I happened to look up this business today because I need a repair done and happened to see the owners responses to other reviews. The owner is wrong. This place has been terrible in the past to many customers. I would not write this review if I hadnt seen these nonsense response postings from the owner/manager/whomever. If things have improved, great, but dont pretend bad things havent happened in the past. For example, I bought a power chord at Advanced Computers this morning and it works great. If I were writing a review just on that, I would offer an excellent rating. Part of being a business (or person), though, is owning up to past mistakes and resolving them rather than pretending they never existed or that someone else is always to blame. Two years ago, I had a laptop that needed repairs because the keyboard and cd/dvd drive stopped working. The repairs took almost 1 month. They had a part time repair person (which they disclosed, so I knew it would take a bit longer) and initially only ordered the replacement keyboard. I required several phone calls and a little over two weeks before getting a simple answer about the status of my computer. During the phone calls before receiving the answer, I was simply told that my computer is sitting in the back and that the repair person had looked at it... nothing else. At that time (a little over 2 weeks later), they replaced my keyboard and claimed to be waiting for the replacement cd/dvd drive. It turned out that they simply had not ordered the part... it was not the fault of the postal service or distributer (who they initially blamed), it was Advanced Computers. The clerk admitted their mistake over the phone after I told them I wanted my computer back so I could take it to a repair store in Sioux Falls (Im avoiding using brand or other store names, so bite me if youre going to claim Im advertising for a competitor). The only reason I didnt drive down to get my computer right then and there was because my car had also broken down and needed repairs. Anyway, they ordered the part and the total repair time was close to 1 month. By the way... the cd/dvd drive replacement also didnt work. A few months later, I took it to a competent repair store in Mankato (where Im from) and they told me that the underlying cause for the previous damage was a heat issue. Im not computer savvy, but they showed me some wiring, etc. that was indicative of heat damage. I dont care for incompetent service. Oh... icing on the cake... I left my power chord with them when I dropped off my computer. When I picked up my computer, they claimed I did not leave a chord. Their reason for the claim was that their infallible clerk did not check a box on some magical slip which would have informed the store that I had left a chord. They never showed me this magical slip, so I had to take their word for it. Again, I would not have written this review if I had not seen the nonsense responses to other reviews. I dont care what your company policies are... Policies could be great and still be poorly executed. Dont blame your companys problems on competitors. I would probably give your company another chance at repairs if you have, in fact, cleaned house. But, I was extremely dissatisfied last time.

Bought two used phones from Advanced Computers on Gordon Drive on Feb 10. As soon as my husband walked out the door, he noticed one of the phones was an android phone. He went back in and told the guy we did not want an android phone. The guy tried telling my husband that Verizon would activate the phone without data (every moron knows this is not possible). Cost of that phone was $99 plus tax. The guy apologized and processed a return, but NOT for the whole amount, but for $73.26. So, they screwed us from the very beginning. I guess that is what I get for having my husband in charge of the process. Anyway, I digress.
The second phone never did work right. We finally got tired of screwing around with it and I had my husband take it back to exchange for something that worked. They refused to take it back, blamed us for damaging the phone, and got in my husbands face telling him we would be in possession of stolen property after my husband said he was going to dispute our credit card charge. Then, after he told the guy we were going to dispute the charge, the guy tried to take the phone and not give us a refund or exchange at all and just make my husband leave the store out the money and no phone. Guess what, we disputed the charge anyway. I wasn't born yesterday and I know my rights.
They are a computer repair place and yet they do not even have their own website or facebook profile! Anyway, stay away from this place, they are a bunch of crooks.

First, if you value your information and privacy, DO NOT GO NEAR THESE LYING THIEVING FRAUDS. After claiming for months that my computer needed this and that and that they needed more time to work on it and could I call back ... blah blah lies. I go in today to retrieve it. The second I step in the door, they physically intimidated me. They claim I "abandoned" it and that they have "disposed" of it. They wont tell me what theyve done with it despite using my AppleCare number to update it and logging into my bank account from that IP. Apple takes that kind of fraud seriously and is now investigating the owner Brian and Rob. Mine was not the first complaint to Apple about these thieves!! I lost five years of photos and files. Do not fall victim to their complete bullshit. They write their own reviews, claim doctors & lawyers trust them (though both lawyers I talked to said no one does and that these guys are known for shady behavior) and feel they have the right to screw you around because, hey, what are you going to do? If there is something wrong with ANY of your technology, GO ELSEWHERE!!! These lying thieving frauds will just screw you over and laugh while they overcharge you for an uncertified person to go combing through your personal files.

This is my first review, because I actually have something to say. I brought my phone in with the part that I believed needed replacing and was told it was not possible. I understand this. I must have ordered the wrong part or misunderstood what was wrong. That was my bad. What I am truly complaining about is the people there. The woman there had managed to begin a voice memo to my father and managed to record a 14 minute audio clip. Not only did they complain about the phone (it is a hard to find model / make, which is why I ordered the part first. Try to help them out), they called me a "retard." When I called inquiring about my phones status, I was told it needed numerous new parts. I would be better off just buying a new phone. Im sorry for the misunderstanding I caused with the wrong part, but I think this could have been handled in a better way. I just wanted to forwarn future customers: you may not be taken seriously.
