Excellent, honest service!! Ive taken both of our Subaru Foresters, as well as our old Honda Civic, to the south Canton Auto Lab for years. Since Joe Alli took over the business, its gotten even better than it was before. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and I trust them to take care of my cars... and me! Update (summer 2017) - last year I noticed that my 2011 Forester was using a lot of oil. I took it to Auto Lab and they topped off my synthetic oil (at no charge) a couple of times, and they tried to figure out why the engine suddenly started to use oil. After not finding any obvious issues, John did some research online and discovered a class action settlement for Subaru owners whose cars experienced excessive oil consumption. He suggested that I take the car to Subaru and have them do an oil consumption test to see if my car qualified for a new engine. I made it to Subaru just before my odometer reached 100K miles, which would have made me ineligible. Long story short, my car failed the test and I got a new engine at no cost. Many auto repair shops would have happily offered me an expensive repair to fix the oil consumption. The fact that John told me I might qualify for a new engine from Subaru makes me a customer for life.

My brakes were squealing on my truck and upon my review I couldnt find anything (Im not an expert in drum brakes so I couldnt tell if anything was wrong), so I took it to Belle Tire. They told my my brakes were fine and told me to my face that I would have to put up with the squealing, but I knew something wasnt right. Also tried telling me my ball joints were shot and they could fix them for $600. All of this took 2.5 hours!! Took it to Auto-Lab the next day and they found a broken cable piece in my drums and it was most likely causing the squealing sound. They also found my parking brake was stuck, though not really affecting my brakes, but it was stuck nonetheless. Left a 2 hours later after having my brake hardware replaced and new adjustments done with NO NOISE! Great service, always kept informing me what they were doing with my truck and they didnt try forcing any extra work down my throat. Very polite and professional. I would highly recommend Auto-Lab!

Took my car there for some work, and when I got it back, several covers from strange parts of my car were just laying in my back seat. Plastic covers, that have nothing to do with the work being done. Why they removed them, Ill never know, because you dont need parts removed from your seats, to replace a fuel pump. All of my belongings were scattered across the backseat, and all of my floor mats were piled behind my passenger seat. Also unnecessary to change a fuel pump. Not only that, but an overdrive cover on my shift pad was removed and broken. Im also missing several strange things from my car, like a set of tiny screw drivers I always kept in the glove box. Ive had the car for 10 years, and have NEVER removed that set. They tried to charge me for things they didnt do with the car, and said they tried to, "fix," my car, when I only gave them permission to diagnose it. I will never bring my car back, nor would I ever send even my worst enemy there.

I have been coming to Auto Lab - South Canton for at least six years. Joe, John and their team are great. When I was a single mom with car problems, I would get filled with anxiety about taking my car in for repairs. Even though I am married, with our busy schedules and the new car technologies, the husband doesnt have the time to get under the hood. Whether you are a single woman or a married couple like us, I would HIGHLY recommend this team to anyone looking for an honest and trustworthy mechanic. Buying a used car? Take it in for an inspection. What you pay for upfront could save lots of headache and money later on. What else can I say? Oh yeah, they have loaner cars (if available at the time) so you arent left without a vehicle. They know that life goes on for you while your car needs repair. Love these guys so very much!

Reneged on appointment, 3 hours after I dropped my car off. Took my car in for some relatively minor repairs -- they were too busy, asked me to bring it in next Saturday at 7:30. No worries, it can wait. Fast forward to next Saturday, I drag myself out of bed on the one day i get to sleep in to take my car in for repair. Drop it off, sign to authorize some diagnostic fees. Seems good. Receive a call at 11am. Probably a diagnosis and estimate of charge, right? No. They were too busy and not able to get to my car. Thats right -- even with a weeks notice of schedule I was told Id have to drop off my car during the week. Oh, and the free loaner they advertise on their website? Not available. So...Im supposed to get to work how, now? Sorry doesnt cut it, guys. Get your act together.

This is addressed for all of the women out there. Have you ever gone to a place to get your car fixed and you felt that the price they quoted you was way to high?? I have and that is how Auto Lab of Canton South got my business. I took my car somewhere else first and got that gut wrenching feeling that I was getting taken for. I decided not to have my car fixed there. I took it Joe and they took care of me like I was a VIP customer. I have checked his pricing a few times and Auto Lab of Canton South has always been the lowest. The quality of the work has always been outstanding. Thank you Joe for opening a business that peoples daughters can go to and not feel like they are being taken advantage of!

I was in the Canton area for business. At the end of a long day and ready to drive home to Grosse Pointe.... I realized I had a huge nail sticking out of my back tire. I drove for about 1 mile and found this Auto-Lab on Michigan Avenue. The general manager, Joe Carroll, and his staff were friendly and professional. In no time - the patch was on and I was on my way home! but it doesnt end there....I also realized that I left my purse (and wallet) in my Southfield office - without hesitation - Joe said not to worry about it (even though I had my cc info to pay). This is a great family run Auto-Lab and they deserve your business - great people. Thank you!

Called a few weeks back to get some information in which they said theyd call back the next day. They didnt. I then called back for information and to set up an appointment for the following weekend. Get to my appointment today and theyre understaffed (2nd out of 3rd time that Ive been there) and were unable to get to my car. Negotiated getting a loaner car later in the day so they can get to work on it Monday. Go to pick up loaner car and 35min into my 40min drive they call and say that the loaner car insurance had run out and I couldnt use that car. Turn around and head back to the job. Understaffed, and unprofessional thus far.
