The shady used car lot of the plumbing business. Going through my 97yr old fathers bills the other day and I come across a bill from EXPERT PLUMBING in New Lenox. When he was 90 he purchased a BUDGET Gerber round white toilet (the simplest toilet) and was charged $833.00 for the job. Original Estimate was $1064.00 (they gave him 20% off) Their breakdown of the charges: $601.00 for the Gerber "budget" toiler (list price of $832.00) $135.00 for a new water shut off valve on the side of the toilet $97.00 for a one year plumbing warranty / inspection So after looking at this and knowing what this job is all about, I research the materials and find; Gerber white round 1.6gpf 2pc unit is $127.80 Wax ring for mounting toilet $12.00 Water shut off valve $7.87 Total parts and materials $162.44 So that leaves a balance of $670.56 in profit Hmmmmm I think a call is in order. So I place a call and asked if this is the same company and ownership from 2009 and it was stated to me as YES, I asked if I could talk with the owner, I was told NO, I asked for the owners name and was told I could not have that information. (weird) I asked for their shop labor rate, and was told I could not have that either (weird) I asked if a manger could call me back within 48 hrs and was told yes. (there is a start) but no phone call ever happened. (what kind of business is this?) A day or two later I called and asked for an estimate to have a toilet I purchased installed, I was told that they do not give estimates over the phone, I could get a "FREE" estimate when someone came out to inspect the site. All I had to pay was the $65.00 service call fee. Wait, is that a free estimate if I have to pay $65.00??? The next week, I do get to talk to someone called a manager, I had to call,(Theresa) and she gives me the low down as to what she wants me to hear, a lot of talking but no real answers. No shop labor rate, no name for an "owner" just a lot of talk about how well they treat their customers. I assured her I know what this job entailed and starting talking facts and figures which caused her to have to take a day and talk to the "owner" (wait, I thought you were the owner?) So Theresa calls me the next day and tells me she talked with the owner and superintendent and the verdict was that there is nothing she could do because of the age of this situation. (I guess there is a statute of limitations on ripping off old people and I missed it) I asked about this plumbing warranty that was sold to my father on this job, and it was explained that it is not a warranty at all, if something had happened to my dads plumbing during the 1yr period he would have been charged additionally. So I asked what was the warranty. She said they came out a year later and drained his water heater for him, $97.00 for that. (What nice people) So after talking, I figured out why they do not want to tell you about a shop labor rate as it appears to be a "what the cross will bare" case by case situation. My father paid; $508.00 per hour for the water shut off valve -10mins $235.50 per hour for the toilet to be installed -2hrs would be the most for a professional $194.00 per hour to have his water heater flushed -30mins Now I have no problem with a business making a profit, they need to stay in business and pay all the little charges that go with the business,, lights, heat air, fuel, salaries, but I do not believe they need to hit a GRAND SLAM off a 90 year old person on Social Security. Again after presenting all this to the owner "Theresa" it was because so much time has elapsed, and she would do the same to her parents. Yes he signed the estimate, that is not the dispute. In the sense of the law, there is nothing that can be done. I accept this and my only recourse is this forum so that others are aware. Problem is old people do not see these posts. So there will be others to follow. One last thing, make sure that you get their 20% discount like they gave my father. What nice people to do business with.

I used Expert Plumbing Service for the first time this week. They sent out a rep named Chris. I can tell you that he was extremely honest about the work that needed to be done and was not pushy about me doing the work. He sat with me and thoroughly explained his plan of attack and the chances that he would be successful. I asked him a lot of questions and felt that he had a good chance of fixing my problem so I asked him to start immediately. Chris never wasted a minute of time while he was on the clock and used a lot of professional equipment while he worked. He completely fixed my problem and put all the pipes and fixtures back in place. I would highly recommend that if you need emergency work that you not only call this company but that you DEMAND that Chris is the one that comes to your home. You will not be disappointed. -Steve B Mokena, Il.

We have used Expert Plumbing in our home for over 10 years. They have always been professional and very prompt to respond. Lukasz K was their representative for a problem with our ejector pump. He diagnosed the problem and presented us with several options to repair or replace the pump. He presented the pros and cons of each option and let us make the decision. Once we decided to replace, he was very efficient and attentive to detail and his work. He gave us an estimate of the time it would take; he was within a few minutes of that estimate in finishing the job. He explained the process and showed us the steps he was going through during the installation. He was also very attentive to ensure that the whole operation was clean. I would recommend Expert Plumbing or Lukasz K to anyone with home plumbing issues.

Lukasz was awesome. Timely, professional, honest and very knowledgable. We had a long-overdue, costly and annoying (...not to mention embarrassing...) plumbing job that we called Expert Plumbing to evaluate today (8/30/2017). Needless to say, I thought it was going to be one of those, "...well give you a call when we have all the parts..." kind of repair, but Lukasz jumped right on it and finished it in less than four (4) hours. Estimate and cost were right on the money, and weve got this embarrassing plumbing job under control. Whoever reads this should know I have confidence in this company returning for another job with another property very soon. ALL THUMBS UP!! Thanks Lukasz!

They say they have a flat rate for services, but will not give that over the phone. Had them replace a shut off valve in 04 for $160 that included a 4 foot braided line. In 2011 $600 before they said he will give me a 20% discount, not charge me for small area charge and for a fitting. $500 to change a shut off valve? They said they did not charge me correctly in 04. I lost $65, but saved a ton with another company. Called around other union plumbing companies, they gave me free estimates, and prices over the phone. The highest I found was $240. You lose with either way, you have to pay $65 to get them out of your house, or lose by such a high price.
