I have a 1999 Infiniti I30 with 155,000 miles. I took it for an oil change at Meineke Car Care Center in Muncie, Indiana on May 13, 2011. Other than my car needing an oil change, my car ran smoothly. Meineke informed me about a damaged motor mount on my vehicle which is causing my car to idle roughly. They even asked me to put my hand on my engine to see if I could feel the rough idling and I said "no". After the oil change it was a short 3-minute drive back to my gfs home. I did not drive the car any further that day. On May 14, 2011 my car was intermittently jerking while on neutral and the jerking intensified while in gear. I called Meineke and they insisted that the issue was because of the motor mount and that the jerking would resolve if I had it fixed. At this point, I did not trust Meineke Muncies business ethics. Upset about the sudden change in performance of my vehicle, I went to a trusted mechanic, Mike, in Indianapolis on May 14, 2011. Mike told me prior to repair that he did not think the jerking was a motor mount issue. Sure enough, after he replaced my damaged motor mount the jerking was still there. I called Meineke again (May 14, 2011, 3pm) telling them I had replaced the motor mount but the jerking issue was still present - a problem that I did not have before I entered their shop. I was politely persistent about Meinekes fault that my car was performing poorly. The manager Larry told me I was a "horses rear," "Meineke has nothing to do with how your car is running. We just changed your oil," and that "it was $70-90 for a diagnostic review." He threatened to cut the conversation short after I insisted that they needed to resolve the issue. Google reviews for Meineke Muncie showed 70% of previous customers had complaints about their poor ethics and service. If this is common practice for Meineke Muncie to increase business revenue, something MUST be done immediately.

Im fairly new to Muncie and was concerned about finding a trusted auto service facility. I have a 12 y.o. van that while old, is still in great shape. I want to continue the maintenance thats kept it running (and stopping) down the road but I certainly dont want to put unnecessary dollars into repairs I dont need. I booked an appt online with Muncie Meineke because of online reviews. The old girl was noisy and needed an oil change. They got me right in and showed me the mufflers condition, gave me options of additional work I might want but didnt need & werent at all pushy or upset when I said I only wanted the muffler & oil change. The work was done quickly and so far seems to be perfect. It was also about what I was expecting, moneywise. I will continue to use Muncie Meineke for my vans needs but not just because of my personal experience. While I was waiting, I saw the interactions with other clients and was impressed with the way they(we) were treated. There was no talking down, no bullying, no nonsense. All I saw was friendly respect for their clientele. Oh, and the coffee they provided was pretty good, too! Jeanne Dennis UPDATE: After having my muffler replaced, it was quiet as a church mouse from idle speed to about 23 mph, then it was very noisy. I stopped by 2 days after initial service and Larry took it on a test drive with me riding shotgun. He diagnosed what I suspected; bad wheel bearing that was hiding behind the rumble of the rotten muffler. Within an hour I was out the door with a van that is as quiet and calm as a new one. My rating of 5 stars still stands with many thanks to Larry and his crew!

Muncie Meineke is full of scam artists. I first took my car in a year ago for a basic inspection; I didnt notice any problems, but I had just bought the car and wanted to have it looked it. Meineke found my rear shock to be broken and quoted me at $300+ for repairs. I declined and took it to a local mom & pop repair shop - repair was $98 total. Today, I brought my car in for a break inspection and of course they found all my pads and rotors need replaced & my sway bar was broken - for a total of $800. The man at the front desk said they price match anyone "apples to apples," but essentially called me a liar when I told him I got my shocks done for $100, claiming Meineke has access to the lowest part prices anywhere and I must have installed them myself using cheap shocks. I opted only to have the sway bar repaired because it was urgent. Upon returning home with access to internet, I looked up the parts Meineke used/would have used to see how the price of their "apples" compares to Amazons "apples." Meinekes part total was $499 (and that includes two sets of "1/2 price pads - savings of $93). Amazons price for the same EXACT new parts was $293. Amazon is still making profits from these parts; therefor, actual cost is even less. Meineke mark-ups are outrageous by any standards. Meineke wanted to charge me $30 for an oil/filter change using my own oil and filter with the car already in the shop being serviced...unbelievable. AVOID MEINEKE AT ALL COST: your car will go from bad to worse, as will your bank account.

RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL SCAM ARTIST My wife had a coupon for a 19.99 oil change that ended up costing 110.94 for oil change and drain plug. I went in there to find out why it cost so much when she had a coupon for 19.99. Larry asked if he could help me and I stated no I need to talk to Glen he is the one that delt with my wife earlier in the day. I asked Glen why my wife had a coupon for 19.99 oil change and then up charged her to 110. Larry told me Im not gonna come into his store with attitude and I could leave. I said Im talking to Glen not you and he said Im the owner here and you can just leave. I was being cool not raising my voice or nothing. I told Larry that I dont know why he is trying to intimidate me and Glen told me I need to leave. They still hadnt told me why my wife was charged so much. Larry was cussing at me, I told him my family would never come here again and he said your dad will because he comes here all time and he knows how much of a tool you are. He was really trying to push my buttons and cussing at me more in the parking lot. They finally ended up showing me the invoice but still Larry was being very rude and disrespectful. I ended up contacting corporate customer service for the way I was treated.

I would like to share one of my many wonderful experiences at Meineke. I was having an issue with my seat belt fastening. I called Larry to schedule an appointment to take a look at. He scheduled me to bring my vehicle in the next day early morning. Upon my arrival the next day, they get me in immediately takes my vehicle into the bay, checks it out, fixed the seat belt without having to replace it with a new or used one. Also, they took it upon themselves to look into the source of my airbag light coming on and staying on. They fixed that also for me. The beauty of it all is that he told me since Im a regular loyal customer......the jobs that did for me was completely FREE! Would like to also add that whatever issue I have with my vehicle I rather take it to Meineke rather than the manufacturing dealership!!! I highly recommend anyone to give them a try and see for yourselves what a great professional team Larry employs there!
