We had two completely different experiences with Peterman in the last month or so. I edged my review on the positive side (4 stars instead of 3) because our experience on the heating/cooling side was so good. Our air conditioning went out, and we had a different company out for a potential repair, but ultimately decided to replace the a/c. The company that we had out for a possible repair gave me a cost of $5,500 just to replace the a/c only, and it would be a week before they could come install. I called Peterman and they sent a salesperson out that evening, around 6pm. Ultimately, it was about $7k to install a full new system (furnace and a/c), and they could be at our home at 8am the next morning. We pulled the trigger, and two very nice gentlemen showed up at 8am the next day and installed the system. We could not have been happier. This leads me to my completely different experience. We told them the same day that we wanted them to come back out and give us a quote on a plumbing project in our unfinished basement. We wanted to rough in for a bathroom (no plumbing currently roughed in down there). We had two quotes already for $2,500 and $3,200, and thought since they were so competitive on the heat/air, we would give them a shot. A gentleman came out and was very helpful, but ultimately texted us a quote for $8,500. This did include a recommended second pipe out of our sump pump, for back-up (additional scope to the above two quotes). I advised them of our other two quotes on the plumbing rough-in and that there was no way we would ever go for it at that cost. I got a text back the next day (July 2nd) saying that his manager wanted to come out to see the area for himself. I agreed, and now have just never heard anything back. Overall good company and Id have no problem recommending them for the heating/air. Id be very leery of recommending them for plumbing, just based on my experience. I have since gotten a quote from a fourth company for $2,150, including the back-up sump line.

Make Sure you check their work before they leave! *I am not one to post a bad review unless it is earned. I think that it is equally important to post positive comments if a company provides excellent customer service.* Peterman was contracted by the previous owner of my home to perform routine maintenance and replace the furnace filter. Many months later I realized that the filter installed was vastly undersized and allowed dust and other particles into my furnace, duct work, and home. I spoke with their Service Manager Derek today. Derek stated that due to the elapsed time since the service was provided, Peterman would not do anything to fix my problem. In addition, their paperwork showed that the correct filter was installed, therefore it must have been me that installed the filter that was way too small. I was also told that if I had noticed this within 60 days of the service they could have helped me. I guess I assumed that the correct filter had been installed and there was no need to check their work. I admit that I went far too long without replacing the filter (seriously, shame on me), but that still does not change the fact that the work was performed incorrectly. They may have won plenty of service awards, but those are for past service and do not guarantee good customer service today. SIDENOTE: The much smaller furnace filter that I supposedly installed is branded INDIGO. I have not been able to locate this brand at any of the large home improvement stores: Menards, Lowes, or Home Depot. My guess is that Peterman stocks Indigo furnace filters, specifically 16x20x1.

Our air conditioner went out and we called Petermans to come out and look at our unit. They did come out to our house quickly, however they did not have a solution to our problem. They gave us two options to try to find a solution-each solution was quite pricey and it wasnt guaranteed to find the solution. I had to call one of my friends dads to get an opinion and he had to tell me what to ask the guy to do. He recharged our unit and found a leak right away and then quoted us over $1500 to fix the leak. We called around to a couple other companies the next morning and was able to get everything fixed (the exact same things that Petermans told us was wrong and that they would need to replace) for less than $400 and is guaranteed for a year. One of the products that Petermans told us we needed to replace he said was not even in our unit---come to find out it WAS in our unit and didnt even need replaced. Be very cautious using this company as they will try to scam you and make you pay for things that do not need fixed-or pay for parts that they jack the prices up. I will never call this company again for any future repair. Thank goodness we found another company to fix this problem and save us $1200.

I called this morning at 9:22am about our air conditioning not blowing cold air. Jamie was super nice and helpful on the phone! Then at 10:24 I had a call that a tech was on their way and I got an immediate email with a short biography and a photo of Matt Church so that Id know who to expect! Im a mom who was home alone with my 2 year old daughter and I thought that was super thoughtful. Matt arrived very quickly and was very kind! He diagnosed our problem on our outside unit within ten minutes, just as my husband got home, and he showed us what happened and explained what we can do to keep it from happening again. He got us quotes quickly and fixed us up right on the spot! Lack of maintenance was our biggest problem and he hooked us up with a plan for a SUPER reasonable price. In 90 minutes he diagnosed, quoted, fixed, cleaned, plus checked out our furnace, got us all wrapped up and headed out! Matt was fantastic and gave us helpful tips for cooling our house more evenly. I will most definitely be recommending Peterman, and even Matt, to anyone who needs help. What a great experience on a HOT 4th of July stretch! Thank you, Matt!!!

(e-mail sent Tuesday, March 1, 2017 to Chad Peterman immediately following our plumbing inspection as a Peterman Preferred Plan customer) Chad: Wanted to send a note and tell you what a positive experience we had with this morning with your apprentice service tech - Ed Boyd. He represented your business well and reinforced our brand loyalty to your company. Ed may only have worked 7-8 months with Peterman but he carried himself proudly as "a company man" and spoke very favorably about the culture of your company and how much he enjoyed working in such a professional atmosphere. Timely, polite, patient, professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. He looked over my house like it was his own. He highlighted a couple minor areas needing attention and offered options for us to consider. We gladly agreed to the prudent preventive maintenance he suggested. Ed seems like a keeper and an up and comer to be watched and groomed for greater responsibility. We trust you and your company and recommend you to people when the opportunity arises. Thanks Chad.
