Take this review for what its worth. I dont claim to be a car expert but this is my recent shady experience at this Meineke location. Upon leaving work my check engine light came on and started rattling like crazy. The closest car repair shop was this Meineke so I pulled in not knowing what was going on or what could be the problem. Again, I dont know much about cars. Upon telling them the issue they told me they could do a diagnostic test for $90.00. I knew of 2 other places in town that would do this for free but fearing the worst I decided to stay there. My own decision and a poor decision at that after finding out the issue and how easy it would be to fix. According to the diagnostic test my spark plugs were blown and a coil and plug needed to be replaced. Thankfully I have a friend who knows cars and was able to explain to me what this meant. The estimate we were given was over $600.00 for Meineke to do the job. My friend estimated he could do it for $180.00 (which he did and I gladly accepted). Upon coming back to the shop and telling them that I was going to have my friend do the repairs they said it would be a 30-40 minute wait because they had to put it back together. My first thought was, why was it pulled apart in the first place? I have had diagnostics done on my car before and they just have to plug it into the computer and check the issue. I shrugged it off, again knowing nothing about cars. Maybe this time it had to be taken apart for some reason, who knows! My friend speculated that they thought I was going to come back to them with an "oh, gee ok....go ahead with the repairs I guess." and were just going to be ready to go quickly when that happened. But, that was just a speculation. Once my guy was able to come and take a look at the car we had the diagnostic results from Meineke that told us what the problem was. Coil 1 and 2 and all spark plugs, got it. After going through the whole process of getting everything pulled out and replaced I got in the car to start it up. Engine light blinks again and my car still sounds awful. Perplexed, we open the hood and start to look again. We then notice that 2 coils have green marks on the top, but they are in slots 3 and 4 (we had a firing order diagram for my particular make and model that told us what each slot was that we got at the shop where we bought our replacement parts). We then start to think that this was possibly the repair man marking the bad plugs for his benefit as the new plugs we bought have no marks on the top what so ever. My guy thinks that this could possibly have been an "accident" of replacing the bad plugs in the wrong slot when they had to put the car back together or an FU for not getting the job done there. Even if it was an accident what a major over site for someone who works on other peoples cars. Either way, it was a weird (and frustrating) situation as we had to undo the work that had just been done and switch the plugs back around again. Once we did that it started up just fine. My car is back to normal now, but after the diagnostic fee and the weird coil "mixup" when I didnt get my repair job done there Im unfortunately going to have to take my business elsewhere. I have gotten my oil changed there as long as I have been in Bloomington and didnt expect this from them. Be it an accident or not.

Dear Google Maps Users, My car needed an oil change, so I searched on Google Maps. The Meineke on 3939 Industrial Blvd had 4.1 stars, so thats where I took my car. I printed out a coupon for a $25 oil change. The older reviews mention a manager named Elvis, but Chad is the manager now. Unfortunately, his employee broke the butterfly plug on my oil pan. He admitted this, and then asked me if they could replace the entire pan. Chad pressured me to do this right away, but I wanted to know how much it would cost, and he said it would cost $649.28. I couldnt afford this, so I asked Chad to put in a temporary plug which cost $13.99, and they also replaced the cabin air filter. Even though I had intended to only spend $25, I ended up spending $82.37 including the oil plug that they broke. I called Chad later to ask for a partial refund of $13.99 for the oil plug, but he wouldnt budge. I took my car to Mission Auto Care, and they replaced the oil pan for $225 which is almost a third of Meinekes $649.28 estimate. Chad uses high-pressure sales tactics, and he gouges his customers. I dont usually complain about businesses, but I will never go to Meineke again, and I will definitely recommend against it to everyone I know. As an alternative, I would recommend Walmart, Mission Auto Care, or High Speed Tire & Auto. If you have any questions about my bad experience, feel free to email me at schackb at umail dot iu dot edu. Regards, Brian Schack

I have been here twice. Both times for basic oil changes. The first time they checked the vehicle over offered me an engine air filter. I declined the filter only because I am comfortable to replace it myself and could save about $5 doing so. Satisfied with the first visit. The second time I came in for an oil change I knew the tires were low on air because the weather just got cold and the TPMS light came on the dash. I had a flyer I received in the mail that said includes air pressure check with the oil change. When I got the car back the TPMS light was still on so it doesnt appear like they checked or filled the air in the tires. There is 1 gas station with free air over by college mall so I can fill the air but leads me to wonder what else was missed? I get oil changes when I get the coupons in the mail so would return as long as the coupons keep coming.

These stupid Hoosiers put a radiator hose on BACKWARDS. The result of which was that it was rubbing against a pulley for one of the belts. This wore 2 grooves in it, and eventually a hole, spewing coolant. When I took it in to get fixed, elsewhere, the guy said he tried the new one and ran into the same problem, so he turned it around the other way and boom, 2 inches of space between them. Further proof that if you want a job done right, dont ask a Hoosier to do it. Either the guys that work here are stupid or lazy, or perhaps both. Thanks for putting me out an extra 60 bucks guys!

Admittedly my experience at this location was very brief, however I was very pleased. The guy at the front desk was friendly. He even gave my friend, who was only picking me up while my car was being inspected, free power steering fluid. After my vehicle was inspected the manager called me and explained that my vehicle was pretty much beyond hope and told me that it would be a waste to put money into at this point, which is something I feared. Despite the tragic news, I was very happy about his honesty and will likely visit again for future inspections or services.
