This really should be a zero star review - or negative. I had problems with this company from day one when they refused to give my movers access to the locker. I had called in advance to let them know that they should give the key to the movers. I was assured that this would not be a problem. And yet, when the movers arrived, the person at the desk insisted he did not have a key and could not give access. After a number of phone calls to the management etc they discovered they had a key after all. When it was time to remove the contents of the locker, the movers could not make it until the 1st of the new month. Nantucket Storage refused to prorate the time or give me a break for being one day late. Instead I was charged for the entire subsequent month - a staggering $360 for a 10x10 locker. When the movers emptied the locker, they -- reasonably -- left the lock on the empty locker. The person at Nantucket Storage insisted again that they did not have a second key to the locker (which I had explicity instructed them to keep when I rented the locker). He demanded that I have the movers return to take the lock off the locker. If not, he said, they would charge me for an additional month. With all the trouble Ive had, I cant help but have the feeling that this is a scam operation that does everything they can to overcharge and squeeze out extra money by making it difficult or impossible for customers to vacate the lockers.

While house hunting on Nantucket we acquired quite a few things and needed to store them until we found the right house. Friends told us there was only one place they would suggest and that was the Nantucket Storage Center at 6 Sun Island Road. They told us to call Cindy the manager but they said they also heard it was full up. When we found it near the airport we saw a typical Nantucket grey shingled one story structure with neat landscaping. A cordial Cindy was sorry but she didnt have a vacancy but she would call us if one came up. A lady of her word, a few days before we were to fly home she called with a unit that became open that morning. When we arrived she took us to the elevator saying we were on the first floor but we thought we were on the first floor. To our surprise there are two underground floors in immaculate condition, well lighted and with comfort facilities. Cindy showed us a high ceilinged corner unit (on the first floor) that was perfect for our need. With Nantuckets volatile winter weather we felt safe with our first floor unit being two floors below ground. Cindy was very efficient with the paperwork for automatic monthly payments, the right insurance and how we can ship things to her to be put in our unit securely. All in all we were very happy to hook up with the Nantucket Storage Center. We agree with the Nantucketers who consider it the islands best. Because it is. David Laurance, Palm Beach, FL
