Want to preface this review by saying that my mail man Harold is the best. Great guy. However, this review is for the post office staff. As another reviewer pointed out there are no pens here. Thats not a lie. You want to fill something out? You need to get out of line, grab a pen from the desk, and then return to line 5 people back. Theres usually one person at the desk while 2-3 others walk like zombies while not making any eye contact with the ever-growing line. Yesterday I went in and tried to pick up a package they left a notice for. I rescheduled the delivery so I could pick it up after work. Go to the post office at 5:45, and am told that the package is not there. Nothing on what I should do next or if I should contact anyone. The woman at the counter was basically telling me, "I looked for it, now its not my problem." So I called them up today, and the woman on the phone kept telling me it was registered mail so I should have told them that. It says that on the freaking slip I gave them. So, long story short, the package was there, they were too lazy to actually find it, and hopefully I can get it today. I prefer the Arlington Heights and Barrington offices over this place. Truly a stereotypical post office. Do yourself a favor and go to the UPS store which can also ship USPS. Its a few blocks away and the staff is great.

We have one of the longest, if not THE longest, route in Mt, Prospect, In the 20 years I have lived here, our carriers have been at best, par. Until now!!! Two days ago I introduced myself to what I can only hope is our new carrier. I stopped my car and introduced myself, asking if he was in fact our new carrier. I told him that I had noticed that our mail was being delivered in a very timely manner. We sometimes do not get delivery until after 5. Anyway he told me that he was on this route for now, but was hoping that it would be permanent. I told him how nice it was to have a younger carrier, and one so friendly. He told me his name was Chris, and I told him mine and we went on our our respective ways. When I took my mail out of my mail box, there was a very pleasant note from Chris thanking me for thanking him for his service thus far. He also said to say hello when I see him. I was absolutely shocked, Again, in my 20 years at this address, my carriers have never said hello let alone telling me their name or leaving a note. Much to my delight, I saw him the next day at Busse Car Wash and he again was very pleasant and said hello. This is the type of mail carrier we need. Please keep him and most of all, let him stay on our route. Your department needs some young blood- as evidenced by the rest of the posts on this site!!

The Mount Prospect Post Office is the absolute worst! Anyone wondering why the Us Postal Service is failing need only visit this post office to see why. The clerks move like they are underwater and talk like damaged robots. I waited over 20 minutes in line to mail a box with only four people ahead of me and three clerks on duty! After that, I had to buy my own tape, tape my own box, fill out my own label, and even supply my own pen to fill the label out. The clerk just stood there staring blankly at me like she was under hypnosis when I asked if she had a pen, and while I basically did her job for her. Now, I know Fedex and UPS have their problems, but at least the clerks have a pulse, get your box ready for shipment and treat you like a customer.

Long story short: They lost my insured package and wont accept my claim with receipt. I was mailing a flat rate box with a piece of equipment inside. I bought $350 insurance, bought the shipping label, and put the box in the self-service kiosk. Tracking says the box was never received by the post office, so even though I have all of my receipts, they are denying my claims. This branch has serious problems if it cant even scan a package from the self-service kiosk. DO NOT DROP A PACKAGE IN THE KIOSK. DO NOT LEAVE A PACKAGE AT THE COUNTER UNATTENDED. Wait in line and bring it to the counter. Wait for them to scan it, and give you a receipt. You have to hold their hand the whole way through because they are retarded.

Routinely brought 50 +- packages completely ready to go just scan and tell me how much. One day I was told go to ups its too many pkgs for them. I said isnt that good more business? Was told no we get paid the same if you bring 100 or 1 pkg. Thats why purposefully slow. If they only got paid by amount of business they would come to life and work top speed. Maybe let a few go would light a fire under others to pick up the slack. Start with eliminating the questions regarding adding more services & list of $ examples for ea package after I said send all cheapest way no extras, Im in a hurry. Been here 40 yrs never any different. It can change, been on vacation other states and super speedy & organized.

I want to make clear that a lady, "Delores" if I remember correctly, was GREAT! She was directing people before they got in the line. Because of her is that I am even giving an extra star. Counter clerks need to understand that part of their job is customer service, help and give advise to customers ideally with a smiley face, but thats best scenario. If I just needed to drop off a package/letter I would use ways (internet, machines, drop box). This lady, demanded instructions from me with a really bad attitude. Its a pain to wait inline for about 30 minutes to ask about the best possible way to send packages just to be yelled at. I am invited to not come back and use UPS or FedEx from now on.

Just filed my complaint with district office....I just hope and pray that the person who the Mt. Prospect PO reports to takes all these complaints seriously and institutes changes, starting with 1. requiring more than 1 window teller when there are many people in line, 2. reviewing the performance of those tellers who, to be kind.... "do not care", and 3. clarifying the policy of scanning pre-prepared Ebay packages by tellers...some do, some dont. (what is the actual PO policy???) Should have started this process years ago, as the Mt. Prospect PO worse than ever.

I agree with the previous reviewer. I had to wait to see a manager about finding 6 packages that were scanned into the Mount Prospect post office 6 days prior, yet never delivered. The manager was RUDE and LAZY! She wouldnt even look at the tracking numbers. She told me that she would look in the back ( without my name or tracking number), returned seconds later telling me rudely that my tracking info was wrong , the packages werent there. Shame in you for having such poor customer service.
