The conclusion at the end of this review is based on my 25 years in the new car sales business which began as a salesman and ended in 2012 as a retired General manager. Yesterday while surfing Craigslist for a vehicle I came across a very low priced, ideal vehicle for our needs at a Vic Canever Chevrolet. Based on the unusually low sale price of the vehicle, and having worked at a number of Chevy dealerships during my career, I new that I need to call and verify the vehicles availability . I was told by the Salesmans that surprisingly it did not sell over the weekend and that it was still available. The dealership was 60 miles away and I new I wouldnt be able to get there until late afternoon. During that time I called twice as our day took me closer to the dealership. My last call, 15 minutes out again verified that the car was still available. Upon arrival we quickly spotted the car in the “for sale” line of used cars still with the as advertised sticker hanging prominently from interior mirror. As my wife and I began to inspect the vehicle a salesman approached and introduced himself. I asked for the salesman we had been talking to and I was told that that salesman did not work in the used cars and that he could help me. When I insisted on the salesman I had talked to I was told the vehicle was SOLD. I told him that just 15 minutes earlier I had, for the third time, verified it was available and he turned and walked away to contact the salesman I had asked for. My salesman arrived and was shocked to here it was sold, so he went into the office to straighten things out. He never returned, but a young man came out and introduced himself as the Used Car Manager and promptly told me it was SOLD however that they had other vehicles I might wish to consider. I asked if he had a signed contract he said no. I asked if he had a deposit he said NO but the car was sold and I should look at other choices they had. I said no I am here with cash and wished to buy only this car. He said that wasnt possible as it was SOLD! No contract NO money deposit but it was SOLD? I asked to speak to the General Manager and he told me that he was NOT there today. Enough was enough so we headed towards the main showroom where low and behold we found the General Manager. After explaining our shock and dismay as a ready and willing CASH buyers not to be able to buy his advertised vehicle. I was told by the General Manager that their Policy” was that if the used car manager said it was sold I should consider an alternative vehicle that they could show us.....Folks that in my opinion is whats called by law “BAIT & SWITCH” a policy in some states that is a criminal offense. I know for a fact that Chevrolet, General Motors along with Ford, Lincoln & Cadillac do not knowingly tolerate such practices. However obviously Vic Canever and his Dealership sales people do! I suggest you seriously consider avoiding any dealings with any business that practices this deplorable & deceptive Policy” that VIC CANEVER Chevrolet in Fenton Michigan is obviously, in my opinion, practicing with gusto!

I would like to say a few things about this dealership since I have been dealing with them for 5 years now. Sales Person-Dale Rife-Great guy, very honest, I felt comfortable with him and he has continued to assist me when needed although I have called him for help with things that have nothing to do with sales, but service. This I see as excellent customer service because he is going above and beyond what is expected of him. I would highly suggest him if you are looking for a good person to take your money! Service-Duane Curto- He is the head guy above all others in service or body shop. He is very nice, helpful, and really seems to care about what is happening and making you happy. This is a good thing because other employees in these 2 departments probably make his job difficult. I have had a few issues with the body shop, not finishing the work fully and leaving things incomplete. Took a few different visits to finally get the job completed to the correct standards. In the service department, kind of the same, lack of communication between technicians and service manager Chris. (supposedly) They ruined my tire, and refused to admit that it was them, but after some complaints and calling the above mentioned good employees, they have now resolved the issue completely and to my standards. Through all of the issues and good parts, I am willing to go back and give the service dept/body shop one more go. It seems Duane is really trying to work on their customer service and fix the problems at hand, he listens to the complaints and actually does something about them, which possibly before this was not being done. I will also purchase another car from Vic Canever. All in all, I would rate them 3.5/5 but with a high possibility for that number to go up. They have excellent people that seem to be surrounded by some idiots, and that makes work harder than it has to be. Im sure once the idiots have been weeded out this place will shoot up to 5/5. We all know what it is like to work with "those" people, and I am going to be understanding of this, as everyone should be. Mistakes happen, and as long as they are owned up to, I can really get behind those types of people and businesss.

Worst service Ive ever received, I dropped my car off at 830am at my scheduled appointment time and was told it would be about 3-4 hours for my brake job. At 11 I still hadnt heard if I needed new rotters so I called and they still hadnt looked at my car let alone started working on it. Michelle told me it would be done by 130, I called at 115 because I still didnt know about the rotters which meant my car still wasnt being worked on because I hadnt given permission to replace the rotters. At 115 I spoke with someone different and was told my car still hadnt been looked at and that was after having it for nearly 5 hours. I was then transferred to the manager because I was mad I was without a car all day on something that should of been done. The manager then told me the car wouldnt even be finished Saturday and I would be without a car all weekend. I was given a loaner after the manager new how upset I was. I was told the reason my car wasnt looked at and done was because someone passing through town stopped by for suspension issues and they worked on his car instead of mine even though I had the appt, why make an appt if a drive in gets attention first. I then explained that I work afternoons/night and couldnt return the loaner car so they said they would come and get it. I was woke up at 815am (even tho I said I work nights and would just be getting to bed) to talk about my rotters (which they wanted over 400$ for) I asked for the car to be dropped off at noon and I was woke up again when it was dropped off at 1115am.... worst service ever and the worst part is, its not the first time Ive had horrible service there but it will be the last time I go back.
