Im very mixed on this place. Ive been lifting for almost 8 years now, and am fairly accomplished. I know what Im doing and my physique reflects that - I dont want to sound cocky but when it comes to gyms and working out Ive been around the block a few times. When it comes to the facility and the staff, its great. Everything is clean, well-maintained, and equipment is newer. The staff are friendly and inviting which is always good. HOWEVER, I hate their vision. Dont get me wrong, I love the part that everyone should be accepted and feel comfortable. The fact that YOUR workout must be defined by what they deem acceptable, is what I hate. Its their way or the highway. Because of this it is difficult to get a great workout in, and Ill choose the highway every time. It seems like they want everyone to feel like the common-mans mediocre workout, that doesnt challenge you and doesnt yield results is okay - when its just the opposite. I love seeing people that arent necessarily in shape hitting the gym. But I hate seeing them wasting their time by not putting in the work because this "soft" gym tells them its okay to do that. Maximum muscle hypertrophy occurs at 7-12 repetitions for weight training, but you cant just grab any weight and do that, you have to be at or near failure at the last repetition for it to occur. If youre doing that, youre going to fail and as a result of the fatigue you wont be able to gently set your weight down, but thats not okay here. Its like they dont want to see you putting in real work. Next, I dont know what kind of gym thinks its alright to (almost) have no free-weights. This directly neglects the core - the most important part of the body, physically - by not allowing real deadlifts. You also cant do real squats. Sure, you can do these lifts on a smith machine (In addition to bench, shoulder press, bent-over rows, etc.), but youre results will be hindered greatly because you dont stabilize and control the weight yourself or approach failure. If youre worried about the few people being judgmental or making fun of you, remember that nobody else likes those people either - I cant stand them. Almost everyone else likes to see you in the gym putting in work whether youve made significant results or not because almost everyone started out of shape. In conclusion, if you want to see results, go somewhere else that promotes a hard work ethic and doesnt tell you that your workout that doesnt challenge you is okay. If it doesnt challenge you it doesnt change you.

I joined about 2-3 months ago. I havent really had bad experiences with the staff but havent really had good ones either. I work in retail so customer service stands out to me. I joined online and when I went in for my very first time the guy rushed through it all with me. No big deal, I was fine, but I did take note that I didnt feel very welcomed. Tonight I went in at 9 pm to avoid the crowds, and also had upgraded online earlier so I could use the hydromassage. At about 10:45 pm I went up to the desk and one young girl clerk looked liked she was going to clean a tanning bed or something so there was one tall young guy at the desk. He looked SO annoyed to wait on me. I said, "Id like to use the hydromassage and Ive never used it before. " Then, without ever looking at me, asks if I want to lay down or sit. I said sit and he told me chair 3. I then asked, " Do I need to do anything?" He looks dead in my eye, and very condescending says to me " Sit down and hit start." Sounds pretty funny and I would have laughed had he said it in a joking manner but I was stunned. Hes young, obviously doesnt know about how to treat customers and has made me so mad. I wish I had gotten his name but I will give him another chance. Hopefully hes just having a bad day.

If you want to lift weights -- Im talking about doing squats, deadlifts, bench press -- this is not the gym for you. Its simply not, and thats okay, because they only charge $10 a month ($13.30 if you include the once-a-year $39.95 fee). What they *do* have is a metric buttload of cardio equipment. Im talking hundreds of bikes, ellipticals and treadmills. If youre just interested in staying slim, training for a marathon, or losing weight, Planet Fitness is the best value gym on Earth. Once you progress beyond beginner-level and want to get stronger, yeah, youll need a more robust gym. PF isnt totally devoid of free weights -- they have a selection of dumbells, barbells, -- plus they have Smith machines and other weight machines for strength training. But, if you want to see true gains, youll want more equipment. Youll want to do actual squats and deadlifts. As far as this individual equipment goes, this gym is brand new and very nice. Everything is in tip-top shape. Every piece of cardio equipment has its own TV. Ive not had any problems getting equipment, although it does get busy from 5:30 to 7:00.

If you are debating joining this gym, do it. I have been going as a guest for a while and finally joined a few weeks ago. When I go in the mornings I never have to wait for the free weights or a Smith Machine. The gym is always clean and well maintained. Im writing this review because of Chris, one of their employees. Ive been going to another gym for a couple years now and none of the staff know who I am even though I go 6 days a week. Chris at Planet Fitness greets me with a smile and actually knows WHO I am--not just my name. He also goes around the gym picking up, resetting equipment, and cleaning up after other members who are not as considerate or are in a hurry. When Im about to face a challenging day of work I cant explain how much that extra effort from him helps.

When I signed up the sales rep told me this location would be open by October 28th. They are now telling me it wont be open until next month sometime. When I called to ask if they could refund me this months payment they told me they couldnt and that none of their employees would have given me that date. I disregarded all the negative things I had heard about Planet Fitness and went ahead and joined up anyways. Now the gym isnt even open and Im starting to see why they generally have such terrible reviews when it comes to customer service. Hopefully things will improve once it opens......whenever that might be.

I usually go to the other location but wanted to try out this new one. I love the facility but the 2 girls at the front desk were very rude and had a serious attitude. It was like pulling teeth trying to get my questions answered about where equipment was and how long it had been open. I probably wont be back because of them and will tell all my family and friends. 12/2/16. 7:56pm Before I left another girl with glasses that was actually working is probably the only reason I may be back. She was extremely helpful and VERY sweet.

I had a very bad experience at this gym! As a black card member you would think unlimited guests be more than one! Its sad that you cant bring your wife and child to the gym at the same time! Yes my son is of age 14. So when I try to bring my family your employees be rude to my family! Could have explained the situation better. I would not recommend this place if you want your family to come at the same time! I will be canceling my membership due this reason! You should put in fine print for others to read before signing up also!
