I had Norblom Plumbing come to my house 3 times over the past few weeks. The first time they sent a drain specialist to my house to unclog the main drain line. Like most people, I didnt know a plumber and a drain specialist were two separate people, each of which have two very distinct responsibilities and capabilities. When I explained the problems I was experiencing to the "drain specialist", he informed me that he would only be able to assist me with the drain. That was frustrating as I assumed a call to a plumbing company would mean all my plumbing related issues would be addressed that day. That is not the case. I had them come to my house a second time because I was still having issues with the kitchen sink, and again, the same drain specialist came to my house - not a plumber. When he realized there were a few leaks associated with the poor draining, he informed me that he would not be able to fix the leaks, and that he could only unclog the drain. So yet again, I would have to have a plumber come to my house. Again, you would think when you call a plumber, the person they send to your house would be able to address your plumbing related issues. After the fact, their customer service rep even went so far as to tell me that was an unfair assumption. Really? Finally, a week later, one of their plumbers did come to my house to address the leaks under my kitchen sink. I was told ahead of time it would be a simple, relatively quick job. All said and done, it ended up taking 2 hours of time and over $110 in overpriced parts. The total bill - $432. I was absolutely shocked I was paying so much for what was supposed to be a simple job. Thats after already spending $300 on the previous 2 visits. To their credit, both the drain specialist and the plumber were very friendly. But that friendly chatter will end up costing you. I even called them to discuss my concerns of being overcharged, and the person I spoke to seemed very defensive and didnt seem to understand my concerns. He told me he would speak to the plumber and that he would call me back the following day. That was 2 days ago and I have yet to hear from him. Needless to say, I will never do business with this company again. I feel I was charged an arm and a leg for what was supposed to be a simple job, and I was nickle and dimed from the time they pulled up to my house to the time I was handed the bill. I was even told I was being billed their hourly rate during the time it took the plumber to write me my bill.

Had an intermittent problem with my water heater that I couldnt figure out. Struggled for a few weeks on my own and with the manufacturers help, I replaced a couple sensors, re-did the venting, etc. Nothing, so I finally broke down and called the experts to come out and save the day. Like I said, the problem was intermittent so, of course, when they showed up we couldnt reproduce it. But I knew the error codes I was getting, knew exactly how it would act, etc. He checked it over for an hour ($180 worth), then basically shrugged his shoulders and said if I needed him to talk to the Manufacturer for me he would. He also said that some times the control systems need to be "reset", so he unplugged it and plugged it back in. Which I had already done a few times. Later that day it did error out again and when I talked to the manufacturer they had me actually reset the water heater, with the reset code. It has worked fine ever since. Maybe Im crazy, but it seems like somebody Im paying $180/hr to help troubleshoot my water heater should know that there is a reset code for the control valve. I called to talk to someone at the office, they didnt want anything to do with me and eventually offered me "credit on a future service call" just to get me off the phone. And it worked because I just hung up....why would I want credit on a future service call if dissatisfaction with a service call is the reason Im calling?

Ive had them out to replace very old bathroom faucets (that were a BIG challenge to get out). They also repaired/replaced very old bathtub faucets. AND removed a very old garbage disposal which was also hard to get out. All with no damage to existing plumbing. For all those things I was very pleased. I did feel like the charges were a bit high, but given the challenging circumstances I felt OK paying that much for them to not damage anything else while working on the old plumbing. So they were my "go to" when our water heater failed. They did indeed work me in as quickly as they could and Im sure we got a cadillac water heater. But it was over a $1000!!!! Since they were here WITH the water heater, I felt obligated to just go through with it, but my SO is still angry with me for paying so much and refuses to split the bill with me (our usual arrangement). My dad, maintenance supervisor for a large manufacturing company here in town, also agreed I was charged way too much. I also asked my work colleague whose husband is a plumber in Rochester and she too said it should have been more like $800. I feel like Ive been taken advantage of and probably will not be using them again. I am disappointed they felt they could just take advantage of the situation and overcharge me. Oh well.... live and learn I guess. But youd be better off taking cold showers for a couple more days and shop around.

I asked to install a shutoff valve on the cold water-in to the toilet in a rental property. Then, I wanted them to replace the valve assemby and float valve. The toilet was filling very slowly. Norblom replaced components in the tank, but didnt install a shutoff valve (I found this out later). Then, I told them to install a new water faucet in the kitchen of the same unit (different appointment). While they were at it, might as well have them install shutoff valves under the kitchen sink, too. This is a 100 year old building that doesnt have modern conveniences. The person I spoke to at Norblom said "Ill look into pricing the faucet" because they apparently dont carry the type that unit needed (?). A plumber went in and installed shut off valves under the sink, then left me a message saying he didnt have the parts to repair the faucet. I asked for a new one, not a repair. "I talked with the owner, the most I can offer is an $80 credit." They charge a $97 minimum, plus parts and any labor over 30 min. Ive already paid $400 for the minimal work theyve done. Im not paying more. I found a guy on Craigslist that did everything I wanted that Norblom didnt, and perfect quality work, for much less $$.

Had my 15+ year old water heater replaced today by Norblom Plumbing. When I called earlier in the week with questions about the run needed for a powered damper (my previous heater had a very shallow angle), Mike had me take pictures, fully assessed my needs and set up an appt to get the water heater replaced just 3 days later. The installer arrived today - 40 mins early (but he called first and asked permission to come early) - and he had scheduled help to have him remove my old water heater and bring the new one in to the basement. They laid down painters cloth to protect my carpeted stairs and completed the job in just over an hour. My wife and I were shown how this unit works - its damper is powered compared to my previous unit -- and all works great. The team fully cleaned up the work area and filled out my Xcel Energy rebate form for me to send in for a $150 rebate (done!). Overall - very happy with the service, speed, friendliness. Would call them again without reservation.
