EXTREMELY unethical and takes forever for service. On the recommendation of AAA, after my car broke down, I had it towed to Auto-lab for service. The initial diagnostic took two days, and I was informed that I would need to replace an ignition coil and spark plugs. I agreed to have the work done. However, Auto-lab failed to do complete diagnostics on all the affected parts, and the power control module shorted, killing the new coil. Auto-lab admitted they could replace the module, but that ford would have to program it, at which point I decided to finish the repairs at Ford. This was after I had needed to call them over the next week several times, as their deadlines were pushed further and further back. When I arrived to pull some things from the car, I was told that service was done... only a week after the original deadline I was given. The gentleman at the counter informed me, again, that the coil would need to be replaced, but that in addition to paying for the diagnostic and spark plugs, I would have to ALSO pay for the coil they burned out in the process of the repair and diagnostic! So in other words, not only would I have to pay them $100 for the coil THEY burned out in the process of the repair, but I would have to pay ADDITIONAL costs to get the coil replaced AGAIN!!! They are trying to make me pay TWICE for a single problem. I am opening a dispute with the Better Business Bureau. If you have a choice, DO NOT use this service! They are EXTREMELY unreasonable when it comes to helping out the consumer!!! Edit: Approximately 1 hour after I left this review, I filed s complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and reported Auto-Lab to the Federal Trade Commission and the Secretary of State Regulatory Monitoring Office. I DO NOT like shysters attempting to screw people!!!

I just got back from having my van looked at by a second auto repair place. After buying the groupon for an oil change, I called ahead, scheduled my appointment and brought my two young daughters with me while I sat there and they changed my oil. I was then told my intake gasket needed to be replaced and could be done for $690! Because I am not a fool, I asked for the information to be written down so I could discuss with my husband (and also get a second opinion.) The second shop took a look at my intake gasket and told me that it did not look bad, and that it appeared they were trying to make money from me. He also said that he has never seen an intake gasket go bad with a town and country (my van) and he took the time to point out where the intake gasket was and explain to me what he was talking about. If you are in the Lansing area...and looking for someone to trust with your auto repairs, I urge you to check out DeWitt Auto Services on Old-27! Skip the groupon from Auto Lab! Its not worth the hassle or the stress of being told something else is wrong with your car, when theres no need for it!!

Ive used Autolab for almost 3 years. Im a handyman myself. I only have others do work on my vehicles when it requires crawling under the car or its too technical for me. I generally know a diagnosis before I take my car in, so I can tell when someone tries to hose me. Autolab has always been fair, sometimes bringing the job in at less than the quote. Ive had them work me in on breakdowns, getting the vehicle up-and-running as quickly as possible. Some of the comments below indicate uninformed owners. Jobs are always quoted based on standard hours from the industry manual, but not at the dealers labor rate per hour. Shops buy parts for less than the public and then mark them up. Compensates them for the time of researching and ordering the parts, then servicing the warranties afterwards - which DID happen to me when a part failed. Autolab did the troubleshooting and replaced the part for no installation cost 3 months after the initial repair. I have complete confidence in Autolab and Marks work.

Under new management and no longer the business that kept me coming for 3 years. Mike used to manage this business and was professional, friendly and respectful. The new manager, Bill, is lacking in all these traits. He was dismissive and abrupt. In addition to dealing Bill, my simple oil change was anything but satisfying. They underfilled my oil so that within two blocks of leaving, my low oil light came on. When I returned and found my windshield cleaner fluid low, Bill explained that they "dont like to put much in because we use so much." ???? Really, after explaining your "30-point check" and stressing that youre mechanics unlike other places. After spending $41 for my oil change Im wonder how many other corners were cut if they are reluctant to use much windshield cleaner fluid and underfilling my oil. Most of the positive reviews reference Mike and are prior to fall of 2014 while Mike was still there. Needless to say, I will be looking for a new place to have my car maintenance done.

I found Auto Lab because I got a Groupon for an oil change. While I waited I "eavesdropped" on the guys as they dealt with other customers and spoke to each other about the work. I was trying to sort out if they would be shady and rip off a girl who doesnt know anything about cars if they had the chance. They were great and I didnt get that vibe from them at all! Since then Ive had some problems with my poor little VW Golf and Mark and the guys got me all sorted out. It cost a lot BUT it would have been a lot of money regardless of where I took it. Mark always breaks the bad news gently and makes sure to give me a thorough explanation of whats what. Today I took it in for a bizarre problem and they fixed me up for less than 100.00!! AND they fixed my horn fuse for FREE! I hope I dont have to see them any time soon (because my car has been there enough as of late) but if I do I know Ill be treated fairly and the work will be done well.

I came here because of a Groupon deal. You have to schedule an appointment for the Groupon and they all have a limited amount of time/day so make sure you call ahead. I am not used to that since I dont usually predict when my 3,000 miles are up. They took about 30-40 minutes. They informed me that I needed to change my serpentine belt and get an injection service. When I drove out of the place, my car stalled (which never has happened before!). I am not sure what happened but I pulled over on the next driveway from the store. I called them and they came out to check out what happened. They had no idea what happened. They turned on my car, in park they pressed the gas pedal a few times and then it ran like normal. They said it might have been water in my gas or something. So strange.... nothing like this has ever happened to my car before and Im the only owner of the car. I will definitely not come back to this place again.
