This center is the best childcare center you could send your children to in Baton Rouge. They always focus on your individual childs needs and make sure they are getting the attention they deserve. The nursery teachers listen to every detailed instruction you give them and execute it to the best of their ability. My three children have gone through Southside and were at the top of their class in the gifted program at a public school. What I loved about the center is the Director. She always made sure your problems were taken care of as quick as possible and she pushes her employees to be the best they can be. Being a former Daycare worker, I know it can be hard to keep good staff and turn over is a common problem at MANY childcare centers. But at Southside, they have employees who have been there for 12+ years. They are doing something right. Love this place. The food is unique too, they have a professional chef who works there and makes the food all week. Very little of it is pre-cooked food you buy frozen, but he still always manages to pair it with fresh vegetables. The morning crew makes it easy to drop off my children in the morning! Definitely recommend this place!

I am the owner of Southside Child Development Center. Our program is only all about quality childcare. We are currently a 4 star childcare program. Our teachers have been at Southside from 1 year to 21 years. All have or are pursuing credentials in Early Childhood Education, ie: CDA and/or Bachelors degree. I invite anyone who is seriously interested in enrolling their children in a high quality childcare program to come in for a tour and witness for yourself the love and energy our teachers have for our children. Its no coincidence our children graduate to become the leaders of their Kindergarten classes at G/T schools and every private school in the area.Take a tour to observe the chemistry between the children and their teacher. Pay attention to the teacher/child ratios. Visit the kitchen and look at the food that is prepared for the children. Its a bonus if they have a professional chef who cooks for the children. My child currently attends Southside and I would recommend the center to my family and friends. I am very pleased with the teachers and the way that my child has blossomed. It’s a very structured environment with a detailed schedule and weekly activities such as swimming, gardening and tumbling. The seasoned teachers that have been with the center for years are excellent and always listen to any of my concerns. I also like the fact that this is a top rated center which is evident in the efficiency of the daily schedule. Lastly, Southside has an amazing chef who has even managed to make cauliflower appealing for my child.

I teach a fitness program in some of the day care centers in the Baton Rouge area and have always been impressed with Southside Child Development Center. From what I have seen, the teachers do a good job at engaging with the children and are attentive to them. I have seen the preschoolers recite the alphabet, count, plant seeds, watch them grow, and many other activities to prepare them for school.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! The teachers are all certified and the class ratios are low! The teachers are very personable and experienced. My children have learned so much! The food served is healthier than any other child care center I have put my children in. I could not be more pleased.

A lot of turnover with the assistants. The kids never get a chance to bond because it is always someone new. The food is not nearly as healthy as advertised.
