Interesting experience for sure. Major miscommunication between people who are experienced coloring hair and others who have no experience. I was taken by Tonya a stylist, asked for simple high contrast balayage. Was told it would be easy, and would take 3 hours. I went in on a Monday, the stylist ended up putting permanent hair color into my roots and spreading it down to where we needed to bleach/highlight for the balayage. Then when she went to go bleach, my hair turned out orange. After 8 hours the first day, was charged $220 and I went home with orange hair. Day 2, Tuesday, again, another 8 hours with the same rude stylist who continued to blame me for using box color which she said was the reason the hair keep coming out orange, only where she put the permanent hair color. Again I went home with partially orange hair, extremely uneven color all throughout and basically the worst ombre I have ever seen. I wrote an email to the senior stylist explaining my frustration. Was called by the owner, Alanna, and was asked to come in the same day to get it fixed by Sarah, who I was originally supposed to see. I agreed. I came in, after about another 7 hours, we were close but at this point my hair had gone through over 5 lightening processes, and is completely dead. I was told we will do a hair restoration process, unfortunately you cant restore and bring back to life dead hair. Was told to come back again on friday to help blend the harsh ombre. The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because, Sarah was great and I think if I had her from the beginning, none of this would have happened, and Alanna who worked with me to make sure I was happy. I was also refunded, and given some products to help "restore" my hair and a few other things, but to have grown out my hair for so long (it was below my breast), to now having to cut it off because it is completely dead and looks like straw, with more split ends then when I initially went in and not to mention the over 24 hours I had spent in one week there I definitely dont think I will be going back there.

I went to Head Games for the first time last night. It is such a cute place with a very friendly atmosphere. Ive been to places where the employees barely even look at you or say hi, but Head Games was totally the opposite. Jessica did my haircut (cut about 2 inches and layered it), she was very helpful explaining what would work and what would not work with my thick, curly hair. She also showed my how to style it by twisting small sections in the direction of the curl (I had always twisted it all in the same direction, but she did a lot in the opposite direction). The cut didnt take very long, it looked super cute, and it was not very expensive ($40). Everyone at work today is saying how much they love the curls. Yay! Ill definitely go back.

I love Head Games and wont go anywhere else. They do such a fantastic job with curly hair!! Most stylists dont know what to do with curly hair, but not the girls at Head Games! They are friendly, relaxed, and professional. They do a fabulous job with color too. To Sues review - their address IS on their website and it comes up right away with any Google search. I can understand being disappointed with not being able to get the cool new cut for your daughter because there wasnt enough time....but if you are late you have to understand that they have other customers booked after you...and if someone doesnt ask what service you want to book, you need to pipe up and make sure they know!!

I have finally found a fantastic salon in Portland, Maine! Maureen was amazing with my brows. She was attentive and took the time to listen to me and explain our next steps to continue the walk to beauty. I met with Jessica for my hair consultation. I am ready for a change in my hair, and she too was very attentive and scientifically artistic with explaining the steps I need to take to get the results I am looking for. I am quite excited for my next appointment in November! Thank you!!!!!

Feeling disappointed....after spending $225 on what was suppose to be a super blond balayage, my hair ended up looking pretty much the same as it did when I walked in. After a few washes, it now has a red tone which I really hate. I went to get very blond for my summer in florida and now Im unable to get it corrected because I am away....Vanessa was super nice, but I paid so much and ended up pretty unhappy.

Kate specialized in curly hair and it is the best haircut I have ever gotten. The service is great and the atmosphere is hip. My one complaint is that they raised their prices $10 but didnt bother to tell me before my haircut. $40 was affordable. $50 is not. Now I get my hair cut by friends and try go to Kate twice a year. After tip, $60 is too much for Portlanders to pay for a haircut.

I always look forward to my haircuts at Head Games! I have been getting my haircuts there for over two years and have never received a bad one. The staff always devote all their attention to your hair and your needs (water, coffee, beer or wine!). Very kind and caring and creative staff and I would highly recommend anyone to visit Head Games for their hair care needs!

Just moved to Portland and chose to get a cut at Head Games based on the favorable reviews online. So glad I did. Great atmosphere -- none of the stuffy, snobby attitudes Ive experienced at other salons. The staff was friendly, attentive, professional and laid-back. The price was completely reasonable, and my hair cut was fantastic. Will definitely go back again!

I went to this salon for a hair cut and full highlights. The hair cut went ok but the highlights are barely there and I paid almost $200! She only left them in for 15-20 minutes and when I asked she said that was all that they needed. Well, obvously it was not, you can barely see any difference and I feel scammed!! $ 200,-!!!!

Just moved to Portland and needed a go-to salon and stylist. I got to enjoy a hot cup of tea (perfect for a rainy evening, but I might take them up on the wine another day) and Sally gave me an excellent cut. I love it when a stylist listens well, but also intuitively knows what is best. Sally knows her stuff. Will return!

Rachel is amazing. I have curly hair and she know exactly what to do to make it look great. Every haircut has been a winner. I love that Head Games has nape trims as part of short hair maintenance. I dont need a full haircut every month, so I can pop in for a 10 minute touchup.

Rachel has been cutting my hair for a long time, longer than any other stylist, and she always makes me look completely fantastic in addition to being a delight herself. The staff are also friendly and helpful. I cannot recommend Rachel enough.

I really like going to this place, they make sure youre comfortable with a beer on arrival. The staff are down to earth and friendly, they also have given me the best haircut Ive had in Portland, and Ive been around.
