Summary and Background: In my opinion: My elderly mother was taken advantage of by Burton Plumbing - a $4k AC system cost her $7,456. She is 73, a first time home owner, on Social Security and a small pension fixed income, and accepted Burtons bid without competing bids because "Theyve always been real nice to me". She has a tiny 2 bedroom, 744 square foot home in old town Bellevue. I tried to work with Burton calling multiple times to find some way to rectify this, and even talked with Jeff Miller (GM). They said the pricing was complicated (only by design!) and never really could explain the huge price difference. The appropriate option for her was listed as a "BANDAID" - I dont know about you but this sounds temporary, right? WRONG, it covered just what was needed for $3,890. They even pitched an option that was $19,545, for a $65k house! See the details below, but whatever you do, dont "just call Burton". I have no issue with the service, the apparent quality of the work done or the equipment delivered. Please pass this on. I will be opening a BBB complaint, and a NE Attorney General complaint, contacting the OWH and local TV stations and sharing on social media. I should probably make TRANE aware of this as well. This may not be illegal, but it is certainly unethical. Please see other reviews for the track record this company has at: Google+ Better Business Bureau Issue: The FACTS: Multiple competing bids (same model numbers and services*) from other TRANE certified dealers came in $3,300 - $4,100. She paid $7,456!! What else did she get for $3,356 more than the HIGHEST competitor? Duct Cleaning and sealing and sanitizing ~ $300 based on competing bids 2 years of “I cant write a check" (change air filters, annual inspections, etc. see # note below) Estimated by me at ~$120 actual retail costs @ $15 per filter, changed four times a year not including labor. As a matter of fact, this service was NOT listed in the contract?!? So for $3,356 she appears to have received ~$420 worth of extras. This was all a "bundled" package. I encourage you to check it out for yourself. Requested recourse: 1) Refund $3,000 – leaving Burton with $4,456, for what seems to be a higher than average sale price for the system installation and the third-party vent cleaning and sanitizing. 2) Cancel all Service Protections plans, including the duplicated $20 /month service plan – this absolves Burton from future service and expense. 3) Honor all warranties, labor and parts as documented. Details and Notes: * Installed equipment: A/C 4TTR3024G1000AA - TRANE Coil 4TXCA024BCSHCRA - TRANE Thermostat TH6110001028 Cond Pump 554967 60 AMP service drop # “I can’t write a check” There was NO documentation on what is included in the "Cant write a check plan" other than a reference to it in the option presented as seen in Image #1 at the top of the page – it seems very similar to Burton Service Protection plan. I was TOLD by Burton that it included planned maintenance (2 a year), changing the air filters on schedule (I assume every three months), Emergency Late Night service – no hassle (whatever that means, no guarantees of service). But nothing in writing, therefor no real commitment or value??

HIGHLY OVERPRICED. In July 2011, my kitchen faucet started leaking really bad. With no shut off valves under the sink the water to the entire house had to be shut off. Because of that reason and that the plumbing was copper tubing, I called Burton. $49.50 for dispatch fee and $326.85 to REPAIR (not replace) a kitchen faucet that costs under $80 brand new. I figured that was pretty steep and said so. The plumber told me the repair had a lifetime guarantee. Of course that wasnt in the work order ! Here we are two years later and the faucet is leaking again. Calling Burton, they said that it doesnt appear to be a warranty on the faucet, but they will give me 50% off the dispatch fee to come look at it and decide if it might fall under a warranty/guarantee. Of course it is Saturday and that means it would normally be $150 so they are only going to charge me $75 to decide what they would or wouldnt charge me to fix it. I went to Home Depot with pics of my sink faucet (above and below the sink). An associate gave me some instruction on what I needed to do, including the addition of shut off valves under the sink. Sooooo, for under $90 I added two shut off valves, got the copper cutting tool I needed, and replaced the entire faucet system. Just something really wrong about charging close to $400 to repair a faucet that costs less than $80 brand new. If you have a leak, shut the water off and call anyone but Burton.

********GO TO THE HIDDEN REVIEWS ON YELP, WELL OVER 50 TERRIBLE EXPERIENCES PEOPLE HAVE HAD********* Tried to charge us upwards of $1200 to fix a gas leak after dillydallying around for way to long. Tried to charge us for the time that he spent sitting in his van for well over 30 minutes on his phone and smoking a cigarette. They did not handle the situation safely at all, in fact, they tried to capitalize off of it. My wife became so worried about the leak that she called M.U.D. They (M.U.D.) had someone down within the hour. The guy walked into my furnace room and found the leak in seconds, fixing it WITH HIS BARE HANDS. Basically Burton tried to charge me an outrageous amount for an entirely new replacement part to fix the gas leak, something that could have killed me and my entire family; they told me that the gas leak wasnt a threat. When we asked the guy from M.U.D. he said that with as long as Burton allowed us to wait, it was a miracle that there wasnt an explosion. Awful company, blatant overchargers, guiltless repairmen. Thank you JEREMY, for trying to wring $1200 out of me, all while putting me, my entire family, and my neighbors at risk of death! When the furnace is hurtin DONT CALL BURTON IF YOU VALUE YOUR SAFETY. I will never go with Burton again as long as I live. I would rather have no furnace or plumbing at all.

Jeremy M was my assigned Burton rep. Very professional and knowledgeable. I spent 6 days evaluating the offerings of providers. In the end I selected Burton and Jeremy. Excellent parts and labor warranty. This was #1 on my list. My other 3 providers were not able to exceeded. Burton was able to install in less than 3 days. The other 3 required a minimum of 2 weeks. And Burton was able to offer their equivalent product considerably le$$ than the competition. 16 Seer, high efficiency, WiFi controlled, no mess left behind neither inside or outside. The two techs that performed the installation arrived by 8am and was done by 4pm. A/C, furnance and outside unit. When I called on a Monday to notify Jeremy I wanted his service I also said I cant write the check until next Monday. Jeremy arrived the following day with contract, portable A/C and news that my unit would be installed Friday. During the installation the techs acclamated me to the new unit and how to care for it; filters, humidifier and care for outside unit. They also installed additional vents in basement to ensure city regulations were met. Jeremy/Burton provided a great no hassle experience. The price could not be beat, service is first rate, and an app controlled comfort system. I cant stop talking about it. Include them in your evaluations and compare your findings.

WAAAY over priced. Do yourself a favor and get addition quotes before choosing Burton. I got a quote of around 1500.00 to replace a bad water heater which was almost triple other quotes around town and that was if I signed up for their service partner membership which would be and addition 19 bucks a month. They dont even have an hourly rate. The tech stated "they use up front prices and charge by the task" Which mean they wont break down the individual costs like parts and labor. If ya google water heaters you can find a decent one for under 500 bucks which means it would have been around 1000 dollars in labor. I then asked how long it would take and and the tech stated a few hrs. So I would be paying around 333 dollars an hr for labor. That is highway robbery. After hearing this I told the guy I was taking my business elsewhere he started to negotiate. I asked what about the "fair and upfront prices" and he didnt have much to say after that. Not so fair and upfront after all. These guys obviously get paid by commission and will try and take advantage at anytime to make a extra buck. This company should be ashamed of themselves for the way they try to gouge and fool customers. Oh ya upon leaving he tried to charge me 69.00 bucks for the estimate even though when I set up the call it was a free est. Be forewarned
