After my knee surgery in June of 2014, I needed a place to go to walk on a treadmill, and do some self training to get my legs back in shape. I joined Planet Fitness in Salem on November 10, 2014 and started walking on their treadmill, the first day I walked one mile. I continued and kept track of my miles. I joined at the right time, we had the worst snowy winter ever and Planet fitness is open 24 hours a day seven days a week except Christmas. Im proud to report that on August 14, 2015, I reached walking 800 miles on their treadmill. Anthony the Manager presented me with a Certificate of Achievement which I added to my collection and will be part of the book Im writing. My knee and legs feel much better. This is a good place to walk and workout. There is always someone walking around cleaning and wiping down whatever. Planet fitness works for me and I recommend it. Im the Sales manager for Salem Fitness, just to be fair. Quite honestly, when an interested party comes into my gym and they have been working-out at Planet Fitness but cant take the rules, or the lack of equipment, or the glunk alarm, I tell them "hey, for $10 a month, if you need a place to go to at 3 AM for some cardio, well why not hold on to it and get a membership here too for your serious workouts" It makes sense to them and do it for a short time then realize they are never using one or the other and cancel it. Its not too bad in the off hours, and they do have adequate cardio equipment. Its clean and they do give out free bagels and pizza once a month. Ive heard the craziest stories surrounding that promotion - members who never come in to workout, pulling up and getting free lunch... (the Walmart crowd) hilarious!!

This despicable branch requires 2 forms of payment, and if one is incorrect, you will be charged an additional $10 service fee per month, doubling the initial membership fee for most. I signed up during a breast cancer promotion while home from college and what initially was a good deed ended up making this branch double their membership profits. To make things worse, the assistant manager attempted to justify this predatory policy under the guise of my own lack of personal financial responsibility. Do yourself a favor, DO NOT spend your money at a company looking to squeeze every dime out of you, since you are just one in 5 million members. Spend it at a good cause like the YMCA or Boys and Girls Club, gyms without corporate greed included in fine print.

Joined this gym last week, so Ive only been there two times so far, but both times were positive experiences. I got the black membership so I wanted to try out the toys. I was curious about the "Total Body Enhancement" machine so I asked an employee about it. She was very helpful, answering my questions and showing me how to work it. Not sure how I feel about the machine itself, but I guess a lot of people use it. In terms of the equipment, everything I used was fully functional and clean. No problems there. Ill update this if I notice any issues, but so far so good!

Worst customer service!!! I was berated and belittled by a little woman named Ildiko who apparently was "judging" how I do my workout. Since Im unable to do all the machines in order because of an injury I was harrassed by her until I finally sought out the manager who also was rude to me. I left the gym upset and without my complete workout, I will never step foot in this location again. Most unproffessional and rude people I have ever dealt with. Consumer be aware, this isnt what they advertise. "Judge Free Zone"? This is the farthest from the truth.

Stopped by to ask about membership. The pricing is whacked and is against normal convention. Associates snickered non stop and couldnt provide a customercentric experience. When I asked to see the manager about the pricing, the manager never walked over, instead he was rude and insisted I walk over to him at the counter about 15 feet away. And here I thought I was the customer looking to spend the funds. One of the rudest and worst cuatomer services Ive had in a while.

Poor customer service came in wanting to pay my bill and Representative charges me my owed balance then I go on the next day assistant manager and manager tells me I have a over due balance and asks me to leave I ask can I come in with a friend holding the anger and embarrassment of there mistake they escort me to my friend as if I was a criminal I left feeling discriminated and ashamed

Worst customer service experience Ive ever had !! There is a girl, Lissa, working there that is very incompetent and rude to the customers. I was speechless when I asked her something about the gyms policy and she told me to go do something else. Yes, in a very rude way. Ive never been treated so unprofessional in my life.

Not enough free weights to go around during busy times. The showers are not cleaned enough. It generally has a run-down feel compared to newer planet fitness locations. Otherwise, its a pretty standard PF. Plenty of cardio machines and a good set up. Definitely a good value for $10-20 a month.

One of the better gyms Ive been a member of. Mostly they have everything I need, although sometimes I wish they had more than one of some of the weight machines, and more cardio equipment than treadmills and ellipticals. They have lots of them though, and Ive never had to wait.

Its never very clean last time I was there somebody was walking on the treadmill wearing construction boots in front of planet fitness employees and no one said nothing but they do have plenty of equipment and it is a big place it just needs to be taking better care of

They got all new equipment as of june 17. They have plenty of space for all machines, stretching, little rooms for specific workouts, massage beds, sun tanning and nicely equipped locker rooms. I dont like the gym and i like this one in particular.

Cheap, all the equipment you need, plenty of treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals, massage beds, chairs and tan booths. Staff is attentive but it isnt fun on the days when the womens locker room have male staff cleaning, mildly frequent.

An OK gym to get an OK workout. Definitely not the facility to join as your full time gym if youre serious about getting in shape. I use it as a supplement to my main gym since its location is convenient for me.

Judgemental, egotistical, unprofessional staff. The list goes on and on. Bottom line, even if you keep a membership to PF, this is the last location youd want to go to.

Fifty, dirty with bathrooms sometimes missing soap or toilet paper. And they are NOT open 24/7 despite these claims.
