I cant say enough positive about my experience with McDonald Construction. I was very, very leary about building a custom home from the ground up. I had heard horror stories of the building process and also really didnt know anything about anything to do with building. Yet, when I toured the model you could just tell the difference of true quality. The quality and beauty of their work was immediately apparent. It was quite telling as I talked to my insurance agent, and banker and other people in Woodbury who while not involved in the deal all said oh you are lucky they are the best. My own experience has been wonderful. All of the people at McDonald Construction are amazing, knowledgeable, very kind and helpful. From Steve who from the early days walked me through the entire process and even now keeps in touch to Teresa who was just the most amazing architect and designed a lovely home better than I dreamed to Micah who became my email buddy and gave me weekly updates and answered all kinds of my crazy questions ( and still is) to Lonny who helped me keep my financial end on track and also provided invaluable advise to Bill who watched over the entire project and orchestrates everything ( and still made time to babysit me on some of the basics) to all of the their incredibly partners. I feel like I got to work with a bunch of artists who all came together to build this incredible piece of art for me. I knew throughout the entire process where we were and that I was in expert hands. Ive learned so much and not only did I get a tremendous home and a great value for the money, I had a wonderful life experience in doing this ...if you have any reservations about going this route...dont worry just go with McDonald Construction.

My wife and I contracted with McDonald Construction to have a four season porch put on our home. The home is a contemporary walkout rambler with a high-hip roof line, but we wanted something more of a modern/Asian style roof with very wide eaves and a low roof profile - also lots of large windows to frame our backyard with its pond, trees, and landscaping. We had seen in various house magazines where different architectural styles could be cleanly blended into a home-addition that looks very integrated and interesting, but it takes good design and careful attention to detail. At McDonald, we got both in addition to top quality craftsmanship. The McDonald designer took our ideas and put them together with many of her own suggestions culminating in a design that met our needs and budget. All subcontractors did excellent work and took pride in their craft. The project manager put together a timeline which was followed almost to the day. He kept us informed, answered all our questions promptly, and jumped on any problems that popped up [and there are always going to be problems in any building project]. We are so proud of our new addition, and seem to live in it no matter what the season of the year. We have been in it a year and a half since it was built with zero problems after the project.

Building with McDonald was an incredibly positive experience. Unlike many builders, McDonald is a true custom home builder. We sat down with their amazing staff, who went out of their way to accommodate our schedule, and drew our home from the ground up, including many creative and unique details that fit our family. The construction process was smooth and organized. We received weekly emails outlining what work had been done the week prior and what to expect in the coming week(s). Upon completion of our home, we had very few and minor issues, unlike many of our neighbors who built with other builders. What small issues we did have, were taken care of, no questions asked, almost immediately by the friendly and helpful staff at McDonald. Our friends and family marvel at the beautiful home they built for us and we are unexplainably happy in our McDonald Construction CUSTOM home!

We have owned a home built by McDonald Construction for ten years. Yes, our initial review would have been 4-5 stars. But, at the ten year mark, we are having to repair issues of shoddy work. Something would break, we have gotten it fixed and uncovering the initial work has shown workmanship that is subpar at best. A lot of our repairs go something like this, "Well, they didnt construct this correctly so this is causing your problem..." Half our windows were replaced at the 8 year mark due to the cheap windows they initially put in. This is not just our home, but every neighbor in our neighborhood has had to replace or repair issues where McDonald Construction cut corners or put in the cheapest quality building materials that looked nice but did not wear well. I would never recommend McDonald Construction to anyone who wants to own their home long term.

My wife and I built recently a new home with McDonalds Construction and we are both extremely pleased with the quality of our home. In addition, McDonalds made the building process an enjoyable experience. Some examples: their suppliers were easy to work with; we received weekly e-mail updates on our home progress from McDonalds; their home designer listened to us and designed a house that we love; and lastly, McDonalds answered any questions we had during the construction process within 24 hours or sooner. The McDonalds sales representative was there to support us during the entire construction process. I would recommend McDonalds to anyone looking to build a high quality custom home.

We built out house with McDonald Construction about 1.5 years ago. The process was nothing but a nightmare. Customer service is non-existent. Working with them is like pulling teeth. As I tried to email Bob McDonald few times with concerns and complains, never received a reply. After finally calling him, he brushed me off with some excuses. As soon as your check clears, their interest disappears. Working with their staff and managers is a process in its own, if you need an answer or anything done, make sure you give them at least a month. I would think twice before working with McDonald Construction.

Working with Mcdonald Construction for my and my sister-in laws construction needs has been great. Every aspect of the process from first meeting with their agent Kim Vetter to final walkthrough was professional. Their whole staff communicated well during the build. The subcontractors they use are top notch. I would definately recommend them in the future to friends and family, and with confidence I know they will be well treated and get a custom home of their dreams.
