I LOVE LOVE LOVE this salon! Everyone that works there is very nice and knows what they are doing! Ive been going there monthly for over a year now and have gotten haircuts by both Alison and Jeff and Im always happy with my results! Alison is also amazing with mixing color for my hair! For many years Ive tried to find the right hair dye to mix with my difficult hair and it wasnt until I met Alison that my hair looked really good and natural after getting it dyed! I completely disagree with the previous review about this salon and dont think that anyone should base their opinion upon one persons negative experience or opinion because you now have one more person who has had many, many good experiences at this same place and with this same stylist. Besides, Im sure the haircut looks great but just isnt what the woman wanted. Also, the post on someones Facebook wall is completely different than leaving a review on here or Google. If someone posted something on my companys Facebook wall it would be removed as well. Its not that they are hiding or censoring anything...A Facebook wall is not the place to post something like this unless its your own wall where you can control the content as you please. Needless to say, I will be back to Elan! :)

This salon is ridiculous. The morning of my wedding, my now wife was harassed by the owner of this salon. My wife had canceled appointments for the bridal party and no contract was signed, however the salon owner demanded half of the cost of the bridal party hair appointments. I feel terrible for the staff of this salon as Im sure they are all very talented, however they are managed by an extremely unprofessional woman. The owner not only called my wife and told her that she "doesnt care about her personal life", but she called all other salons in Bloomington in order to find her and try to "serve her a bill" on the morning of our wedding. I went in to the salon in order to discuss the problem and was treated terribly. The salon owner proceeded to tell me that she hoped the doctor cancels on my wife when we have our child. The owner of this salon is unprofessional, rude, and mean. Im writing this review so that I can help someone else in the future. Please do not visit this salon. They do not care about you or your future business, just money.

After a bad (and expensive) experience with the Aveda on College Ave (I asked to keep my shoulder length hair and she gave me a bob to my chin), I didnt visit a hairstylist for almost a year. I looked up reviews online before I finally settled on Elan, and Im glad I did. Ive been back about three times now, and I always have Tiffany. She does a great job on my hair, is nice and friendly, and always takes the time to style it before I leave. The atmosphere seems nice, and everyone seems pleasant to work with. I think their prices are VERY reasonable too, and theyre not jacked up like most places in Bloomington. My stylist always listens to what I have to say, and she doesnt talk at you like youre stupid either. She explains what shes doing and why shes doing it, will provide her input and opinion, but will do what you want her to do. I would highly recommend this place, and especially Tiffany, to anyone!

I went to Elan on the day of my wedding. While I was satisfied with the stylist who did my hair, the others were rude and unprofessional with my bridal party. My maid of honor was told that her hair was disgusting and the style she wanted looked like "a horses @$$". The stylist refused to do the style my MOH wanted and ended up doing something my MOH could have done on her own. Another stylist didnt know how to do a simple twist and ask my bridesmaid to google a how to for the particular hairstyle. She ended up asking another stylist to do it for her. None of my bridesmaids liked their hair, it all looked like a jr high schooler had curled it. The prices did not match the end result. I called and spoke to the owner, while she was nice and said she would speak to her stylists, I wouldnt want any bride to have this experience on a day that is stressful enough.

I had been here before and found that I got the haircut I asked for from Alison. Went back in today for a cut, with a photo of the hairstyle I wanted--to the collar bone. I came out with hair that ends approximately at my chin. Seriously, it doesnt even reach my shoulders. I dont even understand how its possible that my hair is at least three inches shorter than what I asked for. I want my hair back! Nothing but waiting for months will fix this. In the meantime, I cant do half of my preferred hairstyles because my hair is too short. Its unflattering and was totally unprofessional that it would end up so far from what I asked for, even with a photo! Maybe the other stylists here do better, but DO NOT see Alison! Ill never return. Update: After I posted a similar review on facebook, this place deleted it. Theyre censoring out negative feedback!

I regularly visit Alison. Shes by far the most professional stylist Ive ever been with. She does a fabulous consultation and regularly checks in with your opinion throughout the cut. She makes you feel incredibly comfortable sitting in the chair and will do anything to make your experience better. I consistently walk out with an amazing hair cut. I have even told her to just do what she wants with it. Its clear that she has an eye for style, taste, and what is currently trending. Overall, the salon atmosphere is comfortable, welcoming and extremely professional. Everyone says hello and greets you. The appointments are always timely and accommodating. Definitely a positive experience each time I go in and I always look forward to my next visit!

I have always been very picky about how I like my hair cut. I have been burned in the past by hasty stylists and inexperienced butchers (to put it nicely). So I was very hesitant to leave my old salon. I have searched all of Bloomington for a stylist with the skills and professionalism that we hair consumers deserve. I have found all those things and more at Elan. Tiffany immediately put me at ease with her charm and wit. We had a great conversation and she really made me feel like she loves what she does. For all the girls (and guys) who have curly/wavy hair, shes the one for you. She actually has naturally curly hair and knows how to handle it. Tiffany has definitely made me a repeat client and is an asset to the salon. :D

I came in with even long hair past my shoulders asking for long layers. I ended up looking like David Bowie from the labyrinth. I even had a picture of what I wanted and it was completely butchered. I will have to wear my hair in a ponytail for the next six months because I just dont feel comfortable with it down at all. That or spend a couple hundred dollars in extensions. And it was a $40 haircut! From the front, it looks like I have a bob cut, and then in the back are thin slivers of long hair that look like rat tails. It is the worst hair cut I have ever had in my life. Please save yourself the grief and find a salon that wont destroy your hair..
