I am sad to say that this was the worst and saddest haircut Ive ever received. I went in on Saturday and asked for a trim, and the stylist (who never introduced herself, so I cant tell you her name) gave me a skeptical look and said, "a what?" so I showed her how much I wanted her to cut (about 2 inches) and told her I wanted it angled in front. I have fine, straight hair past my shoulders, and in every single other haircut Ive ever had, the stylist has cut my hair in phases, checking in with me about how much I want cut, asking where I want the angle to start in front, pinning up the outer layers while cutting the under layers. These cuts generally take 20-30 minutes. At Arelis, the stylist combed my wet hair, took her scissors, cut straight around in big hunks, and then chopped off about 6 inches in front, leaving big hanks of hair about nose-length. She asked, is this what you wanted? after she did one side. At that point, what could I say? It was like Armageddon. She chopped off the other side and seemed to be finished. The whole thing took less than 5 minutes. She said, OK? and I said, is it even? and she said yes. I was slightly stunned. I paid and left. I didnt even know what to say, and she didnt comb it out in the end (much less ask if I wanted it dried) so I didnt see the whole extent of the damage. When I got home and dried it, I found that not only was the front ridiculously short (and looked awful), but that there were big hunks of uneven hair all around my head- one a thick lock about 2 inches longer than everything else, and uneven strands all the way around. I have never gotten a second haircut to fix a first until that day, but I went to another salon and just asked them to make it even. It was by far the worst haircut Ive ever had, and completely unprofessional. I felt like I had been attacked by a 7-year-old playing "beauty school." I would definitely recommend avoiding this salon.

I can you tell I know Dominican hair salons! As a native Dominican raised in New York, Ive been going to salons since I was 6 years old. I moved to the DC metro area 7 years ago and struggled to find a great stylist. I tried 5 "Dominican" places- epic fail. My hair even got damaged in the process. By stroke of luck, I stumbled unto Arelis 4 years ago and the rest is history! Immediately she could tell my hair had lost its health. I remember she said keep coming here and Ill have your hair as good as know. To this day, Arelis (owner) has never failed. Gives my a true Dominican blow out causing rave at my office. Her blowout is so good I decided to stop relaxing my hair because she makes it looks incredibly straight. Now Im fully natural and you couldnt even tell the difference. The added bonus is now I can even enjoy my natural hair during the summertime as well. Arelis helped me transition. I would use never done it without her. I know my hair is in great hands and looks phenomenal. And to top it all, she is such an absolutely wonderful caring person!

I was a walk-in to the salon. I actually was going to another one in the area but got confused. Anyway, Ive been here for about (18) months now & I LOVE IT, truly! Ive seen all ethnic types come here: black; hispanic; thick hair; natural curly hair; fine hair; long hair; & short hair-thats me. They style my short hair so good w/ cut that Im having a hard time letting it grow back :) But I keep trying. I have never felt like a new customer even though I dont come as often as I should.... Since day one, I have felt like a regular customer. I am ALL about CUSTOMER SERVICE, & have recd. nothing less. I am VERY pleased here. And will continue to come, as I let my hair growth back. They are not just about styling, but keeping your hair healthy too, which is the key & something you want. If youre all about customer service & healthy hair not just a style, this is the place for you, for me.

I have been going to Arelis Beauty Service for more than 5 years. Healthy hair starts with a clean scalp, hair and a good conditioner. You will always receive a good shampoo at Arelis Beauty Services because your scalp will be scrubbed and scrubbed until your hair is squeaky clean. Service is provided by the next available hair stylist which minimizes the amount of time you will spend there. The stylists are consistently good, so you wont mind which one you get. Usually you can get same day service for a special evening event if you come in early enough. Over the years, I have observed women come into the salon with hair in bad condition with little to no growth. After one visit they become regular customers and It is not long before Arelis will get their hair restored and growing. The salon is always clean and caters to all hair types.

I have been coming to Arelis for the past 8 years now and from the moment I entered the salon and got my very first wash and set I knew that this would be my salon. Ive tried other salons but this has been the best one thus far. They have very great service, they take very good care of my hair, my hair is healthy, It has not broken off, Im sure thats some concerns with other salons, but trust me at Arelis you are in great hands. I recommend this salon to everyone, my family and friends and they love it and just like me they have not left. Arelis has become my family and I just want to share my experience so you guys can check out how awesome they are and hopefully they become your family too. Arelis herself (the owner of this salon) has been my hairdresser for almost 15 years. I have been to many Dominican and non Dominican salon and noone can do my hair as nice as Arelis can. I have natural hair and I get just a roller set and a blow out and my hair looks amazing every time. She also does an amazing job coloring my hair with minimum damage to my hair, even when I get highlights. Everyone here is super friendly and the prices are very reasonable especiallyfor the type of service. I absolutely love this hair salon ! (And I travel over 30 mins to come here )
