Had a wonderful first time experience with Miss Bessie yesterday. My hair was a disaster because I failed at transitioning from relaxed to natural hair. So half of my head was new growth and the rest was dead relax hair. Ive been getting relaxers consistently for 20 years and wanted to go all natural. I have so much hair and its really thick that I just gave up and my hair started to clump together. Yall it was a mess! So much so that I would wear scarves in public. When I saw Miss Bessie yesterday and showed her my hair we both started laughing (in a good way of course):) It was really bad yall! However, Miss Bessie knew exactly what to do. She cut my dead ends of the relaxer (which left just my new growth), untangled, washed and deep conditioned. I ended up getting 2 stand twists and will be taking it out in a week or so to have a head full of curls. My hair is still long despite the needed trim of all the dead hair but now my hair is HEALTHY! I will be seeing her again in 3 weeks and recommend her to anyone whos transitioning to all natural and have no idea what they are doing. She also recommended me good products for my hair and told me to stay away from products I see other natural girls using (i.e. vloggers) because it may work on their hair but not on mine. I learned so much about being natural and was literally in tears after everything was done because my hair was that damaged and bad. I am forever thankful for Miss Bessie and love her expertise on natural hair as shes the only professional I know in MN who has been doing ONLY natural hair for 20+ years. Thank you! Thank you! Now I can throw my scarf away lol. :) -Satisfied Client

Whatever you do...DO NOT go to this lady!! She is a crook and she takes FOREVER to do your hair...I came in and she consulted and told me my hair would be $200...she also said I needed a down payment to hold my spot...that is all fine and dandy...she used her little chip card reader thing on her phone which also charged a nominal fee for using. I then went back to her to do my hair and she charged me the full $200.00...when I told her she was quickly aplogetic and wrote me a check...but when I tried cashing the check, the check was bad and I tried having the charge reversed, but she told her credit card company that I was trying to steal from her. I sent in the letter and the signed check she gave to me as proof that she was lying, but she insisted that I was trying to do a check fraud. I was really scared to continue fighting so I did not go back to her and dropped the whole thing. All in all, Bessie is not someone I will ever do business with ever again...sure if you want someone taking 9 hours to do a regular twist and stopping in between to answer her phone or even going as far as eating over your head...then this is the place for you. VERY unprofessional and would NEVER go back to her! Please take your hard earned money elsewhere

I went to see Bessie about 2 weeks ago to get permanent dread lock extensions put in. She is pretty expensive, im getting the extensions put strictly on the top of my head she wants me to pay her 260, half up front, and im suppose to purchase 3 packs of bulk kinky hair from sunnys across the street to get them put in even though i already have the extensions pre made. SMH. I asked what process she uses to put them in and she would not tell me, simply saying that information is to valuable to just hand out. Its not valuable given i know how I want them to be installed, ive been researching how i want this process done for 10 months now so its clear she is not capable and youtube is litered with people who can properly install the dreads as i see fit. My biggest gripe i have in regards to Malobe is this, 2 days after my initial consultation i called her and her phone was cut off, and then on Monday February 13th i said F it im going to go through her because i want dreads so bad, just to arrive at Malobe and her salon was void of ANYTHING!!! The shop was completely empty just a chair or 2 behind the glass door. No decorations all her posters and nik naks were GONE. F Bessie, ruined my plans now i must continue to shop around.

Thank the heavens for Miss Bessie. I called for a consultation regarding my daughter, and was invited to come in the same day. Bessie and her assistant (Im sorry, I forgot her name) were very kind and inviting to me, and engaging to my two girls. I came regarding the younger one, and she honestly told me what to expect and what was realistic. About and hour and a half later, my 3 year old has a beautiful head of two strand twists. Bessie was patient even though my daughter cried (shes 3 and tenderheaded) and even did a consult on my self-started dreadlocks- and a BEAUTIFUL quick up-do! Her prices are reasonable, and she has products geared toward natural hair in the salon. You can tell she loves her craft, and she has a new family of natural-haired customers thanks to her fantastic work! BEST NATURAL HAIR SALON IN THE TWIN CITIES! Thank you Bessie; see you in 3 weeks!

3 Huge problems that I would never return to this woman: 1: She over booked herself- I was waiting hours there before she even started and I was supposed to be her last appt of the day. I was there for over 4 hours and still had to come back. 2: She doesnt listen- my hair has been palm rolled for years but she neglected to ask and began to interweave them which takes 3 times as long, and when putting in loc extensions didnt listen when giving detailed instructions about my particular hair texture and how to work with it. Every extension she put in came out (the only reason I went to her in the first place) 3: She is so ridiculously over priced for the terrible service she provided even the styling she did was sub par. I do not encourage anyone to go here Ive done a better job myslef.

She was a coo person but I have some dislikes regarding my hair first one of my locs extension fell out today and she told me it was suppose to grow with my hair (Afro kinky) she didnt finish my hair I called and she was willing to see me again to finish the job but I had other things to attend too she changed her price up on me. first she told me $150 for everything (maintaince plus dye and curl) then when i finally came to her shop agian she upped the price up to $180 just to wash retwist (maintaince) then said dye $50 each color and curl $30 but other then that my hair looked good I looked good will I go back to her naw ima go some were else thats less pricey and will charge me only $60-$80 for everything

Wonderful service. Ms. Bessie is such an amazing woman. She helped me start off my journey on the natural hair path. She showed me which products to get for my type of hair. She is very personable. It took 2.5 hours to get my horrible hair in shape and no matter how hungry she got she didnt make me wait nor did she make me feel like a burden (though I insisted she eat). She talked about everything with my friend and I. Im also a diabetic and when I ran out of water and snacks (not expecting to be there as long) she offered me a bottle of water and some of her snacks so that my blood sugar wouldnt crash. I will see her again. She has a repeat and happy customer. Thank you Ms. Bessie.
