During our stay in Bar Harbor, my brother backed the car into a sidewalk curb bending the muffler. It was making some noise and started melting the back bumper. We went to Bar harbor Auto Repair and Towing the day before we had to leave and asked if there was any way they could fit us in. These guys were so great, they said bring it in now and we will take a look at it. We were absolutely thrilled and relieved that they could look at it so quickly and that they were so nice about it. We brought the car in and they took a look at it while we waited. They really eased our mind as we had a 16 hour drive back to Pittsburgh. They inspected the damage and corrected the easy fix but didnt want to do much more as the pipe was bent. He was concerned that it could break more and cause our stay to be longer if he attempted to correct it. He determined that the muffler pipe was bent but that we would be good to safely drive back home and have it repaired there. He snipped some parts of the bumper so that it didnt melt to the muffler, which eased our minds. The greatest part about this place was how they explained the damage to us and showed us EXACTLY what was wrong. They were courteous and spoke to us rather than above us as some places do when women walk in. In addition, he charged us a minimal fee for the work he did which was certianly a great thing for us as vacation is not cheap. I would highly recommend Bar Harbor Auto Repair and Towing. They were absolutely wonderful. Thanks guys! You have fans in Pittsburgh!

Despite what the other reviews say I had expetional service. I was stuck with a broken u-joint which noise developed after the road trip from CT. I did not know what was wrong and thought it was going to be something more expensive like a ball bearing or worse driveshaft but I could not drive home without getting it fixed. I was extremely nervous after reading these reviews but didnt have much of choice since I was staying at a hotel close to Bobs. I called that evening and was told to come in the morning. I went with my wife and Bob immediately put in on the lift and showed me exactly what was wrong with it after only a few minutes of troubleshooting. He told me and my wife to go have breakfast around the corner which was VERY good (sorry cant remember name). By the time we were done, so was my repair. I was charged an extremely reasonable amount for labor and was probably a 1/3 of what I would be charged in Fairfield County CT. These guys were extremely courteous, honest, friendly, speedy mechanics I have ever had the experience of dealing with. Their friend sitting in the office even offered us friendly advice of things to do while in town. I seriously cannot say enough. I just might save some maintenance work for them next time Im there. If you are on vacation and need a repair at least go check them out. Bob seemed like a great family man.

On July 2012 vacation my 1999 S80 Volvo went into "limp mode" in the middle of Acadia National Park. We literally limped to Bar Harbor Auto at 12 mph max. The fellow (wish I had gotten his name) working on a car dropped everything as he understood my situation. Most repair services would say they could look at it tomorrow. The computer hook up showed no error codes. But Scott did internet research on it over night at home. He correctly determined the engine throttle body needed to be replaced. He also told me that while they could do that repair, only a Volvo dealer can load the software associated. He didnt even charge me a cent! He then referred me to the company that could tow my car the 50 miles to Bangor. I cant imagine a better auto repair service. I highly recommend Bar Harbor Auto Repair. I am most grateful for their service to me.

Great Service, friendly staff and a very clean garage. I had a check engine light come on as I was on my way from Virginia to Bar Harbor for Vacation and stopped at the local gas station to ask where there was a shop to get it looked at. They recommended that I go to Bar Harbor Auto, so I went there with no appointment and asked if they could check it out for me. Within minutes someone came out checked it with their computer and told me it was a common code something about the evaporation system and recommended I replace my gas cap. I agreed to do so and the light was off. All they charged me was 15 dollars for the gas cap and I was out of there within 15 minutes. I drove over 2000 miles since leaving Bar Harbor and no more problems. So once again I will say Great Service, Friendly Staff and very honest! Thanks Bar Harbor Auto

We drove our RV 12 hours to Bar Harbor for a summer vacation. Once there we blew something out in the RV and lost power. You cant stay in an RV when you dont have power. We took it to Bar Harbor Auto Repair & Towing, and the owner took a look at it. They are not RV specialists, but the owner has some knowledge about them. It was clearly an electrical problem and wasnt a simple repair. The owner even got on the phone with the RV manufacturer to try to figure out a solution. At the end of the day, he was able to repair it temporarily until I could take it to my dealer in NJ. The charge for his time and expertise was more than fair. But he really saved our vacation. We really appreciated his care and concern and willingness to help.

tom tom,
I had to take my car to have work completed. I have had my 2003 Mercury Sable with 162,000 miles for repairs. I have never had anyone go above and beyond as much as the owner Scott did. He diagnosed my issues with my car and did not charge me anything!!! When he was done diagnosing it, he physically took me into my vehicle, showed me the issue, completely explained and even explained why the issue was happening. I have NEVER had any mechanic do even anything close to that. Bar Harbor Auto Repair and Towing is the best place to take your vehicle for ANY repairs or any type of difficulties you may have, then will treat you MORE then fair. I recommend the work there to any and everyone that needs work done

I almost passed up using Bar Harbor Auto because of the one negative review below. That review was so severe, while the others were so favorable, I reasoned something must not have been right about that negative review. On my 10 hour drive to Bar Harbor my left brake pad finally gave out. I brought my car to Bar Harbor Auto. They were courteous and had my car ready to go the same day (this during one of the busiest weeks in Bar Harbor). Being one of the few auto shops around, I expected a high price for the work. The bill was reasonable, significantly less than I expected. They saved my vacation!
