The supervisor of the Lawrence USPS office, Melissa, is without conscience, tact or humanity and should not hold her current position. My sister is a stroke survivor left physically disabled. Walking is very laborious, and can dangerous for her if her balance is off. A postal worker recommended that she have a box installed on the side of her house as opposed to using the community lock box provided for her neighborhood due to her disability. This box was installed several weeks ago. My sister was just accosted by Post Master Melissa and told, "If you can walk, you can walk to get your mail." My sister also suffers aphasia as a result of her stroke and cant communicate easily. She was humiliated and unable to discuss any further with Melissa. When I called the post office to speak with a supervisor I was told by whomever answered the phone that they could assist me. I relayed the happenings only to be told by the person that Melissa was in fact her supervisor, THE supervisor for Lawrences branch of USPS. Melissa should at the very least apologize and take a sensitivity training course, though I think she should be fired from any management position. If I have to pay triple to ship from UPS or FedEx in the future I will. Im disgusted with the actions and insensitivity of Melissa and the Lawrence branch of USPS. Abhorrent and unforgivable.

Sorry this is so far after the actual date but still want to tell you: On Monday, November 28, 2016 I watched a Post Office employee be so kind and patient that it just made me proud to live in our city and happy to witness this occasion. This was not the person who waited on me but the person to her right. There was a HUGE, long line and only 2 windows available. A gentleman who did not speak English was trying to mail a package and it was really being difficult for the customer AND the Postal person. That young man was consistently patient and kind. The customer got his phone out and managed to get a friend/relative to come and interpret. It was amazing to watch. It was also unbelieveable that all the waiting people werent complaining either! It was really almost a magical moment, especially considering the present climate in our country. I have been witness to situations where people who were not English-speakers were treated terribly. Be so proud of your employees at our Lawrence Downtown Post Office. Im glad we get to have them here!! Happy Holidays!

BAD SERVICE FROM LINDA, AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS. SHE HAS SUCH A BAD ATTITUDE, KNOW-IT-ALL-VIBE. I give her my box and she is already telling me its wrong because it doesnt have an address, without even looking at the paperwork, which makes me look like an idiot. After she opens it up(fully completed priority mail express form), she says "oh, i thought it was just a customs form". Then it asks if theres a spillable battery, i say no, then she says but its still a battery. Then just proceeds to ask the dumbest questions and gives snarky remarks. Then when i swipe my card and say credit please, she doesnt even take the card to look at it, she just asks what the last four numbers are. So i tell her and she says its declined, super loud. She doesnt even give me the option to swipe it again or check the card herself. And so i just paid with cash, and just felt so mad over this whole experience. Please get a different worker, because I dont want to have to drive across town to the other one to avoid this horrible individual.

When I have personally visited this Post Office, Ive been treated kindly and have experienced good customer service. On the contrary, two packages of mine have been lost that have never been recovered due to this Post Office. One item was sentimental gift that was never found after being scanned to the Vermont location and never delivered to me. Another package of mine was recently marked as delivered but I never received it. I called the Post Office a total of five times, in which I asked to be called back if they found it or if they didnt each time I called- which they never did. It is still being looked for. Very disappointing.

Maybe its because its a government operation, but my wife recently ordered an item, and for whatever reason our apartment was incorrect. It was only missing the building number. Instead of either going to the office, which was open at time of "delivery," or contacting us or the place it was sent from, they just marked it return to sender. That is complete bad customer service. I work for a package delivery company, and if that had happened on my route, I would have went to the office, and the problem would have been solved. Now we have to go through a hassle of finding out where our package is and how to re-deliver it. Thanks!

I ordered a package that was marked as "delivered" to this location, after figuring out that my package was not only not delivered, but actually lost, I called this location a total of 4 times without a single response. When I finally got ahold of an employee, he offered absolutely no help whatsoever. Once again, the tax payers hard earned cash is filling the pockets of lowlife burnouts whose life goal appears to be making human life as unbearable as possible. These mouthbreathers have too much job security and too little motivation. I AM PISSED.

The office itself is ok. Our carrier is TERRIBLE. Ive lived in 6 different areas in my adult life (4 counties) and he is the worst Ive had when it comes to mail delivery. Ive now complained twice (once online and once on the phone when I had to request a new lock on a parcel locker that was obviously broken--and he still put a package in instead of submitting the maintenance request himself).

The kiosk is ALWAYS out of order. This is literally the only thing I use mainly because I can never make it during normal hours and it is never, NEVER working. I live close by so in order for me to ship my orders I have to go clear across town to the 31st kiosk. Really frustrating. The employees are nice when I do make it in time to go in the office. Only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1.

They keep sending mail back to us with no "return to sender" or "insufficient address"...nothing. They process it through Kansas City then for some reason think the return address at the top left corner is the address it should go to, instead of the giant address written in the middle of the envelope. I am not sure who keeps doing this, but I dont think they passed 2nd grade.

They put the mail in the wrong box and when you call the office no one answers and it is busy all day. I have lost two packages that say they were delivered per tracking but somehow are not in my mailbox. It is a locked box so obviously someone put it in the wrong one.

The delivery system is TERRIBLE. The idiot mailman saw my daughter take our dogs out to go potty and then decided to COMPLETELY skip our house. It took less than 5 seconds to let our dogs go potty and then that apparently means I get no mail for the day. Pathetic.
