I joined in 2008. At first, really the first couple of years, the place was exceptional. Gradually, it got worse and worse. I am talking about the Mens dressing room. They used to have a hard working and intelligent locker room monitor. He was friendly, came to know the members by name, and policed the place by cleaning up the floors of soggy towels and making sure that people did not go into the whirlpool right after exercising without a shower . After they let him go for some unknown reason, they have had a series of workers, mostly short time, and content just to pick up the used towels from the containers and restocking. Some men use the whirlpool naked or wrapped in a Lifetime towel and then leave it sopping on the floor. The young high school crowd in the late afternoon are noisy (which I could endure) and seldom if ever shower before getting in. On the good side is that the equipment is well maintained and clean. I didnt use the trainers, but others did, and my observation of them is that they are professional. I complained regularly to the management about the dressing room maintenance and finally decided to go somewhere else and pulled out. Exercising only at the Rockville Swim Center, although substantially less costly, has facilities that are crowded during the times I want to go. I gained weight and my blood sugar rose, so I decided to put up with the dirty dressing room and the stinking whirlpool (it does) and rejoin. In the meantime, the monthly charge had gone up from $90 to `$106 and the charge for a locker had gone to $50. I would have been happy to rejoin at the previous rate but the unfriendly salesman" was not open to letting me back at the previous rate. He was impolite and haughty. I guess their membership is full

This "gym" is fantastic. They have an extensive offering of classes at all times of day, salon services that are fantastic, massage services, an excellent sandwich and smoothie bar, and amenities that include a sauna, steam room, and hot tub in addition to the expansive locker room and private showers. The equipment there is in perfect shape and when something did break down, I only noticed it down for one or two gym sessions and there are always plenty of alternatives. The atmosphere from the lobby to the gym and classrooms is incredible. I remember going in to visit, not planning on joining, but I was so impressed by the facility that I joined on the spot. All of these services do come at a price, around $90 a month. At this price I was disappointed that this location does not have pool or racquetball offerings as others do. I had to eventually leave because I just couldnt afford it any longer but miss it greatly. I particularly enjoyed a leisurely 11pm workout when it was mostly empty and could relax and workout, with a dip in the tub afterward tow wind down for the evening. If luxury fitness is your thing and you can afford it, this place is simply the best. The customer service is also to be celebrated. I once left my card in a locked and when I went in the next week expecting to pay for a new one, they simply pulled out a box of lost cards and pulled out the one I had left. Quick, easy, and I then went right in for my workout. Everyone is very professional and greeted me with a smile every time I came in.

I LOVE this gym. Its a great place to go for a late personal workout, nice classes, helpful staff, lovely environment. My favorite is the ladies locker room. I spend hours in their jacuzzi, eucalyptus steam room, and sauna. I really appreciate the salon products in the showers. I would really like to try out the spa but I never have time. You see, Im a licensed daycare provider. I have two young children of my own and was ecstatic when both my younger daughter with attachment issues and my older were happy to stay and play in their large childrens area during my trial period. HOWEVER, when I came back during busier hours the place was swamped with children like 17-1 in the infant area and numerous times I saw obviously sick children in their care. Who wants to contract a virus when you go to work out??? I signed up anyway but NOT my kids. I found out there is no regulation for gym child cares. Can you believe that? Childcare facility legal ratios are 3-1 for infants and 10-1 for pre-school aged children. I only know the matter was addressed through a response from the general manager-Anastasia and what I overheard a staff member saying in the locker room. The people overseeing the childcare operation never contacted me. I guess its up to me to see if anything really changed but who has the time. Ive already brought my kids up there twice just to drive 20 minutes back home to Bethesda. I leave them with my husband where they can stay healthy and safe. I dont get to visit that often because of it but...you know priorities.

I dont normally write reviews but Im appalled by all the negative reviews I see on Google. This review is based solely on my opinion and experience as a member over the last few years. To start this is considered a premium gym and carries a bit of a monthly price tag attached to it which would be my only reason for deducting 1 star, however it is because of this that the gym attracts a different type of clientele. The gym is gorgeous and kinda resembles more of a day spa feel and look. The gym also offers plenty of amenities such as complimentary workout and bath towels that can easily be found throughout the entire gym. In the lockers rooms you will find an amazing eucalyptus steam, dry sauna, as well as jacuzzi. The actual gym is pretty spacious. The free weight area, workout machines and cardio equipment are well spaced out so you never feel cramped. Lifetime also offers plenty of classes like yoga, spinning, pilates, cycling, and kickboxing to name a few. There is even a small cafe in the gym for pre or post workout nourishment. The Spa and Salon is an added bonus as you can get a massage to help you recover or relax or even get a haircut or your nails done if you wish. Now as I said this is based solely off my experience as I can not speak for others but I would definitely recommend at least checking out Lifetime if you are interested. I would also ask for Gadi or Stefon when you come in and theyll take good care of you.

Yo, do you like staying fit and working out, dont come to this club. WTF, who would want to pay more for less service, you have to be out of your mind. This is an "ONYX Club", what? An ONYX means that you get Onyx tiles in the bathroom? You have to be kidding me. I have Gold (they got rid of Gold and now Platinum) membership and I get better stuff like the pool and full court gym. Give me a break guys, you come to the gym for a single purpose, to workout; however, the management and the staff dont see it that way. Sales wants to know how to convert people who have Gold to Onyx, huh? Money is the single driver for their business, I get it, we all need to make money, but we are in a recession and everyone is looking for value. What am I getting for Onyx membership, well you get less but our club is located in Rockville, hmm. Lots of dumb people in Rockville? If Onyx membership offers the pool and full court gym, I will consider it but without it, forget it. Sooner or later, the members will learn that the gym does have a lot of stuff and will lose membership. BTW, there is collusion between front desk staff and sales. "Anyone with Gold membership, send them down to sales, lets convert them all, ha ha ha." You know, I like a staff who understands the business of working out, and not dollar signs all the time. Bottom line, you will find better gym at a lower price with better customer service.
