Many years ago, my computer was stolen, wiped clean and recovered. I had years of personal writing lost. One of my students recommended Kentucky Trade Computer Services. Everyone else had told me that my information was lost forever. KY Trade Computer found my information. Then, a few years later, my computer went on the fritz. They saved it. Over the years, these folks have given me advice on buying computers and computer equipment -- whether or not Ive ended up buying from them. I bought a cheap second-hand computer from them for emergency use and they replaced the charger for me twice without charge. Ive been shown how to do things to protect my computer; advised against things that sound good, but are just money spent on something I could get for free; advised to purchase something that was cheaper than what I thought I needed, but was actually what I really needed. I once took in a computer that was a brand notorious for problems -- especially melted motherboards. I was told I could replace it, but that it would just burn out again, or I could put that money toward a new computer and was actually advised to purchase a brand of computer that they dont sell. Theyve taken me back in the shop to see what they were doing to my computer (and to point out the sheer number of computers in their shop from that particular brand in with fried motherboards). I also once too a friend there to purchase a computer. He was older and money wasnt an issue for him. He said he wanted the best computer -- and literally told them that price didnt matter. Instead of just setting him up with their most expensive computer, they asked him what he wanted to do on the laptop. They could have set him up with an expensive gamer model, but instead, when they learned he just wanted to email, surf the net, maybe store some photos, they set him up with a fairly inexpensive model. I feel like family there. I would recommend them to anyone, any time for anything computer-tech-ish. I trust them absolutely.

I used KY trade in UK library location. I brought a laptop to them that was shutting down randomly. The people working there were really nice however they were not able to fix the problem. I unfortunately have to say that they did not give me the impression that they knew what they are doing. They spent a lot of time (about one week) to figure out what the problem is and it took them about ten days to give me the computer back. However the problem was not solved, my computer is not repaired and have the same problem. It is a cheap place but that doesnt help if the work doesnt get done.

I understand that they have to overprice their inferior junk so that they can keep the store open, since they have so much of it. This store preys on the sucker. I would LOVE to support a local business, and Im sure that their tech-support is good, but as a retail shop, Im highly disappointed. Visiting their store gives me a sense of dread if I need anything beside cables. Need some ancient scrap part for a hobby-computer project? KY Trade has it, and will demand $90 for it. The sales associates know their stuff, and can help you find their overpriced junk very well.

They build me a great custom made desktop computer the way I wanted it, they did not put all those programs on it that you do not use. I also got a free 2 year warranty . They built my new Vista desktop computer the day Vista came out over 2 years ago January and it is working great. I chose a tower that had a see through plastic side with colored lights on the inside, looks fantastic. Another big advantage, is that if you have a problem, they are right here to help you. It is a local business.

Not sure what everyone on here is so upset about and no this is not a fake review. Went to their desk in William T Young when my screen wasnt turning on on my laptop and again when I couldnt figure out why my wireless card wasnt working. Both times I got my computer back, fixed within a half hour and didnt pay a dime...I guess their store is worse? I dont buy computers from them though. I would just recommend them to troubleshoot your computer over geek squad or whatever else is out there.

I took my computer to them because they were the closest to campus. My PC wouldnt boot up, so they took it apart and said they tested all the parts and couldnt figure out what was wrong with it. They then proceeded to try to charge me over $70 for the "diagnostic" they did. My PC then quit working less than two weeks later. I went to Computers Plus Repair next and they told me what the problem was in less than 3 mins and didnt charge me a dime. I will never go back to these guys again.

Just a quick little experience here... I needed to buy a micro-screwdriver set to get a part out of my computer. After seeing they only had full sets that cost upwards of 30 dollars, I was disappointed that I would have to spend a pretty penny just for one job. They offered to lend me a micro-screwdriver for my uses, and even told me I could keep it if I desired. Truly nice people here. A+ Customer service!

Went to replace my hardrive and they are super overpriced 100 dollars with the student discount for the labor alone! And on top of that I paid 70 dollars for A less quality hardrive then I had before oh it gets better then when I get home I discover they cheated me and didnt even give me the one I paid for!! Took forever to call I had to call them days later to even know if it was ready! WOULD NOT GO HERE!

I took my outdated Mac to Ky Trade. I didnt want a new laptop because Apple only offers smaller screens now. Franklin updated my computer at a reasonable price and now I am up-to-date running Yosemite. Now that I have found KyTrade, I suspect I will keep my jewell up and running for a long, long time. Nice, personable and knowledgeable staff and the service was prompt and right on time.

Staff is good but lady who runs is a total nut case. I went there to recover my data and restore my OS, instead they recommend that I should get a new hard drive. I had them recover data for me and format my hard drive, came home and restore everything from scratch on my own.~~I went there for a simple service and she wanted me to pay extra bucks without any reason. NOT SATISFIED.

Great staff and great service. They are friendly and Knowledgeable. I am a Computer tech myself. Many years ago I would drop in to buy parts and they helped me with any questions I had at the time. I was a student with questions and they had answers. Freddy the owner is very friendly and courteous. He often is there helping and greeting his clients with his staff.

Bought a part offline that was missing a screw. Went to them to see if they had any and not only did the owner provide me with the part needed, he also warned me of problems I might face and ways to avoid them. He also gave me a small screwdriver and refused to accept any money. Theyre here to service the community and theyre absolutely worthy of business.
