This place is terrible. I took my car in on March 6th to have the oil pressure sensor replaced. I had never used Automotive West before but had heard they were an alright place. They fixed my car up and I left. 10 minutes later they called me and said they forgot to put my undercarriage back on. So I had to return. I arrived and they quickly took my car to the back to put it on. It was odd because it took them like 15 minutes to just screw it back on. Eventually the old man that works in the front office came up to me and said "Dont hurt me, but I scratched your car." He took me to the back and showed me the damage. I was not mad, I just wanted him to make it right. He told me to go to Brooks Auto Body on Cornbread Rd. I stopped in there, however I had prior experience with Jones Body in Muncie so I decided I wanted to get a quote from them instead. So I did exactly that. They quoted me $593 to fix the damage because apparently you cant fix damage on a charger to the rear bumper cover unless you remove it from the vehicle. I took the estimate directly from Jones to Automotive West where their response to me took a turn for the worst. refuses to let me take it to my choice of body shop. He told me if I dont take it to where he tells me to take it to that he will not pay for the damage he did. The old man became very rude with me while I politely told him I wanted to take it to Jones Body and that I did not want to have it done at Brooks. He said "Brooks does me favors, and I do him favors. So it works out for the both of us." However, as far as I am concerned, it is legally my decision as to where I will have MY car repaired for the damage that HE did. He ended up walking away from me while I was talking and calling me "son" in a sentence he used as he did so. I am beyond frustrated and am gunning for them full fledged. Nobody damages my car and refuses to pay for it. I take too good of care of it for me to let that happen. My insurance has been notified and now there is an ongoing investigation for my claim. It is unfortunate that it had to come to this. BEWARE UPDATE: Rick, the owner, has since called me and informed me that on the day this interaction happened he was having a bad day and that he is willing to pay to let me take the car to the shop of my choice. However, he was very rude with me following these statements concerning my negative online reviews about my experience with him. Regardless, my insurance is already involved so I will have to see where to go from here.

I recently attempted to start my car and found it unresponsive... After a talk with the guys over at Advanced Auto on Tillotson Ave here in Muncie, I was off to Automotive West for a quote. Automotive Wests parts and labor prices turned out to be as good as Id heard and they had my vehicle diagnosed and fixed in less than 2 hours after the tow truck arrived. Their mechanics are obviously honest, hardworking people because they could have replaced my starter as Id authorized them to do, but they found a corroded electrical cable that had melted and caused the problem and replaced the cable. I will be taking all my vehicles there from now on. Wonderful experience overall and very friendly office staff to boot. Just tell them Steve sent ya! ~Steve Lovell

My advice would be to not go to this place. A friend of mine took his car here and they ended up scratching his vehicle and are refusing to pay for it unless he goes where they want him to. The law does not work that way. You cause the damage then you are responsible for rectifying the situation. The guy then got very disrespectful when discussing another place. The owner has the responsibility of being respectful to its customers especially to a customers property you damaged and also acting with integrity. To many mechanics out there taking advantage of customers and situations. The owner needs to make this right. Be careful where you go and definitely be careful with this place. I recommend not going here.

They were so unbelievably kind to me. They found the problem quickly, and went above and beyond what they had to. They were understanding when I told them I couldnt afford the parts at first, and offered to give me a temporary fix so Id at least have a vehicle. Not only that, but when I found the parts cheaper, they let me just bring them in myself and only charged me for labor. Their labor is cheaper than Ive seen anywhere else. They saved me over $100, and I couldnt be more thankful. They even gave me a free ride home so I didnt have to sit around and wait for someone to come get me. They are an honest company, and thats refreshing for the automotive business. I would definitely come here again.

Automotive West on Kilgore Rd is a mom-n-pop business. It looks crappy on the outside, and let me assure you, they are just as worthless on the inside. I had a transmission be rebuilt through them and less than a month later, it failed on me. I got it fixed the second time and 8 months later it failed on me again. Both times they died on me, I was far from The worst part about it was Rick the owner did not care about it or where I was left stranded. I was even stuck with the expensive tow bill to have it sent back to be "fixed" again. These people are hardly good mechanics, and even worse people, especially the owner, Rick. Do what you want, I for one will never go back to them for anything.
