I called to schedule a time to have work done and was told to arrive at 11. 12:30 comes around and just getting around to it, 1 and finally we are talking about what needs to be done, which I already knew when I called originally...now I am wondering how long it will take to get the work done? Update...2 rolls around and some other vehicle requires help so, you guessed it...I am the one who gets pushed back! Now, another hour to finish???... and I am going to be late for work and lose money!! This all could have been avoided if they would have been honest about when they could actually work on my car!!! Second visit: The first time the wait was 4 hours for a front brake job. I should have learned! I was told by dealership that my brake pads on rear were low and needed replacing while getting an oil change, another place I will not be going back to! You sign for a brake diagnostic which is 49.50 plus surcharge (for what?) and tax, which they then apply towards repair, $51+. This is standard and I didnt think anything of it because I thought I was getting pads replaced. Turns out there is 80% left. Desk jockeys tell me they have heard this before about xxx brand dealers giving false reports (at least they didnt charge me for the lie, lol). Comes time to get my keys back (very slow) and I ask how much they charge for labor hour. I am told 100. They drove my car, inspected brakes, mechanical and hydraulic components says the receipt, but no information (inspection?) given on other said parts (front didnt need inspection since they had done them recently, but they did anyway?), which supposedly took a half hour. Total time of actual work should not have been more than 10 minutes. They did give me a 15% discount when I complained, but $44 (with discount) for 10 minutes labor (sic) is $262 for an hour. This is one of the easier things a garage does as well:( Needless to say I will not go back. The front desk service is slooow. One has a bad attitude, like they dont want to be there and obvious tension between them. Go to Jurgens, much better experience!

To whom it may concern. I took both of our family vehicles to the auto lab on five mile road for service. I had heard a couple of bad things in the past about this location but needed something close to home. I found out the owners are new as of Nov 2009 and I was very, very pleased with the way I was treated. The repairs were explained in great detail to my husband and then when I went to pick up my van, I was showed exactly what was done and it was explained to me in such a way that even I understood it. Then, driving my van home I notice a huge difference in the performance and the overall feel of my van. The next week I returned with my husbands Impala and I could tell driving it that something felt wrong in the steering but didnt mention that. I was taking it in for a anti-freeze leak. Rick called us and again, it great detail, explained the leak to us and told us about the unsafe condition of the front end. My husband ran over to see for himself and thank god he did. He couldnt believe how bad of shape the tie-rods were in. After all is said and done, we now have 2 very safe vehicles again and Auto lab has 2 new customers for life or as long as Rick and his crew are there. I know this is long but when you are treated as well as we were, I felt it important to let you all know that I refer them. Thank you Rick and staff. You were truly amazing... Jim and Karen

I am beyond impressed with the service and employees of Auto Lab. I found them on Google while I was abroad, knowing I was coming home to a potentially dangerous and expensive car problem. Unbeknownst to me, my Uncle had used them in the past and told me to go to them after I had unknowingly made an appointment They highly recommended allowing me to have them pick my car up for my own safety...Free of charge....When they discovered the problems with my car they could have completely sold me on the more expensive repair, as I know NOTHING about cars. But, they were able to save my calipers and it reduced the price by more than half. They were timely, kind and nformative and I will go back again and again, if needed. Very professional and just really nice guys! I no longer feel scared about car problems because I really believe I have found a mechanic in the family. Sounds cheesy, but it is SO TRUE...P.S. when I read reviews like this one, I assume a family member or friend wrote it....I am not either....Just a really satisfied customer. THANK YOU AUTO LAB!

A HUGE thanks to the AUTOLAB on Five Mile at Levan in Livonia – The ALS Assoc. Michigan Chapter had a wheelchair accessible van donated to us in the Spring of 2011. The van when donated was in good but used condition and like many vehicles with over 50,000 it requires regular maintenance to keep it working well. Because we provide transportation for patients fighting ALS to and from their homes to... any one of our four partner multidisciplinary clinics across the state, we need that vehicle to be extremely reliable and road-worthy. We trusted AUTOLAB and owner Gary Sielczak with getting it road worthy in November and keeping it patient ready ever since. Five months on the road and we’ve provided transportation for over 50 patients, delivery of equipment to over 100 families and traveled over 15,000 miles all over MI. It is hard to say “thank you” for a service that seem like a small thing but results in such an enormous difference to our families.

I was advised to go here by my mother. I dropped my car off at 8 am for a diagnosis and received notice at 4:30 pm. They said my car had an internal head gasket leak. They then said they were uncomfortable with replacing the head gasket because of the mileage. I informed them I had had the engine replaced before buying the car and the mileage didnt reflect that. They then continued to insist that they were uncomfortable working on the car without replacing the engine. They then quoted me $3600 for the job. I asked when I could pick up my car. I ended up paying them $52 just to look at it. What amazes me is that they are advised on Christian radio and I feel as if they were trying to cheat me. I am a young black woman and I was shocked they would even suggest something so ludicrous as to replace the engine because they didnt like the idea I didnt get my engine from them. They are swindlers and cheats.

Let me start with I rarely trust ANY car repair shops. I have been scammed a few times . Having said that, I now do my homework when taking my car anywhere. My car was in need of brakes, tires, and some major front end work. I knew this was not a simple repair, so I took it to 3 different establishments before deciding on Auto Lab. I must say, Im am very impressed with the professionalism and quality of work. Jim, was very thorough with explaining the work that needed to be completed. What impressed me the most was that he did not try to oversell unneeded parts or service like other shops did . The car has never run better. I will take all future repairs to this Auto Lab without hesitation. Thanks Jim!
