I have been a member of Knockout Training Club for about three years. It is the only gym I’ve ever felt completely accepted for where I am now in my life – It doesn’t matter your size, age, or level of strength – all are accepted, and we train together as a team. My favorite thing about Knockout is the community and the coaches. The people make me a better person, and to be a part of a larger team/community is an awesome feeling, I used to run a lot of races and the running community is great, I get that same feeling, if not better, at Knockout Training Club. The people always inspire me, and the high intensity training helps me get stronger – I am a person who was intimidated by strength training – I would turn to cardio and use resistance bands as my strength training, and that was it. I knew I needed more, and Coach Jess is always bringing us all to the next level of training, and she truly cares about each Knockout and I feel like while there is a community of strong women training together for the common goal of getting stronger, that each Knockout is also given very personal attention from all the coaches – if you don’t know how to do something, they will show you how. If your form is not right, they will let you know. I went through an injury, unrelated to Knockout but due to running, and I tried everything to “fix” it, and Coach Jess pointed me in the right direction of physical therapy (which I had been reluctant to try), but it was the only thing that helped me heal, and I am now more active than I have been. She checked in with me during my leave and she truly cares about each of us, and it shows. Strength training also helps me get rid of things I DONT want: stress, insecurity, troubles -- each session I dont think about anything else other than what Im doing, and I have never, in the 3+ years Ive been with Knockout Training Club, had the same "workout" twice. To call it a "workout" doesnt even cover it, Im not sure what the word should be, but to me, its magical.

Coach Jess founded Knockout Women’s Boxing Club in 2011 and has since built a truly unique membership of women who empower, support and encourage each other all while pushing through an intense boxing workout. We train like fighters, though our only opponents are our own insecurities. We hit heavy bags in punch combinations that challenge our minds and our muscles. We strength train in circuits that are varied and often difficult, and when we think we can’t possibly complete another rep, Coach Jess is right there with just the right words of encouragement that inspire us to keep going. And it’s fun! Incredibly fun. We come in all shapes and sizes, ages and fitness levels. Through boxing, our bodies change, but we shun scales. For the first time, nobody cares about numbers. Numbers on a scale can’t tell us that our stamina has increased two fold in a month’s time. Numbers on a scale can’t tell us that we’ve gotten faster, stronger or fitter. Coach Jess has taught us that it’s only those things that truly matter, and she’s right. We don’t fad diet and we don’t crash diet. Food is not our enemy; it’s the key to sustaining a strong body and mind- and it’s completely freeing to view it that way, despite the constant barrage of societal messages to the contrary. Philanthropy is also very important to Coach Jess; she continually gives back to the community that has supported her by hosting great co-ed and women only boxing events that benefit important causes such as breast cancer prevention and heart disease research as well as animal rescue organizations. She’s a coach that cares, and that can be felt as soon as you walk into the club. Come join us, and discover what we all now know: you are a Knockout. No matter what.

Ive been a member of Knockout Womens Boxing Club since March 2015. Ive always wanted to try boxing growing up and I found this gym by googling and decided to give it a try! I remember signing up for an orientation for the end of March because it was full on the March 7th. Later that week, I saw a spot opened up and I immediately signed up for it! I didnt want to wait any longer! On the day of the orientation, I was nervous and excited! It actually went by fast and I knew I wanted to become a member. I remember I couldnt complete my burpees and I got my butt kicked during my first week! Now, I can handle burpees! Ive been going there 2-3 a week and I always leave the gym with a smile and in a good mood. I look at Knockout Womens boxing club as my playground. Thank you Coach Jess for all you do. You built this awesome gym for us women where we can train like a boxer and have fun! Thank you for your blogs and reminding us we are beautiful inside and out and screw the media. Thank you for taking your time to train us and making sure were doing it right. Because of your gym and blogs, I got my self confidence back. Thank you Coach Carmen and Coach Lullo for your times coaching us, going around and making sure we are doing it right. Thank you for stopping me and correcting me when I do something wrong! Thank you both for making the class always fun and encouraging us to do our best. Thank you ladies for making it so much fun and always helping me to get better. Also thank you for making sure I get it when I missed / didnt hear something. So ladies... Come and be a Knockout!! You will love this gym!

I stumbled upon knockout after doing a search for "boxing gyms" in my area. I had never been to any type of boxing class but was looking for another form of exercise to mix up my routine. After a bit more research scrolling through the website I decided to give it a chance. Like most, I walked into the gym a little anxious not knowing what to expect. After being greeted at the door, I made it through the basics class and immediately signed up for my membership. Not only did this break the boring routine of my daily workout but it gave me the opportunity to be surrounded by an awesome community of ladies. There are people from all walks of life and different shapes, ages and sizes. I immediately felt welcomed by Coach Jess and Carmen and I cant imagine anyone saying otherwise when they walked into Knockout. So yes, Coach Jess is a rockstar and created an amazing place but what about the workout? Dont worry, I promise you will leave feeling like you got a kick ass workout with plenty of variation. It is Knockout Womens Boxing Club so we do plenty of boxing (non contact) but Jess also mixes it up with circuit training and numerous other exercises. Bottom line, if you are on the fence about Knockout give it a try! I have been a member for around 9 months and am going to have to be kicked out if they want me to leave :)

I am in love with this community of women, that get together for one common goal: to be stronger mentally, socially, and physically. The classes are 45 minutes long and the workouts are different everyday. The variety of the classes keeps me interested in the classes and helps work different muscle groups. Jess teaches us how to box, the different techniques of a good punch, and also demonstrates all the different punches. Her instruction is extremely valuable to improving my skill in boxing. In addition to the workouts, the other benefits of joining this gym are endless. To name one of them, is that you meet some many women of different backgrounds and everyone you meet is extremely kind and helpful. Imagine the world if everyone was as nice to each other as the women here are in this gym. The coaches ( Jess,Carmen, Lullo, and Steph) are extremely friendly and helpful; they never leave you hanging if you ask for help. They are always willing to encourage and to help you become a better boxer. I cannot say anything negative about this place, it is such a positive space to release some energy and to make new friends.
