Took my car into them and was told I needed $770 worth of repairs (basically a brake job overhaul with new brake drums, rotors, pads, etc). Had a certified mechanic friend look at it and the only thing needed replaced was the rotors. Seen it with my own 2 eyes that the front brake pads were the same thickness as the new ones. And there was NO way they even took the parts off to inspect it because when my friend took the parts off you could tell nothing had been disturbed in quite a while with the way the parts were stuck on there. They even tried to make me a "managers deal" with taking $70 off to try to eliminate some of the cost and lure me in. We will not be coming back EVER again. Im highly dissatisfied with the dishonesty. I feel as though I have been deceived while I was in a vulnerable, frantic situation not being able to have a safe car. This was at the Plainfield location. Im very thankful for my mechanic friend who helped me out in this situation.

After taking my sons 1996 Grand Am to the shop my wife recieves a qoute of $650.00 for a front pipe and hangers. I called to find out what was going to get for this price. I began to ask the mechanic when he was very short and explained nothing and then hung up on me. I later after talking to another shop found out that the price was so high because this cars front pipe contained a very expensive catalytic converter. That would have been nice to know the would have gotten my business. However after talking to a different shop I found out they make a universal fitting that could be attached above the catalytic convert thus not requiring a new one. I spent less than $200.00 and that was with the hangers and labor. So I guess I should say thanks for being a jerk.

I had a weird rubbing noise coming from my rear tires. I thought this was the typical "worn brakes" sound which indicates I simply need new brakes. When I took my car in I was told and shown how this was simply a flimsy splash guard that helps prevent the disc brake areas from getting directly hit with water and cut down on any rust. End result...no charge. I have had garages completely lie and take advantage of me...and these gentlemen simply told the truth and didnt charge me for the 40 minutes they took to remove the tires and look in there. Theres no other place Im visiting for now on in regard to normal maintenance.

Went there for an alignment for my Ford Expedition. Car X was the lowest price in town. The alignment was correct and quickly completed. I have had other services done at this Car X and have returned time and time again. Some prices are high here as always... buyer beware shop around and be an educated consumer with that said Car X will stand behind their work. I also appreciate that Car X is the only place in town that collects used antifreeze and oil for free! They are a win - win I do many repairs to my vehicles on my own but when I need help my Car goes to Car X.

Joe and his team have been taking care of my car and I for at least a year now. I have never had to wait longer than I was told, and have often been able to get in right away. I have had a couple more significant issues with my car and I always felt very confident that they were taking good care of my care, and mostly not over charging me or adding on services that I didnt need. The mechanics are really nice and always take the time to explain what is going on. Its a quality, honest business and I would never take my car anywhere else!

Ive visited the Plainfield, Car-X service center a few times in the recent years when visiting my wifes parents, bringing their cars in for service on almost every visit. I never write reviews but I feel compelled to do so after todays visit. Im extremely impressed with the professionalism, accurate knowledge and friendly service Ive received from Car-X. I live in California and only visit your service center when Im in Indiana, but I wish I could find a similar service center for my car in California. Keep up the excellent service!

When our 79 VW Combi broke on highway 70 Josh from AAA brought us to Car X. Robert, the mechanic, found the trouble right away and made sure it would not bother anymore on our 2000 miles trip through the US. They even picked us at our hotel! Car X had the best service we have ever experience – they didn’t over charged us and they offered professional and honest service. If I’m ever back in Plainfield, Car X will take care of my vehicle

I get my oil changed there every time... now that my dad moved away lol and they are great. i have never had any problems with them and the manager is great. they always go out of their way to help you and make you feel welcome. its a great enviroment when u walk in..... my friend also comes in has a POS car and they do their best to help her, knowing she doesnt have a lot of money. to me thats great customer service

I walked in (without an appointment) and was greeted immediately by one of the men inside Car-x. He offered to come out to my car to see what was wrong, even though they were booked all day. I waited for an hour or so there to get my car fixed and didnt mind at all because the customer service was so great. Ive been telling everyone how impressed I am.

Great people, great price! They do honest work here and ensure your vehicle is safe to be back on the road without giving you the runaround like every other shop I have been to. They repaired crappy work I had done at another shop and my car has been running better than ever! This is the only shop I will visit from now on.

if can give them less than 1 star I would cause they are the worst shop out there.. dont bother and take your car some were else. they charge you different prices for the same exact service for the same car.. they dont get the work done correct and almost every time you have to go back to fix what they missed

Fit me in early and fixed my A/C before a road trip. Despite customers in front of me, they moved us through quickly and were done with my car in about 30 minutes. Reasonable price too, less than anywhere else that I called. Road trip was more bearable for my friend with health issues.

Taking my car here was a dream. I left for work yesterday morning and my brakes were doing some horrid things. I got a same day appointment, and they got my car looked at, diagnosed, and fixed within an hour and a half. The price was affordable and the people were friendly.

I have never been so pleasantly surprised by an oil change experience. The staff was extremely friendly and had my oil change finished in less than 20 minutes. They did not try to sell my extra services that I did not need. Highly recommended!

Best customer service. Ive used this shop for 15+ years because they are honest and do great work. Prices for oil changes, tires, brakes...etc. are comparable to other places - not often lower than anyone, but certainly better!
