DONT JOIN PLANET FITNESS if you want to get really physically fit and for athletic purposes! But if you have no set goals that might be a place for you. I once was a member of PF and was semi satisfied. As my goals changed and when then they started to remove essential equipment I realized it wasnt a helping me and I quit. I hate change but it was the best thing that I could do for my physical and health goals. What you pay for and what you get is almost a good deal. At this particular location though dealing with the negative attitude of the manager, some of the fellow members, and some of the desk staff its not worth it. Especially when because of these poor attitudes have caused some ejected members to put bullet holes into the gym windows while the gym was closed. The equipment is ok but is crammed into a small location which at peak times can make it like a 20 man wrestling battle royal. Bathrooms are always kept clean and despite how some of the members leave them. All in all if you want to pay too much for what you get, want to half ass a way towards being healthy while being crapped on by the manager join this type of gym. Because youll not see results, not go because the "judgment free" zone doesnt apply to the Manger or cant get onto a machine because its too small and too crowded.

So anyone with a computer and a gripe can write a review? Anyway, I was a BSC member for 5 years and came to resent paying $80 to work-out in a basement. I came to Planet Fitness looking for a new gym. I live in the Southend and it is 5 miles from my home but, the value at $10 per month is more than worth the commute. And there is free parking. Plus I get to watch the sunrise in the morning and have a water view. The staff dont seem to have a lot of duties other than front desk issues so, I dont interact much with them. Although, they are friendlier than most of the BSC personnel. Most importantly, the equipment is better than other Planet Fitness locations I have visited. I also like the other members. Most people seem serious about working out and I have learned a lot by watching their work-outs and talking with them, So, 5 stars for the value, at ten dollars a month no other gym in Boston is going to beat this place.

Firstly, the only real problem I have with this gym is the location. If your coming over the bridge, (Which is now under construction.) it is a pain to get to. Other than that the gym is very good, the price is cheap. They have a few tanning beds, although I never see anyone using them. The locker room is clean, but could use a little more space. The machines and everything else is clean and relatively new. The people working the front desk are helpful and nice. The trainers there are also nice and helpful. I havent encountered the manager but he doesnt seem to be as big of a jerk as the other comments say.

I have been at Planet Fitness in various locations for the past 6 years, most of which were adequate. However, the staff at this location is unbelievably rude. Their stated closing time is at 7pm...however, at 6:45 a very rude, aggressive woman rounds up customers like cattle, getting in their face and telling them to get out. My partner and I watched several customers get in a screaming match with her threatening to contact the manager but she didnt seem to care. Then we watched her lock up the gym and leave 5 minutes before stated closing time. Unbelievable.

You get what you pay for. I expect very little from a gym. I accept the fact they have limited range of free weights (70 max), no bench press, etc. Because its a "gym for regular people." But the employees are rude and keep ringing that obnoxious alarm multiple times up to 20 minutes before closing to try to rush you out of there, then argue with you if you mention anything to them. If you want to close at 640, make the hours until 640 and not 7. But if I want to work out until 7, I dont want to be hassled. Its as simple as that.

Its clean and well kept. The manager is a real jerk. I pay black card so I can go to the gym near work and the one near home. He gives me crap when I come in, "Why do you come here so much?" Um, I pay double for the pleasure...screw you. If you dont like the franchise rules, dont run a franchise. Others at the desk are fine, if not downright nice. The gym is cramped and crowded, but its decent, especially for the price. The manager just needs to stay in his office and leave his patrons alone.

Im kinda surptised at some of the other comments. I think this gym membership is a great value. The place is clean and over all the equipment is in good working order. Customer service is lacking a bit, but then what do you expect for less then 50 cents a day. I have been a member for 7-8 months now and dont have any complaints. If you want to spend 10X then money I sure you can do better, but overall the gym is good and well worth the money.

I am a black card member at the gym and tried to bring a guest. The manager accused me of sneaking my guest in, even though I pay double to be able to have guest access. He was so rude and refused to let my guest enter. I would never recommend this gym to anyone, unless you want to be harassed and accused of having no integrity despite a service you pay for.

The manager is an A-HOLE.. the gym is pretty small and almost all of the head set units on the treamills are BROKEN! Ive been going for a couple of months and no one seems to give a crap that head sets dont work. The staff always look miserable, but then again if that was my manager I would be miserable too. Who ever hired that Manager is an idiot.

The personnel at this location is horrible. I called over to this location and spoke with a man named Gerry who ruined my night. He was incredibly rude, condescending, and hung up on me. It is hard to believe that PF chooses to staff people like this. Needless to say, I will never return PF.

Good size gym. Its not the gym I signed up with for the black card. tried to use it here and they said they dont participate in it or some crap. Still let me and my guest in but what the hell? I never went back. I thought black cards let u into any planet fitness

This gym is in a sketchy part of town. The gym equipment is pretty old, the building isnt in great condition and has low ceilings (for a gym). Ive been to a few Planet Fitness gyms that this has been the worst. Not sure why they have tanning beds.

Recently replaced the machines which makes it a lot better. The staff is okay - not always available when you need them to be. Gets very crowded during regular after work hours (5-7pm).
