You are not allowed to lift anything off the floor or overhead at this gym! I went here to train as a drop in. I paid 20 dollars and started my work out. I was doing snatch, clean and jerk, front squat and good mornings. Right after I finished with the snatch and warming up a guy stood behind me staring at me. I asked him (didnt get his name) if there was something wrong and he said: " he just wanted to see what I was doing." I ignored him and started my CJs. Then this guy said thats not allowed. I was a little annoyed. He pointed to a sign that said no deadlifts and no power cleans. I would argue that a clean and jerk is not either of those things but whatever. Next he told me that I could NOT lift anything off the floor or overhead, except on the smith machine. I was like ok give me back my money and Im out. Manager at the front wanted a receipt initially, but since I never got one he huffed and puffed and I guess found me paying on the security camera. In any case he was pretty gruff about giving me my money back. I went to the locker room and got my stuff. On the way out I just said thanks and then the manager was actually pretty pleasant and we had a brief conversation about olympic style weightlifting. Thats cool if they have that policy but they should tell you before you go, pay, and start your workout. A creepy guy should not leer at you while you are focusing on lifting, and overall their attitude was a bit gruff. Plus one star for manager Rick actually being somewhat pleasant to me on the way out. Ruined my workout though and if they (Rick) would have said on the phone that they dont allow anything overhead or off the floor when I called to ask if I could do a drop in everyone would have been saved a lot of aggravation.

Read this carefully Would you want to join a gym membership that you cant cancel anytime? Would you want to join a gym that you have to cancel in person? Or have to send a registered mail to cancel membership!! Would you want to join a gym that forces you to a 12 month membership! And finally would you want the deal with rude rude staff! I joined this gym and signed for universal membership. The next weekend i went to its sister branch which boasted having state of the art equipment only to find they have been closed for weeks and still not operational (construction and re-modelling) yet they did not warn of such on their website. Then after two months of travels and busy schedules, i realized it was such a busy time for me for a gym membership. I called the gym and they told me I cant cancel over the phone, and worse they said I have to stay with the gym for 12 months because its what I singed for, mind you I am a premium customer and during the sing-up, the staff had told me, and it even says on their website one can cancel anytime. They said there is a contract buyout of $58. So all of us sudden, paying for premium membership I have to pay for canceling my monthly membership before the 12 months! Wait is this a phone plan??? I hope you see the absurdity of this! These folks are more intrested in taking your money and making it super-difficult to end your patronage. I am sure its against consumer protection laws to do that to its patrons!! Good luck in your Gym hunt but CHEAP is EXPENSIVE, this is NOT your GYM.

Ive been a member for over a year, and this gym gets a resounding "Meh." Its $10 a month, so dont expect anything but subpar. If you want a shiny new gym with crazy amenities, this is not for you. Pros: The machines are nice, and generally the vibe is friendly. They have lots of TVs and a newly renovated locker room. Even around 6 pm on weekdays, you dont have to wait long for a machine. Also, my plan is $10 a month without contract, so thats awesome. Cons: The womens locker room often floods and staff dont seem to care. I literally watched a damp ceiling tile fall on a woman this winter who was using the mirror. The machines are kinda gross, I dont think theyre wiped down all that often so I wipe them before I use them. The cardio machine have NO FANS. This seems ridiculous to me, but then again this gyms locker rooms got blown up last summer from the restaurant upstairs so I dont think they want to put more money into this place. Oh yeah, and dont count on WiFi. Also, side note, the door says "Open 24/7 Monday-Friday 5am-12am Saturday&Sunday 7am-7pm" Uhhhh, thats not 24/7 you guys.

Good for the price, but not great. Its hard to beat $10 a month, but my major complaints are that they ban deadlifting and also the dumbbells dont go heavy enough. Deadlifting is a great full body exercise that is totally safe when performed correctly, but they ban it ostensibly for safety and I suppose also to keep "lunks" out of the "judgement-free zone", although it certainly feels like Im the one being judged when they are telling me how I can and cant pick up weights. Dumbbell deadlifts are allowed, but the heaviest they have are 70lbs (one pair). That is also not heavy enough for other exercises, like dumbbell bench press. They have soooo much cardio equipment, but I really find the upper range of dumbbells to be lacking. Also, the place tends to leak a lot, they often have buckets lying around catching dripping water. If they fixed the 3 problems I mention here, my rating would go to 4 or 5 stars.

I see some other reviewers hating on this place. While I dont doubt anyone could get a bad experience at any place from time to time, you have to think about this: my membership for all year cost me $140. Go anyplace else and you will have to pay more than $50/month. No, Planet Fitness doesnt have classes, a pool, sauna, etc. but it has plenty of freeweights, plenty of elliptical machines/treadmills, and weight machines. Its not the prettiest place and yes, from time to time you can smell the vietnamese food from the Eden Center through vents. Kinda grungy from time to time. Its not the gym for everyone, but for me its perfect. You pay $10/month and $20 one time a year in October for a renewal. What do you expect for $10 a month?! Its cheap enough not to go! And personally I get think it has a lot to offer considering itll cost you 80% less than other gyms in the area.

Okay, so I tried to join this gym. I went in twice, first time "you dont have your checkbook, come back". Fine, I figured thats okay I got to see the location. I call in before going next time and the guy assures me that he can sign me up for the deal I wanted. I show up the SECOND time and the guy says "oh I dont know who you spoke to, but youll have to speak to the manager Rick" great another wasted trip. I call into the manager Rick, who is the most unhelpful, inconsiderate lousy excuse for a manager I can imagine. Basically he told me, "I dont get any commission from signing you up and were the lowest price in town, so I dont care if you sign up or not". He blamed me for not having all the information, when his own people were the ones confused. I will pay twice as much NOT to deal with people like this.
