Going to Bella Salon was the WORST decision I could have made. I was dire need of a haircut, having just moved back to the area I dont have a "regular person" yet. My stylist, Nikki, seemed nice enough, she was polite asked what I wanted. At some point between sitting down at her station and telling her what I wanted, and the shampoo station she must have forgotten what I told her. The cut I desired was simple, all she had to do was trim my hair. I wanted it to look exactly the same, simple, RIGHT? Apparently not. Not only did she cut off much more than I asked her to, she cut my hair straight across rather than in the "V" shape I previously had. Worst of all she DESTROYED my bangs. Anyone who has bangs knows, they are a very sensitive subject. Too short, too long, too much can all ruin a hair cut. All she had to do was trim my existing bangs. Instead she decided to make my bangs fuller, which looks horrible with my face shape, and way too short. Basically I look like a cabbage patch kid. In the end, I could have done a better job handing a five year old child a pair of scissors and telling her to do whatever she wants. Oh, and then having to shell out $47 for it. I will NEVER go to Bella Salon again, and would strongly discourage anyone else from doing so.

Literally the worst place to get your hair done the prices are out standing, I already had ombré going in all I needed was a touch up on the blonde and make it bright I said to just go ahead and bleach it and just make sure it blends in the my hair, I clearly anticipated paying 85+ for all over color and maybe $20 for the toner for my blonde if needed so max of $100, I left and went to check out and my total was $150 she said she used two bowls of color which is true and then used a special color formula for ombré ( which I did not ask for nor was I told it costed extra) and then charged me for a special technic for applying the color they called it free hand highlights charged me $20 for it then I had ONE chunk of hair that just didnt blend with the rest so took her 2 sec to blend just took a blade down my bang line and done charged me $15 to do that I could have had my toddler do that for less. I wouldnt be as pissed if they would tell you what their doing up front and if it would cost more. ESP when I asked for bleach not special formula and I didnt know they would charge you for how they use the rush this place is crazy. Staff was nice but thats bad business and over priced youre robbing your customers.

A few weeks ago, I went to Bella Salon with my bridesmaids to get our hair and makeup done for my wedding. Ive been in several weddings, and this was the first time we went to a salon where all the girls (there were 7 of us total) were finished pretty much on time and everyone was happy with their hair and makeup--no re-dos necessary! I have to give a special shout out to Emily who did my hair and makeup. She was just awesome. I liked what she did during our practice hair, but she improved the style the day of the wedding and I loved it even more! Im not someone who wears very much makeup, so when I told her what I wanted, she listened and applied my makeup better than I had envisioned for myself. Thank you, Emily, and thank you, Bella Salon!

I was giving pink highlights. Went in to have it fixed they bleached all my hair and turned it blond (i was a red head, and never wanted to go blond). Told them it was not what i wanted. There response was to accuse me that i was changing my mind and there was noting they could do. Thwy would have to charge me to so anything else and it was the owner that was horrendous to me. I left crying and discovered my hair had been so badly damaged i had to cut several inches and pay another salon to do multiple protein conditioning treatments and wait a couple week to color correct it because color wouldnt even stick to the strands at that point. Avoid!

I lived in West Des Moines, Iowa from February 2013 to November 2013 and I used to get brazilian done from Kari in the Valley West mall. It was my first brazilian experience in US and she made me feel really comfortable. She is very quick and I felt very little pain. She is definitely an expert. A big thumbs up to Kari!! I also got a haircut, dont remember the stylists name, but it was not that great. And also got a facial in the Johnston or Des Moines location but wasnt very happy about it. The staff is friendly, the ambience is great and they have good customer service in both the locations.

I LOVE this salon! Well I mainly love Chezney, who brought me to this salon. I used to live in Des Moines and have kinda of followed Chenzey from a different salon to this one. She is seriously the best hairstylist. She listens to what you want, has awesome ideas, and is very up to date on everything new and old. I never leave unsatisfied, and the prices are very reasonable. I drive all the way from Omaha for every appointment because I dont trust anyone else with my hair. If you need someone who knows what theyre doing and can actually carry on a good conversation, go to Chezney and Bella Salon!

Horrible experience! not even deserve 1 star! Summary: Appointment for 4 x $35 style, 1 x $55 updo, 1 x $35 make up. Number of people show up = 1 I end up paying $230 for ONE updo, and ONE make up I posted my story a few months ago, but for some reason it does not show up here. I will bring this up to the Better Business Bureau, please read my story there. I would not recommend Bella Salon! They are unethical! They WILL charge you even though you clearly said you are not responsible for their employees mistake and you are not authorize the incorrect pricing!

I got a great hair cut and eyebrow wax from Cory. He was very attentive to my requests, and took the time to style my very long and sometimes unruly hair. Now, I know all stylists sell product, but I really appreciated the time Cory took to explain the products to me. The best part was, I told him I wasnt sure if I was going to finish shopping because my face was really read from my eyebrow wax and he didnt hesitate to offer a make-up touch up. He did a great job all around and I would definitely recommend his services :)

You know that one person you know and trust to cut your hair? That is Victoria for me. When I get my hair done, its like coming to visit an old friend. She has fixed my hair after a had a bad haircut and offered great advice. She is awesome! I have come several years before now and each time with each different employee, I have received excellent haircuts. Thank you so much ladies at Bella Salon by Valley West mall( just south of the Younkers end of the mall) in West Des Moines!
