Posted on behalf of Bill Ryan, Project Coordinator at Brookview Gardens HOA. Brookview Garden Homes HOA is a townhouse development composed of 14 buildings and 96 units. Our buildings are 20 to 25 years old. Sela Roofing and Remodeling, Inc. was hired in 2015 to re-roof our buildings in two stages, one half to be completed in 2015 and the remaining half to be completed in 2016. The experience was very positive for Brookview Garden Homes in both phases of the construction. Most of the hard working crew members were the same in both Years and they were supervised by the same talented and thoughtful, Sela, Field Supervisor. Unit residents were not subjected to any unnecessary inconveniences and noticeable efforts were made by the Sela Workers and Suppliers to store materials in such a manner that residents could use their garages throughout the project. Additionally, the old roofing materials were hauled away by trailers, saving the Associations driveways and yards from dumpster damage. The work was completed effectively and expeditiously. The Sela Field Supervisor was in complete control of the job and managed the project in a calm and effective way. Residents marveled at the work ethics displayed by the crew members. One resident even bought pizza and soda for the twenty plus crew members one day. It was a pleasant business relationship with Sela, and the Association is happy with the results. The roofs look good!

We hired Sela to replaced our old cedar siding with steel siding and to apply a Tyvek wrap with fan-fold insulation. We also had Sela install a new round Anderson window for us. VJ was the salesman. He was very helpful and went out of his way to help us put this deal together. Offering us a free insulation upgrade and paying to have Dish come out to reset their receiving dish. We thought he was great. The actual work began a while later. Once Ho the supervisor arrived, he introduced himself and the others--then they got to work. Ho and his crew were great! They were all very friendly, worked incredibly hard, and paid attention to the details of what they were doing. The old siding got stripped off rapidly, then some of the crew put up the Tyvek while others repaired little areas damaged by time, insects, and woodpeckers. When removing the old siding on the chimney chase, they noticed that the original builder had taken a shortcut and never installed the underlayment on the top half of the chase—they just had the siding nailed to the frame. So Ho had his crew fix the problem correctly for us with a plywood underlayment. The insulation and the siding went up rapidly. They never bothered us about anything, they just worked hard until the job was done. It was a great job by VJ, Ho, and all of the others at Sela.

We selected Sela from 3 bidders to remove our old roof and replace it with a new roof with architectural shingles and new gutters/covers and to upgrade insulation and venting. We are totally pleased with the experience and the result. The cost was competitive, landing between the other 2 bidders. As a result, we would have no hesitation in recommending Sela to others for any roofing needs. Sela, through Pat Hall, Connie Larson, and several team members, was totally responsive to our needs. When they said something would happen, it happened; when we had minor issues or questions, their response to such was always timely. From start of project to finish, the roofing crew was exceptional: arriving early in the morning and sometimes working well into the evening, always cleaning up the yard after each day. When it was discovered the roof needed redecking, which possibility we were appraised of before signing the contract, a person arrived with a change order to the contract to agree upon and sign. The insulation crew provided innovative solutions to our bothersome venting problems. The team from Sela Gutter Division was fast, efficient, and customer oriented, being totally responsive to our needs for a gutter installation that accommodated our rain barrels. In short, we would gladly hire Sela again.

Owning a ninety year home, weve had our share of repairs and remodeling projects. Ive learned to go straight to the best providers of home services. I noticed that Sela had trucks all over my neighborhood over the years and called them for our roofing needs. They replaced our roof several years ago. They did a fantastic job from start to finish. They were efficient, professional, and cleaned up everything after they finished. We had a leak due to some storm damage and they came out right away and fixed it. At that time, my husband asked about the chimney. Sela sent a pro over to take a look. We knew that the brick work was in a sorry state. We had the work completed by a masterful team. The mason matched the brick on our home and built the chimney in one afternoon. The team that built the scaffolding was amazing; theyd obviously done it before and had it up and down in no time. The last step of the chimney repair was to replace shingles and flashing. These men were polite, professional, and are very skilled at what they do. I highly recommend Sela. We want quality and we get it everytime! Their bids are honest and reasonable. I want to also commend the customer service people at Sela. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient.

We picked Sela because they have a high review rating...turns out they offer customers $50 for a good review at the end of the job. Our experience started with a super unprofessional salesman that had us sign the contract while telling us about how he was drunk at the bar and making sexual jokes at karaoke. We shouldve ended it right there. Our new roof ended up taking about two months to complete, as they had to reroof most of the house and all of the garage due to the horrible job they did the first time. Additionally, we had a dumpster, but the first time around they did not clean up after themselves at all. In fact, they even left their pop and caulk cans littered on our lawn. There was debris EVERYWHERE, which we ended up cleaning up ourselves because it was blowing into our neighbors lawns. Not to mention there was also about 300 nails to clean up. I am giving them 2 stars instead of 0, because after we reported our concerns they came out and fixed the craftsmanship errors (including redoing the shingles) and were responsive after we told them our concerns. The second time they also did a great job cleaning up. But it was a pretty negative and drawn-out experience over all. Use someone else.

My wife, newborn baby and I were turning left (2 left turning lanes) on a Green Arrow. A Sela Employee in a Sela Truck MN Lic Plate #269 TAN Silver Chevy Silverado was making a right turn on a red light. He almost T-boned us. He was clearly driving wrong. We had the right of way. My wife honked to warn him and he stopped abruptly an not hitting us. This Sela Employee did not like this and honked back aggressively. Then he followed us onto the Freeway Driving a few feet away from the back of us Honking his horn, then driving to the side of us aggressively, honking his horn and giving us the finger. He followed up for several miles and would not leave us alone. We did not know how more aggressive this road rage would get. With current stories in the news we wondered if this man eventually shoot us? Sela does not seem to train their employees in non-aggressive behavior. I advise being on the defensive when dealing with one of these individuals as it may be this same man or another one that has not been trained. If you have a permit, it may be wise to carry if you call these people to work on your home or have any encounter with them.
