I went to Sparks to have my car inspected to find out what was wrong with it and how much it would cost for them to fix it. They called me to tell me that; two coils needed replacement, the wiring needed repaired, spark plugs needed replaced, and the oil needed changed because gas was being mixed with it. The total cost being $560. I thought this price was a little high, and did not have the funds to pay for their repairs right anyways. Upon return they attempted to charge me $87 for looking at the car which they had never informed me about when I dropped the car off. Since I had not entered into such an agreement, I refused to pay. (I have been to many places that have checked my car out for free with the hopes that I would use their services: Ron Jones, Tom Cherry, and others...) He continued to inform me that he legally could have done all of the repairs without my approval and charge me the full amount. This is a lie and complete a lack of ethics from their business. They attempted to prevent me from leaving by keeping my keys, but I managed to get into my car where the keys were, and lock myself in. They called the police saying I was stealing my own car, then I left. The police talked to me later and stated any further action would be disputed in a court if Sparks desired and that I would not be arrested like Sparks representatives said I would be. I study business law and knew I was well within my rights to leave, and I know I did not enter into any agreements to pay them for anything. After I left, I discovered more deceit on Sparks behalf. My car was fixed simply by replacing a fuel injector, and the total cost of repairs was only $200 by Ron Jones on Madison. (He did a diagnostic for free in a matter of 5 minutes.) Do not use their services, they obviously lied to me about several things and lack any form of ethical business practices.

Two years ago my boyfriends car ( a 96 Manual Cavalier) finally gave out. The Clutch ended up being the problem and he and his dad decided the car was worth salvaging and got a brand new one put in at this business. The repairs were very costly (thousands) which is to be expected with this type of job. Fast forward to less than a week ago when we took his 2005 Saturn Ion in for a simple oil change. They told him to bring it in early in the morning and they would get to it at some point in the day. The man behind the counter remarked about how my boyfriend and his father had had to split the expensive bill in the past and that he remembered my boyfriend. We dropped the car off and left. Not twenty minutes later they called claiming the car was short 3 quarts of oil and was leaking transmission fluid and oil everywhere over the parking lot and shop itself. The man then quoted $400 in apparent new parts needed for the car to repair said leak. My boyfriend feared he was getting hosed so we went to inspect and told them to do no further repairs. They ended up completing the oil change entirely for free and forcing him to sign a paper stating that they warned him about the supposed leak before we left. It has been almost an entire week and we have checked the engine and oil levels every day and it is completely fine. Looking back at his past bill we noted several other high dollar parts that were out into the repair cost. We fear he got hosed there as well. The shop itself is very good communication wise and will get back to you ASAP with everything, but saying "Have a blessed day!" at the end of every conversation and claiming to be a Christian organization does not give you permission to screw people over! I advise everyone to be very careful with this particular shop unless you like spending money on repairs and new parts you dont need.

I have waited 2.5 years after my repairs to test the longevity and give an honest review. On the day of my repairs I was in a rush. I had no appointment and came to Sparks in desperation as no other shop in town could help with my car. The issue was on my 1970 Galaxie, the wiring for the alternator & regulator was bad. Every other shop kept replacing alternators, voltage regulators, etc etc. It was not fixing it and still not charging the battery. I needed to drive 4+hrs to college that weekend and I was panicking as this was my only vehicle. Sparks got me in within an hour, without appt. They had an old-timer who knew EXACTLY what was wrong with my car in about 15min of testing. He even brought me out to the car and showed me (I noticed he was very careful around my car. Seemed to actually care about it. For example, laid a towel on my fender so he wasnt putting tools on 50yr old paint.) He had a shop manual from the era that even showed how to rebuild the wiring. He explained it all to me and was very nice, helpful. No rush. Then came paying for the job. They initially wanted a crazy amount... I was about to walk away, being a broke college student and all, but then he took me aside and we worked out a deal. I paid a reasonable price in the end and felt good about the work done. Now 2.5 years later my car has had no issues regarding the work they did for me. I will never forget the hospitality. If I ever have an issue similar to that again, I will bring my car back to Sparks even though I no longer live in Muncie, and can probably do the work myself nowadays. It was THAT good of service.

*GO HERE IF YOU LIKE BEING RIPPED OFF* My Grandma took her 2013 Chevy Cruze in for the radio intermittent shut off and service stabilitrak light that alot of other Cruze owners are also having trouble with. Instead of just doing what GMs tech alert said to do, either clean all the grounds and apply dielectric grease, or replace negative battery cable. They lied and told us a rodent had chewed on the harness, and it would cost over $1150.00 to fix, also according to my mechanic he never even removed the power distribution module for the "90 dollar diagnostic" testing. It was clear that it had been undisturbed because the dust that had collected on it had not been agitated recently. My mechanic did what the tech alert said to do, changed the oil (per request) and replaced the fob battery as it was needed and charged us $113 dollars. What really gets me is when we picked it up to "get another opinion" and "see if we could get the work done cheaper" the guy here acted chummy, asked if a 100 dollar discount would make it cheap enough for him to do the work. And then he dropped the diagnostic fee. If you can afford to just toss around $100 discounts your already overcharging......

I want to let everyone on the interwebs know that Sparks, while expensive, did a great job at providing the right car care. I had to have all 4 struts replaced as well as strut mounts. They got the car in as soon as possible, ordered the correct parts and 2 days later I had my car back. Problem was, weeks later I was unhappy with the initial results. The car pulled left, the steering wheel was shaky and it just felt as if it was worse than when I brought it in. To their credit, when I called them to let them know about my concerns, they said to bring it in and that they would look it over. They took it for another day, did another alignment on it, balanced 2 tires, did something with my rotors, and also adjusted the left strut/wheel/ball joint in order to get the car to even out as best as possible. At no extra cost to me. Granted I had already paid a large sum for the work before this - but it was nice to have someone back their work as much as Sparks did. I appreciate that they got me in as soon as I needed to get in, and took care of my car as best as they could. Good customer service counts a lot in my book and they definitely displayed it.
