I usually do not write reviews but after such terrible service this week dropping off my 96 Honda Civic I feel obligated to warn others. This week I had plans to take my car on a short road trip down south and dropped my Honda off to get my rear brakes replaced. Honestly, I was excited to work with these guys because the people in the front are VERY very friendly, and the one guy even mentioned how much he loved my Civic (he has a green one himself). I asked him before they replaced the brakes to see if there was anything screaming to be replaced, there answer "No no-youre good!". The next day, as I was leaving for my trip my brake line blew, thankfully I was still in the driveway. No big deal, I took it straight back the next morning, I had a feeling that they were real hard on my car replacing my brakes, but in no way did I ever right away accuse them of doing more damage to my car after they supposedly repaired it. Nonetheless, the guy put my car up right away looked at it, and decided this was "random" that it happened, but it seemed I also needed both my fuel lines and brake lines replaced. Yeh how much?...running about a $1000 in parts! and another $500 in labor! Yeah so the car is a little rusty on the bottom, but really? Even then, sure whatever - what else looks to be rusting out? Instead of answering that question the same idiot from the day before, "OR Id take this Honda off your hands and you can just sell it to us." Thats funny because I do notice them flipping cars in their lot, and eventually it all began to click. You screw with my car the day before, and when I come back in the next day your going to ridiculously over quote a price to a college student thinking I would bend to selling my only asset to you guys? No, take the car down, which right after the guy starts fuming saying that I have to sign something just in case i "go kill someone". After two phone calls I got quotes for new brake and fuel lines for $600-$700. Ill let that speak for itself. I ended up taking it to the guy on the other side of Main Street, Japanese Auto Professional Service, who said I dont even need my fuel lines replaced. Thanks Main Street Motors for disappointing me and joining the long list of dishonest mechanics ripping many motorist off. I hope it reflects in your bottom line.

I started taking my car here about 10 years ago, so that was several cars ago. The front office staff--Brian & Jay (Williams, the owner) are always thorough about what will be needed and what upcoming maintenance they see. I started coming here after I had a bad experience with a dealership and another repair shop. I asked around, and so many people recommended Main Street. I just had my brakes replaced--and unlike some other stories on this page, other shops quoted anywhere from $500 to $1200. MSM provided an accurate estimate of parts and labor, and when all was said & done, the final price was $100 less than the estimate. They also have excellent relationships with other shops and with the parts dealers. When Ive needed tires, while they offer a quote, they tell me that its from Belle Tire and that the price is the out the door price at Belle, and they get a percentage from Belle to offer the service. But they have no problem if I just take it to Belle for tires, rotaton, alignment. Ive also brought a car in that needed a critical repair before a trip. They made the calls and had the part delivered, then they installed and got me out the door in under an hour. The dealer quoted me three days and $50 more than Main Street. Why do I check other shops prices? Because I always like to know what the market price is. Main Street is not the lowest price, but not the highest either. And unlike some of the specialist Muffler or Tire shops that do mechanical work too, I never get hit with the last minute add ons that make the other shops prices look lower but end up higher.

I cannot even begin to describe the many ways in which despite the stated good intentions on behalf of the owner my trip to Main Street Motors seemed like a walk in the twilight zone. First they did not get approval for $ amount for work. Thats never happened to me before. Then they antagonized me on the phone. Then they did not like my online review and told me it was nasty. They told me in a nice way and I said I would change it. Then they were overly nice and apologetic and offered me a 10% discount. Then they offered me 200$ for my car which is hard to find. But they could not find the price online when I asked them. They told me it was not worth fixing and scrap goes for nothing but they would give me 200$. They told me the car was un-drivable. The car is clean inside and out. It took me all but 3min to look up the Kelly Blue Book price when I drove it back home. It is a very hard to find car and has a starting asking price for fair condition in Kelly Blue book of about $4000 and in excellent condition about $6000. They expected me to be lenient with them but they did not do the same in return when due to health problems I kept delaying to pick up the car. I am not sure who is to blame here, if anybody is or, if everything has been a bad miscommunication but I would never, ever go back to this place or recommend it to anyone. Youre better off going to LaFontaine Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Saline.

2002 WRX I wouldnt recommend this place. In Jan, 2014, they told me my brakes had less than 25% and would need changing very soon and suggested I do it then. I got lazy and waited until today. They quoted me $800-900 for 4 brakes, pads and rotors, and seemed surprised I wanted only pads. I went to Belle Tire Inc on Jackson, got a very professional and exact quote of $50-$180 for pads and if necessary, $60-$110 each rotor. I get there, and they tell me my brakes are at 50%front and 30%back, with 10k miles left and no reason to replace. They also told me two of my jack points are damaged from an improper lift, and they dont have the tools to lift my car without damaging it (more). The last time my car was lifted was here at Main St Motors, and before that at RevWorks in FL (who SPECIALIZE in Subarus). Draw your own damn conclusion. Its BS that I didnt find out sooner, but what else can I do. The attitude of bring it in and then well tell you how much you need to pay is shady too. Given my car model, year, and make you should know how much labor and parts are. Id give Belle Tire a try, and I would recommend against Main Street Motors if possible. Make a phone call and youll hear a professional difference in attitude immediately. PS: Only positive is Main Street Motors had a big friendly dog when I was there, and at least it aint the stealership (although, not far off at this point).
