I have been going to this location on and off since it was a Northwest Athletic location. Lifetime has certainly improved the facility and I really cannot say enough wonderful things about the LifeSpa. The best massage of my life, the best facial of my life, and my most recent haircut have all been at this location. The LifeSpa staff are great! The gym is well maintained, clean, and has a private hot tub (at least for women) in the locker room, tanning facilities, sauna, and steam room. The cafe is great as well - theres always something healthy and fresh to eat. The equipment is vast and complete! However, there are a few drawbacks. 1) People using the gym - Many come to socialize and are a bit stuck up; i.e., if theyre speaking loudly to their friend, its totally fine, but if you take a 20-second phone call, they glower at you and tell you to shut up. However, many people keep to themselves, do their workouts and seem very friendly. Ive noticed may women leave their towels on a bench 2-3 feet from a dirty towel bin, which is just unacceptable! Have some decency and respect for the people manning the locker room! 2) The personal training staff seems to continually try and charge you for whatever they can. More training sessions or a lung exercise or products they sell and its absolutely disgusting. I paid for two sessions, only used one and it took 5 different communications to get my money refunded for the second session, which seems similar to another reviewer here. 3) The locker room is 85% full of "special" lockers and its hard to find a regular card-holding locker. 4) I dont know why this gym is "platinum" level - there isnt a nice outdoor waterslide park or aquatic facility like Plymouth-Gold level, just the tennis facility, which another reviewer expanded on before me. In any case, I dont think this club is worth $90/mo as a single subscriber.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Save yourself hundreds (maybe thousands) of dollars. First, they dont understand that people have jobs. Why am I offered "free" nutrition appointments by Breanne Johnson, with times only during working hours? They want convenience for their staff and thats it. Second, they will put up a nice image at first just to throw all this marketing at you and get you for even hundreds of MORE dollars. Next, Matt Johnson doesnt follow up with any requests to find out more about the basketball hoops league. I tried with no success to get ANY information about a league which costs... yes... nearly a hundred dollars. (management confirmed with me that everyone dropped the ball in my case) Finally, the General Manager Kerry Sutherland is concerned with my request only when it comes to the point of me wanting to cancel my membership. I echo previous reviews that say its incredibly difficult or perhaps a brick wall when it comes to trying to cancel a membership without getting charged hundreds of more dollars before you can even be free of Lifetimes corporate grip. (I was even offered a temporary free membership when I let them know I was going to express my opinion publicly) I turned it down. Lifetime Fitness, thank you for only following up and being concerned only when I want to stop paying. Last, Anthony is the only employee Ive dealt with that has a great understanding of customer service and Lifetime would do themselves a favor by hiring more people like him.

I was a Life Time member for three-and-a-half years. Ive dealt with a crowded fitness center, a huge construction mess that shut down half the locker rooms for way too long, creepy old men taking pictures of women in the fitness center, seeing other peoples lockers and cars broken into and staff not caring, and the final straw was another member pushing their way into my shower and inappropriately touching me. Clearly, it was time to cancel -- but not so easy. Despite having a website that lets you manage virtually every aspect of your membership online, if you want to cancel, you have to write a letter, print it to paper, and send it via Certified Mail, return receipt requested -- they say a full month in advance. They dont want to keep your business by providing good service, they want you to be tricked into staying. Fun fact! When you become a member, Life Time automatically subscribes you to "Experience Life Magazine" and they add $15 to your membership for it unless you cancel. Of course, you can cancel, but in my experience they dont actually honor your request. Read the contract in detail if you decide for some reason to join. This place is, in my opinion, the definition of consumer fraud.

I am a LTF groupie and love the club! That said, I want to talk about the cafe. I joined LTF in 2007, working out at the Chanhassen club. Before the smoothies cost $7+, I used to get one every day after my workout. Consistently wonderful. When the price went up, I limited myself to one a week. But the taste? HEAVEN! However, a year ago, we moved this way and I started going to the St. Louis Park club. I have never had so many smoothies that are missing "something." I always order them and then head for my car. So, on my way to my next stop, I am utterly disappointed with the taste. They forgot the banana. They left out the peanut butter. They used the wrong flavor of protein powder. etc. Today again, they were offering samples of their strawberry/banana with vanilla whey protein. The sample was out of this world, so I determined to get one after my workout. But, as I headed to my car, I tasted it. No banana. GOOD GRIEF! Maybe this club needs to take a day and just have everyone who works in the cafe have a smoothie lesson! Especially for the price they think they are worth.

Like others who have reviewed this location, I have been frustrated with how the Personal Training staff handles billing. I wish there was someone at this location that actually knew how to do anything with a customers account besides charge it. Its easy to GET services, such as extra classes, training sessions, etc, but when charged incorrectly it can take a slew of phone messages and emails before someone finally reimburses your account. On the plus side, I love the TEAM class that I am in, because I get lots of individualized attention without feeling like the personal trainer is all up in my face the whole time. I have enjoyed working with all the personal trainers and nutritionists that I have met so far, and am comfortable bringing up my individualized goals or questions with any of them at any time. The hours at this location are fantastic, with the added bonus that I have never had to wait for a shower (this is a big deal to me, as I have had to wait at other gyms). Timeliness is a big deal to me so I love the flexibility that LTF offers.

I was a member of this club when it was still a Northwest Athletic Club and I think it is now a better place than it ever was in its Northwest days. Free towels, free secure lockers, great group fitness offerings and instructors (Katie, Marybeth, Molly, Bill, Heather and more!), wonderful places to hangout and work online or just chill, direct access to the Greenway and city lakes and they are even renovating their four squash courts! Yes, the parking can still be a drag at times, even with the new ramp, but that is a result of the incredible central location and the quality of the facilities, not the Lifetime organization. The constant corporate branding from the Lifetime system could also be dialed down a number of notches. However, nothing is without some flaws and in my opinion this location has very few. It is a great club and community and my family loves being members of it!
