to the driver, I would have had no recourse to receive the value of the dress back. My word against theirs. I have had issues with leather pant cleaning but continued to use them for the care of my "important" items. However, I cant continue to deal with the rude service and outrageous pricing. I sent a pair of suede jeans to be cleaned and the bill was $97. They had two small spots on front (only been worn once) and they were going to hand clean them. Apparently suede pant cleaning STARTS at this price. I explained that it was outrageous and if they were going to charge that much, they should have contacted me. Rick was extremely rude and told me as a consumer, I should check the price first if I have a question. So I asked him if the price of cleaning suede was on his cost sheet and he told me that it wasnt. How was I supposed to "forecast" I would be charged a ridiculous price? I told him that I would be taking my business elsewhere (I spend $200-$400 month with this company) and he told me that he didnt care. In dealing with them, they are always right and you the customer have to constantly defend yourself. By the time you have most items cleaned a few times, at these prices, you could rebuy the item.

When I first drop off my items the owner Linda was very welcoming and try very hard to assure you that they will do a good job. I trusted my valuable Chanel items to this dry cleaner b/c they were one of the only 3 "certified couture dry cleaner" in the country. They damaged a few of my items by cutting part of the fabric off when they remove the buttons before cleaning. One of these items were a 10K Chanel couture jacket. When I notified them the manager had to run it by the owner before offering to fix it. In the mean time the owner (Jordan) did not even come out to apologize until I requested to talk to him. When I asked how this could happen in a "established dry cleaner" he simply say it just happen and they frequent have ppl trust them with 1K dress shirts . No apology what so ever. Just attitude that they have dry clean high end items often. I am very upset with their service and the way they handle the situation. How can you damage someones 10K jacket and compare it to a 1k shirt and no apology? I know all the high end store recommend them ( I shop at a lot of them) but dont trust this dry cleaner.

I do not recommend Davis Imperial Cleaners for wedding dress alterations, based on my recent experience there. I paid a lot of money (upfront) for a few basic changes to a simple dress, yet the alterations that originally needed to be done were never completed to my satisfaction, and the process was unnecessarily stressful because as they made alterations, aspects that had originally fit perfectly no longer fit! After 4 alterations and fittings, the dress was delivered to me two days before the wedding. However the fit was unacceptable - there were gaps around the side/armholes of the dress that exposed WAY too much of the sides of my chest. I had to take a half day off of work the next day to bring the dress back to Davis Cleaners, and wait for as long as it took for them to fix it on the spot. I was at Davis Cleaners from 2:30p-8pm that day while they fixed it. They managed to fix the armholes but the fit was far from perfect, especially given I had 5 fittings. I expected much more from the reputed "Best In Chicago".
