They took me as a walk-in late Saturday afternoon because of a fortuitously cancelled appointment. My hair had grown into a most unfortunate shape as it was previously cut by my husband, whos criteria for a successful haircut largely hinges on whether my hair fluffs his nose when we cuddle. Enough of that. From their Facebook presence, they seemed a very with-it, happening crowd of people. Which they are. But Im not. Oh so terribly not. Nevertheless, though I was a comical sad-sack walking in off the pavement, they were warm and pleased to serve me and my train-wreck of a head of hair. Even though there was a young hipster man on the premises with an exquisite beard sitting on a painfully chic couch. The haircut was well-done and I feel cute again. I enjoyed talking with Emily, who cut my hair. I smelled of roses when it was all done, much to my husbands chagrin, but he isnt writing this review, nor should you seek his opinion on this or any similar subject. You will end up looking like I did before Emily brought some grace back to my hair. You dont want that. Lordy, lord. No, you want to go Royale Hair Parlor. Its next to the Owlery. Between it and VIP Nail something or other. Anyway. I enjoyed it. Good day.

Im new to the area and this place had the best reviews. I really wanted to love this salon. Sadly I will be looking elsewhere. Initially I was booked for a full highlight but then was told that for what I wanted I would only need a partial. I ended up being charged for a full. The price came out to be $170 which for what I recieved and the time it took the stylist to do it was insane. Ive had my hair completely foiled and highlighted before for cheaper at highly rated salons. I asked for a very light trim as well just to make my hair healthy and Im sure a good chunk of the total was due to that (even though it took all of 5 min and my stylist only had a year experience). The atmosphere of the salon was weird too..none of the stylists even talked to each other. Kind of seemed like they were all robots told to smile and talk nice about the salon. I would not recommend this salon to anyone.

Using Googles rating system as a guide, I chose to try Royale; I had a great experience. I was in B-town visiting and wanted a new style and cut. I called the salon and explained my hair type and what kind of cut I was looking for, with the added request to get in the same day if they had a cancelation. They did have an opening and matched me up with Chelsea. She did a wonderful job of listening to what I was going for including my styling concerns. End result is a wonderful new short haircut for me. Yes, you need to confirm appointment with a credit card (its a trending practice now in the industry); but it is just for reservation and last minute cancelation purposes. Yes, the price for wash, cut, and style was just a little more than an average salon, but this is not an average salon.

I love this salon. After years of trying to find someone who could cut curly hair AND do great color, I have found the place. Emily is my stylist; she uses the Deva system for curly hair for me, and I love it. My hair is very curly and most people cut it while its wet and dont realize how much it will shrink up when it dries; Emily cuts it dry and gives it the best shape ive ever gotten. The salon in general is very nice; beautiful space, friendly and welcoming receptionists, and the product lines they sell are really great. I have to say, if Tabatha from Tabatha Takes Over walked into Royale, I dont think she would find anything that needed to change!

Royale is Bloomingtons best salon. All of the stylists are talented and take their careers seriously. From the moment you walk in youll experience great customer service with complimentary coffee, tea, and water in a clean, modern space. All of the products Royale uses and sells are environmentally friendly and make your hair look and smell great. Stylists here are particularly good at color and with folks who have curly hair. Theyll give you a free consultation for each of your appointments to see if you plan to make any changes or want to stick with the usual. Plus, theyre LGBTQ friendly!

I got a beautiful asymmetrical bob here. The salon is really gorgeous, and the location is outstanding. I felt like the receptionists thought they were faaar too cool but they were helpful and did their job just fine. I love that they engage with the community through different art shows and events they host. They really seem to do a good job of continuing education with their stylists. My cut was lovely and pretty much exactly what I wanted. It garnered plenty of compliments and the shape stayed quite well even as it grew out.

No problems with the haircut or stylist, but the price I was quoted for a mens haircut was upcharged when I went to pay. Ridiculous. Edit: The businesss reply to this comment is incorrect. I was charged $30 before tip (which I still honored). I would upload a photo of my bank statement, but cant figure out how to. I was told $28, as stated, but was upcharged when I went to pay. $2 isnt a big deal--the whole thing wasnt a big deal--but Im very disappointed that a business would lie on a review board. 1 star.

Amazing salon! Emily is fantastic! I have curly/frizzy hair and she worked wonders. She uses the deva cut method ( cuts dry, and then washes/styles). She really knows what shes doing, and is an artist w hair. I heard her discussing color w a fellow stylist, and I would definately go to her when I decide to make that leap. She was so sweet and knowledgeable and just truly nice! I had a terrific experience, I feel young and sassy w my new haircut, and I will definately go back. Thank you so much Emily!

After many disappointing hair experiences in multiple salons in bloomington, I have finally found a place I trust enough to do my hair. I had an appointment with Chelsea earlier today (9/21/13) and I could not be happier. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and the salon is beautiful. Chelsea listened to everything I said and provided her own professional input. She didnt even mind when I changed my mind about bangs at the last second. Overall very highly recommend Royale Hair Parlor!

A nice local salon where they do excellent mens haircuts. Lindly is a great stylist, I highly recommend her. The only drawback of Royale is the front desk. They keep getting weirder and weirder about booking appointments. I recommend to a friend, they wanted a credit card to charge before they would book. Not sure but I think the issue is probably more in their back-end with reminders (they are sometimes wrong) than with customers. Anyway, great haircuts if you can get an appointment!

All my experiences with Royale have been professional and easy-going. Stylist Bridgett is always attentive and receptive to what I want/need. Im always pleased with my short hair dos and will never let anyone else cut it. The entire staff is friendly and welcoming. Besides being the best place in town for your hair needs, Royale supports local artist in our community. Highly recommended.
