If you don’t want to read the whole review I will summarize in a few sentences. Rooter MD is completely untrustworthy. They took advantage of my family and charged us OVER 3 times the industry standard for a diagnostic and drain pipe flush. I was told by my insurance company that they were committing insurance fraud. I was told by another service provide that what they were doing ‘is just not right’. So if you want to employ a company that takes advantage of people, is dishonest, and over charges, then this is the company for you. First, some background on our unusual situation. We initially contracted a service company to assess the issue of a backed up drain. They flushed the drain pipe to achieve water floor, but could not fully inspect the pipe due to a blockage or break. After contacting my insurance company, they suggested we have American Leak Detection to perform an inspection/diagnostic. They assessed the condition of the pipe and listed either a drain pipe break or pipe separation as the issue. Since American Leak Detection does not perform services outside of diagnostics, they suggested a few companies, one of which was Rooter MD. Rooter MD sent a proposal for work to complete (1) diagnostic work to locate broken drain, (2) open basement floor to replace the pipe, and (3) replace to patch grade the basement floor. My husband and I accepted the proposal and paid a 50% deposit in the amount of $1594.50. Two workers arrived and during the diagnostic assessment determined that in fact broken pipe was not the issue, but that the pipe was blocked. The workers removed debris using high-powered water flush, but no floor brake, pipe replacement, or floor replacement was performed. They completed their work in 3 hours and provided me with a receipt saying ‘the $1594.50 deposit covered the work they performed’. They asked me to sign the receipt to indicate/confirm that they performed the work listed on the receipt (listed items were the diagnostic and pipe clean out) so I obliged. After calling the office to discuss adjusting the bill I was told that the $1594.50 fee was what they charge for “a half days work”. I called 3 different companies to get proposals on pricing for the diagnostic and flushing and the typical range is $450-550. Rooter MD is unethically price gouging the services performed and they were unwilling to work with me on the price. My insurance did cover a portion of the services, but my insurance company also said that Rooter MD was obviously committing insurance fraud.

I had the no dig sewer line repair done by Rooter MD and I am completely satisfied. My home, as do many, many homes built between 1945-64, has Orangeburg pipe for the sewer line from the house to the city main, and it typically has a maximum life of 60 years. My entire neighborhood has it and my next door neighbors line collapsed and failed two years ago, costing her nearly 20k in repairs. Fearing that mine could do the same I began to research and discovered many homes have already had Orangeburg collapse in Ann Arbor, and then my research lead me to the process of epoxy injection as a preventive/repair to be done before a fail. Then I looked for companies that could do this work and that search lead me to RooterMD. The process took a mere two days, we were without our plumbing facilities for just 24 hours instead of four days like my neighbor, and there was NO digging as opposed to my neighbor whose entire yard was dug up and destroyed. PLUS: this is FAR less money than repairing post collapse. All Orangeburg eventually WILL fail. The guys who did the work were exceptionally professional, polite and darn pleasant to have around. They were also VERY conscientious about keeping things clean and tidy. Pete the owner was present for the pre-job camera work and gave me a fine sense of ease about trusting him and his company. The inside of my sewer line now looks like a perfectly cylindrical and smooth water slide! I wholly and completely recommend RooterMD and if you have Orangeburg, I cannot recommend enough that you get this work done. Now. Mary Ann Wattles

I called RooterMD because they had good online reviews. The first job they came out for was done good enough and the guys that came out were professional and pleasant. Unfortunately, by the end of it I was second guessing my choice in companies. While they were writing up the job they randomly asked to look at my furnace, which had been working perfectly. They told me it was close to being shot and needed to be replaced soon. The quote they gave me seemed ridiculously high, and I was suspicious as to why they would even mention it. In the meantime, I had them coming out the next day for another issue and the man that came immediately was asking about my water heater (completely unrelated to what he was there for). He asked me a few questions about it and told me I probably need a new one. This was another red flag. That day I requested new furnace quotes from several other companies. All but one quoted me for nearly HALF what RooterMD was quoting me for. The company I ended up going with took a look at my water heater as I had asked them to, and they told me it did NOT need to be replaced yet. While the guys at RooterMD are nice enough and professional, they seem to be a complete rip off and will try to sell you on something else every time they come out. I highly suggest looking into other companies and getting multiple quotes before going with RooterMD. You could be saving yourself a lot of money in the end by going elsewhere!

We had 3 different techs come out, Joe, Jeff, and Lyle, and all were exceptionally helpful. Our main drain kept clogging and spewing back sewer water into our basement. We already had plumbers from other companies come out and assess the issue, but all of them just snaked and immediately said we had clay pipes, they were broken, and we needed to pay almost $10,000 to get them redone and dig up the yard to do it. The techs from Rooter MD took their time though. They had to come out multiple times, which I felt bad about, but they truly took their time, snaked a bunch of times, ran the camera, and didnt give up until they figured out what the issue was. Found out our pipes are cast iron and only the pipes near the city line are clay. Also found out the issue was tree roots coming in at the joints of those clay pipes, and that we can get them jetted out and re-line, all for WAY less than what it costs to tear up everything. Needless to say I will definitely be calling Rooter MD for any future problems. The techs are great, the dispatcher, Charlotte, that would contact me was incredibly friendly, they even worked with explaining the issues to my parents who dont live in this home but own it and wanted to know the details. Honestly do not even bother with other companies. You will get rude service and be cheated out of your money.

Long story short make sure you get multiple quotes before deciding to use this company, and a second plumbing company coming out to try open the drain saved me big time. I had RooterMD come out for a blockage in my main sewer line that was causing slow drainage. They came out and cleared the line for a reasonable fee. 2 months later the problem happened again this time it was worse, they came out again under warranty and tried unsuccessfully to re-clear the line. They then offered to come out and put a camera down the line in order to come up and quote a solution for a permanent fix. They put the camera down but because of the water filled pipe could not see the exact problem. They recommended digging up and repairing the blockage. The quote for that was 3 times what I thought it should be, Ive had main lines dug up and replaced before and this price was very high. I called for a few other quotes and one of the plumbers asked who I had try to clear the blockage and suggested I have someone else try to clear it. I remembered RooterMDs tech said that he didnt know if someone else could clear the line but he couldnt with his equipment, so I called another plumber. The new plumber I called was able to clear the blockage. My cost for having pipes that drain went from $4,800 down to $150.
